I was born on the bank in the Washitaw river in a Kiowa comanche teepee daddy had a hard time mom made his eyes shine lord, it was just us three (?) and i did that pow wow thang daddy showed up with his stand up guitar and then we rocked i believe im a love child and im running wild hope it dont take too long im a love you im a try to make you happy you got to let me sing my song mom said to so...
Obviously Jed was the shit or you wouldn't see him ripping it with the ones he performed together with. I mean look at the concert for Bangladesh as just one example of the talented artists that he was a part of.
Reservation Dogs brought me here.
佐々木亮介のインスタライブから来た人❤
leon Russell vocals?
Did the dog's bring you? We've been waiting.
Let's go to SONICS bro🔥🔥
Reservation Dogs spotlights gem after gem of amazing Native musicians .
Superb, seminal album
Guitar and a Fender amp
Still have this album all these years later.
I love that ending.
Drumming swinging cosmos
Why wasn’t his song huge ,,I love it
What a great song
Absolute masterpiece, and utterly unknown. Thanks for posting!
Traduction française please
Speechless
Phillips wrote this for Genevieve Waite, who passed away in May of 2019. Pretty screwed up individual, Papa John, but what a talent. A shame.
Hey a guy that fucked his daughter talking about a girl bleeding out in his basement and skinning another one.
Recently watched PBS Independent Lens: Rumble-The Indians That Rocked The World. Great info. Also found out that Jesse plays guitar solo on Jackson Brown's Doctor My Eyes. Now THAT is some really great guitar playing.
yeah, that was a good documentary ,saw it the other day and now i'm checking out some of the artists featured on it.
they weaned me ridin bareback that dog tied my ears back
Quintessentiel !
This is crap
Yeah! but a beautiful piece of crap!
clapton plays the lead on this
Great song. This song alone was worth the price of the Muleskinner album. And yet, this remains a classic album. It was the only time these guys performed and recorded together. Sadly, Clarence White died tragically shortly after the recording session.
Clapton is on this album somewhere.
How to represent JED! You were one good Skin cousin, wish you were here.
CATFished just south of Tishomingo many times as a kid ..bathed in the mud of the Washita
Where you have the question mark he says: "And they weaned me riding bareback"
Thanks Spencer, that verse has always eluded me. Will fill in when I get the chance.
buysometrysome "Well they weaned me riding bareback/In fact I(sic?) tied my hair back" .... I know for sure the first part of this couplet is correct and I know he says tied my hair back, but the first line of the second part of the couplet sure is hard to know for sure.
buysometrysome also instead of van to ride I'm pretty sure its "pen to write" bc he is addressing the moms concerns about letting Jesse go on tour with Conway Twitty whom is the first performer Jesse had road gigs with.
Spencer Livingston-Gainey He was a very consistent letter writer. There is an exhibit about him at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Okla (owned by the Cherokee Nation) where they have many of his letters on display. Love this artist and thank you so much for putting up this song.
Yes, and if I may add it was a "Stella" guitar not 'stand up guitar'.....Stellas were inexpensive wildly produced back in the day ... Leadbelly was famous for his Stella 12 String......Peace God Rest Jesse Ed .....
Loved this entire album. Played it to death.
Couldn't resist! Had to come back for another listen.....
I was born on the bank of the Washita river
Jesse Ed was also in Taj Mahal's early band and then went on to work with John Lennon. He's all over the "Walls and Bridges" album. His last major collaboration was with John Trudell, helping him put his poetry to music.
Just discovered this on vinyl recently and this such a great tune!!! Best one on the record I'd say. Good record.
Written by Gene Clark.
Thanks for showing the lyrics. I haven't read them before.
Thank you for these great comments.
Joel Scott Hill was the other guitarist on the 1st album... who was also underrated..
have you heard his solos on BB Kings 'LA Midnight' ... I.d love to be able to share them.. he stars on 2 tracks along with Joe Walsh and one with just him and BB ... Amazing sound quality and engineering for the time.. 72.. so i've had it 40 yrs and it still sends a shiver up my spine... some good stuff on two on' Gene Clarks albums from the same era.. also his solo on' Heal Your Heart' on Steve Miller's 'Recall the Beginning ... A Journey From Eden is a real pearl as well... thanx
Love Willie!
man, I've been looking for that Muleskinner album for years. Thanks for posting...
There are 2 pressings of the LP, the original pressing on Warner Bros (1974) and a 1978 repress on Ridge Runner.
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed.
So glad to find this tune on the net....such a beauty...thanks!!!!
Love this tune, first time. Thank goodness for you tube...Thank you my friend for the posting.
Got the vinyl of this and his other LP too. Great stuff. undrstated guitar player always in the groove.
I know my friend, Fritz Richmond, engineered this album. I often went to Studio B at Electra Records in LA while they worked on this record!
the kinda out of phase vocals made the album. not a bad track on it. one of Ian's best. Fritz nailed it.
awesome album, awesome song
You are all welcome. Glad you enjoy this as much as I do.
thanks a lot, not enough ppl appreciate this guy!
smokin!!! stuff!! thanks for the tunz
Sort of a Poco feel to this
