So the issue with called by is it's always good with no downside and usable at any point either during combo, board breaking, or grind game. However with no other cards to counter handtraps in a format with 15-25 slots for handtraps I think that's a necessary evil especially when there are handtraps that also actively counter called by such as ghost belle. Ultimately without called by there is no out to have to "draw the out" when it comes to handtraps with many of handtraps that can fully turn off turns for decks even a single of the normal ones like ash can completely ruin a rogue or lower powered deck Honestly trying to come up with a card that would be protective in nature seems impossible as the game has evolved so much that no matter how you word it youd have to give it the worst drawbacks imaginable for it to be "balanced" since even if its protective in nature itll likely be aggressive in some way as well

I am always saying this. In a game as going-first favoured as yugioh, interaction has to matter

This somehow feels both incredibly powerful and also incredibly bad. Like, Stove searched four times and... just summoned a baord of things that can't beat over a monarch. SUmmon Big Bungus won the zombie deck the entire game. Never before has so much power been in service to... attack face with a bunch of 1800-1900 blank monsters.
