A Conversation with Kathleen Jennings Part One
Thank you for this analysis! Flyaway is a favourite of mine. Jennings' tale reminds me particularly of German romanticist Ludwig Tieck's writings e.g Der Runenberg, which were more animist in character than those of his contemporaries.
Talking about different names for aboriginal horror has me thinking it should be language and lore relevant, since there are over 200 languages that are going extinct the name given to the stories made by the people should be in a language relevant to the lore of the story/themes/culture it’s referring to since there’s not typically just one name for something with so many languages
Not indigenous myself but I think taking the Eurocentric ideas out of the centre and using indigenous language would be important for a lot of aspects, especially in things drawn from an indigenous perspective.
Very well-presented lecture. Thank u.
Thank you ❤!
Thanks ❤
Soon is one of the best horror novels I’ve read - as someone in the UK I definitely found it introduced me to a way of Australian life I had no idea about.

Hello, I'm Queenie Chan, and I want to add an additional comment to this video. This interview was filmed before the rights to "The Dreaming" left the original publisher, so what I say about "The Dreaming" isn't quite what's happening anymore. FYI, "The Dreaming" is being republished in 2023 with an Australian publisher, and with minor modifications to the original story to keep up with the times. It's also getting a 4th volume and a possible sequel, and it has become a Lovecraftian take on "Picnic at Hanging Rock" for that reason. If I speak about "The Dreaming" now, I would probably say something different to this interview. Thanks!
Thanks this will definitely help year 9s in Australia
Thanks! Is this standard ninth grade reading right now? :)
