Science during the Semana Santa in Segovia
In my classes at the Essex summer school Albert Satorra from Spain participated. He was a student in mathematics and a specialist in telling crasy stories in Essex. Later he asked me, by email, if he could work with me for his thesis. I was not so sure, so I suggested that we have a meeting in Spain to talk about it. If we would not decide to work together we had at least a nice holiday. We went for the meeting to the semana santa in Segovia..

After studying and teaching the work of Karl Jörerkog. I thought it was time to meet him. There was an opportunity to go with your car on the boat to Gothenborg and one got even skiss for free with the tickets. So, we went skiing around Gothenborg and after that by car to Uppsala where Karl Jörekog lived.

The day after we had seen the elegant dances we were confronted by a large procession of local people. It looked v ery relaxed but it was not clear if it was a religuous processions or a political manifestation. What ever it was, it was a very well organized friendly event.

On Bali we stayed in a hotel in the town Ubud. This town is very different from the towns on Java. The mayor difference is the silence in the streets and another difference is that the buildings are nearly all in the style of many years ago not the same style as all over the world. It is a very relaxing experience.

On a trip in Maleisia we saw beautiful paintings on an egg. We bought the egg and the painter told us that the scenes, which he had painted, were of Bali where he came from. At that time, we decided that we should also visit Bali and that happened many years later

In 2010 we were invited to teach in Indonesia. This was for me very attractive because the family of my mother came from Indonesia and we were told frequently that it was a very nice country. So we accepted the invitation and decided to look also at other parts of the country
