Playing through the entire first trilogy, and the first two games of the second one, none of the first 3 games even mentioned Emmy, so I expected her to betray the professor at the end of the game.

i feel like this was very forced. emmy is such a likeable character and so devoted to the professor, this didnt fit her character at all. i wish we have had a scene with her meditating and maybe crying, alone, then the professor appears and asks her whats up, she comes up with an excuse, smiles, and walks away, still crying. the professor is left thinking. maybe give us a little bit of backstory as well, once we know shes a "bad guy". this would have made everything way more believable. emmys reveal felt rushed and unfitting for the character. she deserved better.

DUDE I LOVED Emmy! I always wondered how she left before the DS trilogy. I felt betrayed and at the same time sad she never came back T^T

Hold on so by the end of the game it means emmy was raised by the person who is also layton's father????, I kinda start to see the low point of this game

i adore this scene. the music, the sound design, the lighting, the dialogue… they all contribute to a wonderful atmosphere.

These plot twists of "Hey they are all related all of a sudden" always struck me as weak. Descole after threatening to destroy entire cities almost killing thousand of inocents, trying to kill Layton and Luke several times in the games and in the movie and suddenly he's like "Let me just sacrifice myself for the child a tried to kill a couple of times because it turns out I'm actually a good guy and I knew you were my brother all along"... The Bronev plot twist at least was more consistent with the character but after the Descole/Sycamore and Emmy plot twists it just felt like overkill to me. This was my least favorite game of the series because all of this felt unearned and out of nowhere. Also with the journey around the world the main mystery felt less deep and undercooked.

I love the Layton series, however I must admit that these plot twists aren't that good, they don't have any real build up and they are all crammed at the end. I think they were trying to recreate the amazing plot twists from Unwound Future, but they tried too hard in my opinion.

This is basically just the Snape twist but better.

We don't take betrayals in various media very lightly. Even in video games like this one and in *Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time* recently.

Why did the Layton's want to just adopt hershel?! What, just because hershel is said to be very smart? I mean, what type of people would do that? The actual hershel is also very young.

Keep coming back here even after years of beating this game. Look at 1:45 , little Theodore can't leave his big bro for a sec. Haha

Unlike many game villains, Emmy isn't entirely evil since she felt remorse about betraying Hershel and Luke.

I honestly think that the Bronev family is cursed. Like so far they have lost one or all of their parents, lost their other family members , or lost their loved ones. The siblings lost their parents, and in turn the parents lost their children . Descole lost his daughter later on. Alfendi and Katrielle had their father leave for as of now unknown reasons in the games. Three of the four male members of the family have had their romantic partner pass away. The only exception to this is Alfendi, the worst he had in that regard was Hilda losing interest in him.

If you listen, very carefully, you hear the sound of the Deslay shippers screaming and crying. It is a beautiful sound.

The only thing that even just hinted at that outcome was a tiny little moment in the same game where Emmy kinda looked at Professor Layton weirdly. This was the only hint! Talk about not foreshadowing
