Knowledge as a Public Good: Joshua Bate on DeSciWorld's Proof of Knowledge Protocol
Welcome to another episode of the DeSci Podcast! Today, we’re excited to host Joshua Bate, Founder of DeSciWorld. DeSciWorld is a community-driven initiative dedicated to facilitating the onboarding of individuals into the Decentralized Science (DeSci) space.
It provides users with the tools to view, engage with, and understand everything happening in the world of decentralized science.
In this episode, Joshua shares the vision behind DeSciWorld and its role as a global hub for the decentralized science community. We touch on Joshua's frank thoughts on the DeSci movement and how open discussion and unadultered knowledge transfer, alongside powerful incentives, are necessary to grow the space.
We also discuss the “Proof of Knowledge protocol”, DeSciWorld's upcoming technical product where users can upload data and receive incentives whenever their contributions are utilized. Joshua addresses concerns about spam and low-quality dataset submissions, as well as potential technical approaches to ensure that the data used to train AI remains high-quality and reliable.

Great insights!
Nice talk Mike! Glad you pointed out how little big Pharma capital is actually available to startups! Most of the pharma budgets go toward late stage clinical trials and marketing
🔥
Heck yeah Benji ! This work is going to save so many lives by bringing medicines to the world that normally get holed up in the chasm. Awesome talk 🥳🥳
Love this line of thinking
Guys, do not buy this token. They are stealers... Please find the transaction ID, they stole from my wallet. When I tried to explain in Discord, they just ban it. Etherscan transaction ID: 0xa6792b04e62b28fc0220050db2eb86cdd498aae154a70a9d237e786279ea4d4b they are the same with hair dao
Thanks for sharing this conversation!
historically maybe but I don't see how women's health is anymore to anyone else's?
Competitive governance lol. Otherwise known as the regulatory race to the bottom. There are good reasons why life insurance companies and banks are heavily regulated. See FTX for example. Would you trust your life insurance payout to a thinly capitalized and lightly regulated company in Honduras??
Great Talk on the subject. Organ preservation will save lives and give those who want it the choice to live longer. I hope I get to see mankind make it back to the Moon and then Mars, but I know still lot to be done.
The life-extension obsessives keep dying at ordinary ages, but their fans are in denial of their mortality. Suzanne Somers was a life-extension celebrity who spoke at those foolish RAAD Fests, for example.
There are also cognitive reasons why we aren't making progress in "living forever," despite the ridiculous claims coming from guys like Ray Kurzweil, Aubrey de Grey and that creepy Bryan Johnson character. Terror Management Theory in psychology, which has substantial experimental support, sheds light on why humans have trouble thinking about death rationally.
Right on
This emerging sector of Desci is incredible! I am excited to see what is possible in the future!
The volume is a bit low.
Is there a link to day 2 live stream? Where can I find it?
They will be uploaded over the next couple of day.
Would be amazing to add some timestamps for the different talks 💫
Done.
Kudos to Andrew V and Andrew B for getting up on stage and repping HairDAO to the DeSci world!
wtf is a digital nomad
Count me in as CED (Chief Environmental Designer) for Prospera, or any of the other "EcoTopias" emerging currently worldwide. "Tech" is fine for business, but we must remember to include and integrate NATURE into every aspect of citizens' lives to ensure optimum health and wellness long-term, especially in light of the desire to live to 120+.
Thanks for sharing this.
Is there a token/coin for this project? And where can I invest?
$LAKE 🚀
It's the job of scientists to investigate the why until it's understood. This is the future direction of science.
Very good point! To me, this would also include attempts to reproduce results of other research regardless of whether the results could be reproduced successfully or not. It’s very valuable but may be considered less prestigious by some.
