Budget tracking is really helpful! I recommend a budget spreadsheet with formulas for anyone wanting to start out and since I don't really spend cash, I just look through my statements at the end of the month. I continue doing it because I have some funds I track that roll over each month to save for bigger things

I started doing this in 2020 and downloaded a budgeting spreadsheet from Google. I can't find it online anymore but there are lots out there. I've used the same one for 5 years now and make a new tab every year. I record it all month by month, but I also have a column at the end of the spreadsheet that tallies my spending for each category that year, and final totals working out how much I spent in the year, and how much I saved that year. Lastly I have a total that works out how much I've saved from all the previous years' tabs added to the current year's tab to work out how much I've saved since I started keeping track of all my finances. You don't need to be an Excel wizard to do all this, it's just sum formulas, I'm definitely not skilled in Excel.

I use an app, it does basically the same: tracking your income and spendings. But it counts everything for you at the end of the month or even year. I don’t have to manually do it, so it helps. I’ve also been doing this for several years

I would be really interested to know an example of your actual values...mostly because I do this as well! Keep receipts, create spreadsheets with categories... We are so similar :) ! Lots of banks apps have similar category features now. I exclusively use Monzo for day to day purchases because of this. Annoyingly they’ve made custom categories a paid account only feature but the standard free account has 12 categories set as standard. My wage, rent and flat bills all go out of my nationwide ac and then I transfer my monthly spending money in Monzo. Works really well for me and takes very little time and effort to get the insights of categorisation.

I prefer realistic living. But that’s just me. I feel like for me personally I can connect with the creator and will typically be a long time subscriber/follower/supporter. That’s my unsolicited opinion. 😅🤣 I have stopped watching those creators videos who have “big production” vlogs. I just don’t enjoy them. I will watch other content by them just not the vlogs. Love watching your videos! 💕🥳🤩

About the voice thing. Singer here yes I notice my sinuses and my throat feel diff on my period. Mensturation deffo affects my voice.

My overall idea of how my life was going to go as an adult was definitely challenged when things just didn’t work out. No idea what I want to do in terms of career and major life choices. But your videos are a reminder that I don’t have to know specifically, to be happy. To try and experiment is the only way I’ll find out. This mini rant is a bit off topic from the main topic of your video, but I’ve watched your content for years for you, and your positive personality. I’m glad you talked about this. I have many people in my extended family who’s homes are picture perfect and I constantly beat myself up because I can’t figure out why I can’t keep up things like they do. I always compared myself to them because I thought it was just normal. But I’m glad to hear I’m not alone.

It seems like people who make aesthetic focused videos are creating (as you said) very shallow and commercial-like content. Melanie Murphy talks a lot about all the things you spoke about. It’s very admirable that you put so much thought into what you create. Aaaaand I love your videos for it!

Dear Isabella, I don't watch other influencers - only you. The rest of my UA-cam is filled with other types of things-recommendations of whatever I'm into at the moment-but I generally try and stay away, and I don't have Instagram or tiktok (a video you made a while ago about phone and social media addiction stuck with me so much actually, it really was a major factor for me in that decision). However, I've been watching you for years and it's a little strange to say, but it's like you've been a friend to me. Your videos are a real comfort, especially since I recently moved to an area where I know absolutely no one and I don't get out much! I used to watch lots of beauty videos - especially years ago when that sort of stuff was popular on UA-cam. That's how I found you - one of your impressively long nail videos (still don't know how you cope/manage that haha) that was really popular. I stopped watching that sort of stuff yeeears ago - but kept watching you. I love watching your videos - regardless of the content, because I think you're very real and I like that so much. That is literally the reason I watch. You're my age, also English, also into girly things like skincare and are nostalgic for the era I grew up in - early 2000s. But I like your videos best of all for their sense of realism. I don't want to watch someone polished and perfect - I just want to watch a real person who I can relate to. I feel like so few people live in the real world anymore - but I feel like you do. You are right - you shouldn't compare yourself to anyone else. Girl please please don’t feel pressured by this - I yearn for authenticity in content, I found Jenna Marbles leaving UA-cam so sad because she was so real and I enjoyed her content the most. I empathise with creators feeling like this, but as a content consumer I don’t actually WANT hyper polished content, I think a lot of people feel the same and are desperate for someone just to be themselves. Weird thing to compare it to, but I feel like it’s like when men look up to extreme body builders and get very muscular and go on steroids - when the vast majority of people don’t actually find that attractive. It’s appealing to them solely because it’s not the most attainable thing to do, therefore being seen as social currency. I’ll often go back and watch peoples older content because it has more heart. Your content definitely has heart, so keep doing you ❤

Isabella I’ve been quietly following for a few years now. I was hooked in with the brats restoration videos but I stayed for your personality alone. You are a girl’s girl 1,000%. I’m not very girly and I’m overweight so I never really felt very feminine for most of my life. Most beauty channels feel like an exclusive club that I’m not welcome too. But something about your videos just felt so personal to me. You’re so friendly and realistic in your videos. I LOVE the realism in your videos because I think those people that are so aesthetic in all their videos just feel so unrealistic to me. I love how you feel like a real person. I genuinely feel this like big sister vibe from you and it’s so comforting and really makes me feel comfortable in my femininity without feeling pressured to be perfect all the time. I feel like people forget that an " aesthetic " used to be the result of personality and influences overtime, those similarities birthed communities and subcultures but now it seems we're doing it all backwards. We curate the look in hopes of attracting certain people wich is... So wrong. It feels like cosplay . But i understand how we ended up there . Anways , i feel like we all need to take a step back sometimes , especially creatives . We need to allow ourselves some time away from influence in order to make something new , our own little world instead of being immersed in someone else's. This is definitely understandable, and it really does happen to all of us no matter how much we are aware of this kind of thing. I've also unfollowed some accounts that I still really like, but the comparison was getting too much for my already bad insecurities. I actually agree with the analysis of most influencer content today from that video, and it's something I've noticed myself. I really respect and appreciate those to take time to create something with substance even if it doesn't look ''perfect.'' I think we all have ''aesthetics'' in a sense, but I think it's very important to remember that we as human beings, are not aesthetics in of ourselves and neither are our lives. We should always strive to be the best we can be, and create the type of environment that we feel the best in. All whilst remembering that life is not aesthetic, it's messy and complex and so are we - and that is more than ok. It's where the true beauty and true living is found. I think you've got the right idea by focusing on your real life surroundings and just improving yourself in honest and real ways. I think you're doing well, Isabella. Your videos have always been an inspiration because I love how real you are! They've actually inspired me to chase my dreams and just to be more of myself - which I think is what we need more of online. A lot of these influencers have help too, even teams of people that help them film and edit, etc. They might also have more recourses. You do all your work yourself and yet I think it has a better effect on people. So I hope this is encouraging to you. There are so many people here that still get so much out of your type of content, and I think it means a lot. <3

To hear someone discuss this is so refreshing! UA-cam has always been the main platform I’ve used for over 13 years - the other ones can be so draining or even boring at times for the exact reasons you mentioned. I sometimes find that I have to remind myself, particularly in the past few years more so, that it’s not 2013 anymore - and that’s partly why so many videos look unappealing to watch for me. I miss the chit chats, the fun. Definitely part of the reason why I find your channel and online personality so wonderful - even after so many years, you haven’t changed the slightest to appeal the ever changing algorithm. You’ve always been real and insightful. With online creators and influencers, I really have grown to miss the content that looks slightly closer to being unpolished. I find it helps to remind the audience that, as you said; the person behind the camera is just that, a person behind a camera. (of course in fairness for the person who does it as a job it’ll have to be within reason. It’s not necessarily even about the setup and camera quality - but the overall vibe if that makes sense? There’s a difference in huge shift between someone who strictly follows a script to a tea vs someone who either naturally wings it or allows themselves to break away at times to express their inner thoughts)… I have so many thoughts on this, ahah. 😅 Loved this video, thanks for making this Isabella! You always give such insightful and thoughtful discussions. 🩷
