@@des7324 PAL units are indicated by an “E” after the model. so, the sony SR42E would be the PAL version of the sony* SR42 NTSC camera

@@rupert6478 Do you know if the PAL version has issues recording in NTSC regions? I live in the US and have the chance to buy the PAL version for cheap, but i’ve heard about PAL cameras having trouble recording artificial lighting in NTSC regions. I can’t seem to find a clear answer

Hi, it requires a USB cable to connect the camera to the Mac. Your Mac should automatically identify the camera as an external device. If it does not work, you may want to try connect Camera - Dock - Mac. Otherwise, you should explore the Mac settings on recognizing external devices. Hope this helps!

@@jiaweili7302 do you mean the external dock that comes with it? I bought mine used and it didn’t come with the dock. Do you think I need it?

@@carashauf3980 Yes, I meant the external dock. I don't think it's a MUST but nice to have. Technically, you can transfer the files from the camera to Mac directly.

@@jiaweili7302 I have so much trouble. I’ve been trying for days and bought so many things online a usb cable for the camera to my Mac, and a dock. And still nothing shows up on the Mac .. it seems to not recognize me plugging the camera in through the dock and through just the camera

I use FCPX on Mac.

How did you convert vid to your laptop? I’m thinking about getting it too :)

Hi, sorry for the late reply. The files can be transferred via the USB cable that comes with the camera, or any USB cable you have. Or you can use a memory stick, which is microSDHC, which is not so common these days but still available on the market.

This may be useless information at this point, but my camcorder didn't come with the bay that lets you plug it into your computer, so what I did was get a cable that converts the digital output of this camera to RCA. Then, I got a USB to RCA capture card. You can use any recording software for it. It should be named "AV TO USB2.0", and you can use a Video Capture Device to capture the video. Hope this helped.

@@Hamiscool mine didn’t come with a bay either :( so to clarify you got two chords? Sorry I’m so new to this haha

must have the dock to plug into computer. there’s no plug for usb on the actual camera.

Thanks! I did not edit at all after exporting. All I did were exporting, cut and drag around the footages.

it's because the camcorder films interlaced video, and Li Jiawei didn't de-interlace, she just dragged footage around. hope this helps

If the price is below $50, it's a good camera to play with.
