All I have to do is watch this and I can't imagine anyone having more skill playing bass than Pete Entwistle had. Maybe some were equal, but I don't see how anyone could surpass him.

It so super booring, then a bassplayer doing a solo and just bang on the string and just doing a mess of notes. There is nothing in John Entwistles playing that make me think he is something special.

Add on the fact that John was not a modern bassist, but a bassist from the 60’s, his bass playing is definitely without a doubt some of the best, most innovative. There’s a reason he ranks high on the top bassists lists consistently.

So i guess i'm going to be the only one to point out that his playing (in this clip) is sloppy. His overall technique is rough and broken, he is not keeping time very well (maybe couldn't hear the drums properly?), his little 'de-tune E string play' was amateurish, and his tone is awful. This man was a legend... his playing here is NOT legendary by a long way. 🤷

The Force is with him.

John Entwistle might have as well invented the very concept of bass. I mean, he looks like he's invented the guitar, the playing style, and just about everything else about it with how professional he looks while playing.

This guy was just ridiculous...Not a big Who fan, but I respect talent when I see it and hear it.
