This video was made with Clipchamp. Hi and welcome to my channel and first video. In this video I'm restoring a 1950's Strunk Speed demon Special chainsaw. I enjoy working on projects and stuff and I'm not a professional. This saw was purchased at Frank B Heming lawn and garden in Peterborough Ontario Canada in the 1950's. Feel free to comment below on what year you might think it is. Thanks fo...
Damn, nice work, love it..Always liked the exhaust note of those Moto-Skis😀
@markjohnston933 Hey Thanks! Ya me too!
Nice work😊
@@kodiakyamaha8688 Thanks !!!
Very well done!!! Back from the era of what was called , "The golden age of snowmobiling" which was 1965 thru 1982.
Thanks!
Great job
Thanks!!!
Lookin fantastic Todd
Thanks!
My first snowmobile was the 440 Capri. I bought it second hand for $200 in 1978. Great first sled. Hearing that distinct exhaust sound really brought back memories!
That's awesome! Ya I love the sound of it too. Thanks.
Put the grate in the barrel, never do one rack hanging. I've found out it gets to hot
Very nice Todd!
Thanks Marcjan!!!
Outdoors Toddy, another amazing vid bud. keep them coming!
Thanks Pete!!!
Well done Toddy, thanks for another great vid! Quality work bud, keep it up.... pneumatic torches.... bahahahahaha!
Lol thanks Pete!!!
that looks like a Regency stove in the opening. I feed one in the kitchen all winter here on the farm. First the moto ski and now outboards. There is a 3 horse merc and a 7.5 evinrude in the barn. Lots to look forward to after the ski doo. John in Manitoba.
Hey that's great! lots of nice projects to look forward to. The woodstove is actually a Pacific energy and i absolutely love using it. Thanks for watching.
thanks Toddy. Great technique on the video. And very useful here. A neighbour has a '70 motoski with the 493 Hirth and low miles but it has been on the ground under a truck cap for 25 years and everything is froze down. Will wait for spring. But I have a '70 Olympique I bought new to work on instead. Did you use rust converter before priming ? And is your spray gun airless ? John in Manitoba.
Hi John. No I didn't but that is a excellent idea. I deceased with a decreaser and vinegar and removed all the rust. Just used a good primer. The sprayer is not air it's electric. Enjoy doing your project! Thanks.
Old School Snowmobile
Damn...7000 miles is a ton for a sled of that vintage
Nice Todd!!
Thank you!
sweet table Toddy!!!
Thanks!
outstanding talent Toddy, thanks for sharing this
Thank you .
Spectacular Toddy!! thanks for showing this.
Cool toy Toddy, cant wait for the next video!
Nice sled. Moto-Ski Capri
Thanks.
Looks like you mastered controlling the temp on the ok joe and not the pit barrel...cuz that is what gonna determine your tenderness...they both look good tho
Well done!
I love my PBC. People get a little flustered with the temperatures, because they’re expecting it to behave like a smoker - it’s a COOKER. I just let it cook. When it looks done, you take it out. If you wanna be fancy, you probe it with a thermometer. Not much too it lol.
👍
gosh the oklahoma looks good 🤤
👍
Looks pretty good! Whats the name of the song? I like it
Thanks! East bound and down is the song name. 👍
By the multi talented legendary country singer Jerry Reed.
I’ve never had any luck with the PBC. It runs way too hot and cooks too fast. Ribs can go from almost done to burnt within minutes! Also, everything is too smoky.
Honestly PBC is my go to bbq. Just adjust your bottom air intake and that will slow I down. 👍
@@outdoorstoddy72 I had it almost closed, with only an 1/8” gap. Both rods in place and lid secured.
Oh ok.
Start with fewer hot coals in chimney starter.
@@Anteater23 I’ve used as little as 6 coals using a chimney and the temperature still gets out of control. I’ve since then got a Backwoods Smoker and it holds temps consistently for hours. I’ve pretty much given up on the PBC and only use it for things like Chicken and baked potatoes. Funny thing is I had a WSM for years and it cooked flawlessly. The PBC is somewhat of a hit or miss subpar cooker.
nice job!
Thanks!
Nice outdoor table!
Thanks!
I bought one of these new in 72 for $ 625.00 ca loved it put on 6500 miles good .The motor was awesome .😮
Hey that's awesome. They are a good old snowmobile.
I wouldn't put gas in it after restoration.
One word...MAGNIFICENT.
Thank you!
Nicely done! Looks great! Where did you find a track for it? I've got a '75 Cadet I plan on refurbishing sometime in the future.
Thanks! Guy on the Moto-ski Facebook group had one.
@@outdoorstoddy72 Awesome, Thanks!

thats pretty cool, glad to hear it run at the end, great video 👍👍👊👊
Thanks!!!👍
That thing looks like a beast!!! Great Vid Toddy, thanks for sharing. looking forward to vid #2
Thanks. 😉
looks & sounds great. Do you use a gasoline-resistant paint, like bake-cured engine enamel or something? I've thought about painting some saws, but I figure gasoline will strip most paints & clear coats... and between filling the tank or draining it for storage, i figure gas will eventually come into contact with the paintjob.
Thanks. I had an auto body shop color match automotive paint for me. I'm not sure what it is.
screen piece goes around starter cup I think not on top of the cylinder. always place on cardboard or some type of padding on your drive when running it so you do not scratch the paint all to crap. awesome job.
OK thanks. I appreciate it.
Mooi werk Todd
Thanks.
Great job!
Thank you
