On a scale of 1 to 10, how easy is it to apply nitrogen producing microbes to the soil?!
Переглядів 1023 місяці тому
We've been applying Pivot Bio PROVEN40 to our soil since 2020. Each year we increase our use and each year we are continued to be impressed by our results. It's one of my FAVORITE ag things to geek out about. Learn just how EASY it is to apply and why it is such a huge part of cash flow puzzle. Check out previous videos to learn more from years past! Harvesting corn in a drought - did our crop PROVE itself?!
Переглядів 38110 місяців тому
Harvest is here and done. Our crop didn't just survive, it honestly thrived. Our growing season was full of ALLLLL the obstacles. The worst drought we've seen in our lives, multiple tornadoes, countless hail storms, and wind gusts of 90mph being more common than not. It was a doozy of a year for weather, y'all. Our crop was tested and it stood the tests well. Yes, our yields were down. BUT we s...
Growing corn in a drought and PROVING it with Pivot Bio
Переглядів 366Рік тому
Growing corn in Nebraska in 2023 has been NO JOKE. We had almost no rain, we had to run our pivots before we could even plant (Levi's dad and grandpa don't ever remember having to do this), we had some insane storms with high winds and hail, and again... almost no rain. Follow along to scout our crops with us throughout the season and hear from Levi about what and why the looks the way it does!...
The results are in - Did Pivot Bio prove itself?
Переглядів 670Рік тому
Every single thing we use on our farm earns every single acre it is applied too. A new product must prove it has a return on our investment before we will go all in and scale it across our farm. It's been a three year process, but Pivot Bio's PROVEN40 product proved itself and we are going all in on our corn acres next year - watch to learn why! How we increased yield AND applied less Nitrogen per acre

Ever heard of a CCI meter? It measures the Chlorophyll Concentration Index in plants. I hadn’t heard of it either. But I got to use one live in our corn fields this summer and I was impressed. Now WHY is this such a big deal? This meter allowed us to measure the chlorophyll concentration in corn plants throughout the growing season, at that moment in time. We know that chlorophyll is an indicat...
How to INCREASE YIELD by eliminating weed pressure

TEST PLOT: How 30 acres of corn can make or break our farm.
Переглядів 4314 роки тому
This miiiiight be a little late. Life got busy, we had a baby, and I didn't get around to posting this until now. BUT we are harvesting our test plot this week and wanted y'all to have an idea of WHY we plant a test plot and HOW we go about it. Not a lot of farmers plant test plots, but we swear by it. Basically, we pick a 30ish acre piece of a field each year and plant 8 rows of 30 different v...
HOW TO GET 50 BULLS TO CROSS THE HIGHWAY!
Переглядів 1684 роки тому
All those cows and bulls that we run on corn stalks each winter can only stay on each field for so long. Each group has to be moved frequently to a fresh field to ensure the cattle have access to plenty of feed. It's a lot easier to walk or "drive" the cattle down the road to the next field instead of trailering them in several loads. Follow along to see how we move the groups pretty seamlessly...
WE GET PAID TO BABYSIT COWS?!
Переглядів 1814 роки тому
Yep, you read that right. In addition to our own herd, each winter we watch about 1,000 head of cattle on our corn stalks. Most of the cows are from ranches in Western Nebraska and Kansas. Corn stalks are a great winter feed option for cattle ranchers! The cows also clean up most of the corn left on the ground after harvest. This cuts back on the volunteer corn farmers would see in their fields...
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A COW MATERNITY WARD
Переглядів 2544 роки тому
Just like humans, nursing cows have different nutrient and calorie needs than pregnancy cows. How on earth does a farmer keep track of how much to feed to who?! Follow us along on our nightly chore routine to find out! Who is Double O Farms anyways?! We are Levi and Jena Ochsner and our family has been raising cows and crops in small town Nebraska since 1885. We, along with our son Stetson, liv...
HELP! OUR TRACTOR BROKE AND WE CAN'T FEED OUR COWS!!

Such is life on the farm. Some days run smooth with no set backs and some days you spend the whole day trying to fix an implement so you can get your livestock fed. Who is Double O Farms anyways?! We are Levi and Jena Ochsner and our family has been raising cows and crops in small town Nebraska since 1885. We, along with our son Stetson, live on the original family homestead that is nestled jus...
ICE ICE BOVINE: CHOPPING ICE & TURNIP FIELDS
Переглядів 944 роки тому
Each winter we take in about 1,000 head of cattle from ranchers in western Nebraska and Kansas. We run these cows on our corn stalks. Some fields are spread with turnip seed using an aerial spray plane. Turnips are an excellent option for the cattle to eat. They provide nutrients and high moisture content. AND the cows LOVE the turnips. The cows do a great job cleaning up the corn that is lefto...
Feeding that COW CHOW
Переглядів 3824 роки тому
It’s winter here in Nebraska. Most of our cattle are still out grazing corn stalks. BUT, when it snows we supplement them with extra feed to ensure all of their nutritional needs are being met. Follow along as we mix hay and silage to feed the cows. Get a little laugh from Stetson as he navigates his little tractor and bosses us around a little bit. Also, stay tuned because over 120 baby calves...
Cows on the ROAD! Say WHAT?!
Переглядів 2014 роки тому
Follow along with us as we go on a cattle drive! In the winter we keep our cows along with several hundred cows from other ranchers on corn stalks. The stalks provide a great source of protein for the cattle and are an excellent winter feed option here in Nebraska. Once each field is grazed down, we move the cows by walking them to their next field, also called CATTLE DRIVES!! One of our favori...

Oh I wish we had corn fields. South Arkansas is timber country. It’s (in my opinion) such a waste of acres. They grow trees and there’s really nothing else lol. I get the importance of trees. Don’t come for me lol
