Power Probe Tek Demo Board
Переглядів 111 тис.2 роки тому
Demonstrating Power Probe Tek circuit testing tools on our demo boards. These are very effective at showcasing the features of the different tools and also allows customers to see them in action and try out the circuit testers themselves.
Lol I have one of these
I was on the fence until I watched this, now I'm shopping for the best deal on a master kit. 👍🔥
Saludos, tengo una duda... Para buscar un cable picado seria mas seguro retierar los postes de la batería que alimentan a todo el vehículo? Solo conecto la herramienta a +/- de batería dejando todo el resto de los circuitos sin voltaje...?
When tracing for opens or broken connections it is probably safer and to ensure there would be no voltages anywhere in the wiring. Only when tracing shorts that the battery must be connected to maintain the connection to ground.
Power pro 4 is a shit
I want to buy it may you please assist 🙏, im in south africa
Where can i buy it and how much is it ?
Would it be more accurate if you disconnected the battery to isolate a specific wire, since there is powered wires all over the harness. My guess, it’s one wire we’re trying to pinpoint, I’ll try today and see what’s more affective,
After watching every UA-cam video on the ECT 3000, I tried to use it to locate a short to ground in the wiring harness running from the fuse box to the fuel gauge on my Jeep. After placing the green probe in the fuse box, the transmitter signaled a short, I then locked in the signal from the transmitters green wire connection. The receiver wasn't much help at all in locating the that short to ground.
What does it mean when you connect the green wire to a source and even the green wire doesnt emit a signal
Thanks for the helpful video. The booklet is a little vague on how to test the ECT before use.
How far away the receiver can go from transmitter ?
The receiver will pickup the transmitter signal up to about 10” away from the wire that the signal is connected to when set at max sensitivity. However, there is theoretically no limit to the length of the wire the transmitter is injecting the signal into.
@@13GADGETMAN it won’t work to find a cut wire on a 53’ trailer?
Thank You!
Just Need to watch it a few more times, to let it all sink in, I didn’t know it had all these features,
Awesome "RadioShack electronic learning lab-like video!
To find an open circuit location....why do I need to remove the + voltage?
Excellent demo.
awsome
It’s great for simple stuff like this but not for a big bulky harness going everywhere on a truck
Very true! It will get you in the vicinity but that’s the best it run do. Especially on a short to ground because receiver wants to trace every ground wire in the whole car.
Mine doesn’t work. It doesn’t pick up any signal on any wire
See this video to verify that the receiver and transmitter are working correctly - ua-cam.com/video/OKVoV6nV5yw/v-deo.htmlsi=mwgWLZ-kC3eAjJZH If the tool does not respond like in the video, there may be a fault with the tool.
Great information 👍
Not the best but thank you. It’s a $250 buy
Can the powerpool meystro can bus plus can buzz minus
Both the Maestro and PP4 - when you select AC P-P mode, the Min and Max numbers will display correct bottom and top voltages for both CAN Hi and CAN Lo.
Nice testers, but the website says every model is SOLD OUT.
But its flawed. Before it can pick up the wires in the harness. And it has a problem working when there's a lot of wires in the harness when its in the low Sensitivity . It needs more R&D on it to work better. I like mine but it can be A little deceiving
Can I apply this to a 48v golf cart battery to troubleshoot the wiring?
Only the currently discontinued Power Probe Hook was capable of handling 48V. The rest are only 12-24V. They can measure higher voltage, but as far as applying voltage from the tool, the Hook is the only probe capable.

Question... If it always powers up displaying an open circuit... how do I know when there is a "real" open to track down?
Once you plug the back probe onto the wire it will determine whether it's open or short. Since you only have it plugged up to the battery and don't have the probe on a wire /circuit it will display open cause it's not hooked to anything, so therefore open. Hope that makes since.
I can't believe you didn't show how to use the PP IV to test a relay circuit.
Maestro don't have the ppect mode & driver mode ?
Receiver too damn big , a extended flexible head or extended solid antenna options , good tool if you working in large open area, it Would be nice if you release a updated smaller Version that will work with the existing transmitter
Limit volts to 5 volts for sensor trouble shooting?
What if the circuit isn’t fully opened? Like just a pinched wire with a few threads still hanging on will it still detect an open circuit?
Couldn't you just rule that out with a load test?
Interesting demo. I was the programmer for Power Probe more than 15 years ago, so these tests look pretty familiar, but not that I remember any details!
A Programmer. I had no idea they were that technical. I thought just a specific use type VOM. May I ask, what is in it that requires programming?
@@robsdeviceunknownphysical programmer, the LCD, rocker switch functions, etc- he writes the programs and flashes them to the chips in the tool
I've had a PP4 for about 10 years and wish I had known some of the tests shown here. I'm not sure how UA-cam knew to recommend this video, but I'm glad it did.
What about doing research on your tools mayn? More than one way to use a prybar ya know!
With the fuel injector test mode, is it the same with the power probe four in the sense that it only works on certain fuel injectors for example I’ve been told it won’t work on direct injection petrol or on diesel injectors is that still the case maybe you could explain that a bit in a video
The Rocker switch has a very low Current ratting while making/breaking a Circuit. when applying + or Ground. Click the switch BEFORE touching the Probe tip to the test point to be tested. The little switch can Handle a lot more current once the Contacts inside are made. Mike M.
Best product ever
where can i buy the demo board are the case?
What about showing it for open circuit testing and short circuit testing.
Does it show any graphical representation of a signal such as a square wave?
The Power Probe Maestro does have that function
@@13GADGETMAN could you make a new video showing real world problems on a car you are a great teacher this is a good I have the original I learned from you things that can do I never new I sure like more lessons
Thanks for the video
Does it have driver test mode? I don't see it in the menus
Does the maestro have driver test mode?
No... Oddly that is one function that did not carry over from the PP4.
Can you make a video about maestro’s power feed test when conditions need to be present for the tool displays the arrows on the upper right conner to enter feed test . I saw the video on pp4 is easy to use that mode but on this video I was hoping to see that you show that feature on the maestro . Great videos
Hi, great demo, thank you. Can you advise if Power Probe will sell these demo boards. I am a trade teacher and this looks much more professional than my set up?
Hi Rick. So far, I custom build these, but they have been talking about producing this new single case style in quantity. If they do I will post about here.
@@13GADGETMAN , thank you, I hope they do so as I can present the demo more clearly
What is the diffrence between the ect 3000 and the ect 2000 besides the color and design?
The biggest difference is the hand-held receiver. With the ECT2000 once you locked to the transmitter signal, you were stuck at that sensitivity level (distance from wire to receiver) and you could not change the sensitivity withouth turning off the receiver and starting again. The ECT3000 receiver has adjustable sensitivity even after locked in and LED indicators show the distance setting, about 1 inch for every LED lit, kind of like a depth indicator. Also the ECT2000 receiver would auto shut off after about 30 seconds without receiving the transmitter signal, so again you would have to start over again, re-lock the signal, etc.
@@13GADGETMAN thank you for sharing.
Who repairs these probes, I take it you have to send it to power probe
The best demonstration I have seen using this tool
Where can I find that box
great.
