Hello! :) I'm Adrian and I run a small guitar pedal business in Poland. On my channel, I will share my experience with pedal building including tips on how to start, beginner guides, how to build pedals from kits, and also demos of my own designs.
The Effect Pedal Based On The Big Muff Fuzz Circuit Can Sound Different
In a recent live stream on my second Polish channel, we built a new pedal based on the classic Big Muff circuit. Now, before you think, “Oh great, another Big Muff clone,” let me stop you right there. This isn’t just a clone - this is the Space Muffin.
Today, I’m breaking down why, even though it’s built on a well-known circuit, this pedal sounds totally different. Guitar pedals are made up of electronic components that shape the sound of your instrument in all kinds of ways, and we’ve taken the Big Muff apart block by block, experimented with the design, and ended up with something fresh and exciting.
During the stream, we tweaked the original design by swapping components and removing others, resulting in a unique distortion sound. The result? The Space Muffin, complete with an extended EQ (Tone & Mids controls), two operation modes, and an octave boost mode that brings out some sweet lows and octave harmonics when you crank it up.

I'm really not judging or opposing, only trying to figure it out. If you started selling this new pedal, would you advertise it as a new design, or call it a clone? Or maybe indicate it as "inspired by"?
Well it's a new pedal, there are many pedals based around the same schematics. Check out the "Big Muff Page" for example, you can google it. There are many pedals from different brands that follow the same circuit with small changes. Some advertise them as "inspired by" and some as completely new designs.

Good pedal sound. I like how the lowered octave doesn't interfere with higher parts. It makes the whole thing sound so much more organic.

I modded a big muff only by removing parts. I removed the tone circuit, clipping diodes, and a whole gain stage. It's still thick and has plenty of gain and volume but it's more wide open.

You are awesome. I have found this with building single transistor fuzz circuits. The location of pots, type of pot ie linear or log. The addition of a tone circuit. I use a simple tone circuit from a boutique 1950s valve amp. These components added to existing circuits create new pedals. Thanks.

Are you familiar with switch that activates the guitars fx pedal when the switch is released? common effects pedal activates when pressed right?
It's kind of relay bypass I think.
@@ToneCharmAudio i purchased MVAVE TANK G and its switch is what i mentioned. It feels weird when switching from clean to distorted. i want to replace its switch(if posible) thats why i asked to have some tip/advice..THANK YOU FOR REPLYING

If i matched up the require voltage of stuff could i use a smaller resistor and stuff as long as its in the same voltage range

I’m more of an overdrive person; whenever I play I just can’t do it with fuzz but I’ve seen some people work magic with them
