Tenba Axis 32L Version 2 Review | Best Camera Backpack for Photographers & Filmmakers
In this video, I revisit the Tenba Axis 32L Version 2 Camera Backpack-an upgrade to the original bag I reviewed 4 years ago. After years of use, countless flights, and trips across the U.S. and South America, this backpack is still my go-to for travel gigs. While I usually rely on larger Roadie roller bags for local shoots, this bag fits everything I need when I’m flying-laptop, tablet, two Canon Cinema C70 cameras, lenses, and even a drone. It’s surprisingly easy to fit under most airplane seats too. Tune in to see why I trust this bag for my travel setups and how I pack it!

I just got a new bag from Tenba and figured it was time to post a video. This is the Tenba Attaché 3220W aka the big one. I wanted a new camera bag to hold all my lights as they weren't fitting in a previous bag, and I didn't want to have multiple bags for my lights. I can't wait to try this one out! Nice and helpful review. One question, do the measurements of this bag, depth in particular, not surpass the requirements for luggage size as a carry-on? I know depending on the airline those specifications are slightly different.

    • @thecharleskingshow
      @thecharleskingshow 9 днів тому

      Thanks for watching and for your question! I’m not the manufacturer, so I can’t provide exact specs off the top of my head, but I believe Tenba lists this bag as carry-on friendly on their website. From my personal experience, having used both this version and the original for years, it has fit easily in overhead compartments on most flights. Even on smaller commuter planes, I haven’t encountered issues. For under-seat storage, it works well in spaces without obstacles like a lifejacket bar. If the bag is completely packed to the brim, there might be some tightness on very small planes, but a quick adjustment-like removing the laptop/tablet-usually solves that. Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

    hi there . I currently have a Sachtler Dr Bag 3 but I need something bigger for a Sony camcorder and one FX30 plus accessories. I'm trying to decide between this Tenba and the Shape Camera bag. I know this Tenba is bigger but I wonder which one is better in terms of functionality etc. Just wondering if you compared this tenba to the shape before buying it/ Thanks

    Hi, Does this qualify as a "personal" carry-on bag? Also worth mentioning is the waterproof base on these bags. A good feature if you have to put it on wet ground.

    • @thecharleskingshow
      @thecharleskingshow 3 місяці тому

      Hey, thanks for watching! I don't work for Tenba, so I can't make any guarantees for all airlines. However, I've traveled with the Tenba Axis 32L many times, and it's always fit easily in the overhead compartments of larger planes and even shorter commuter flights like DC>BOS. Since the sides aren't rigid like a Pelican case, it can vary if you pack it really full or have something like a jacket on the outside. For me, it's fit under the seat as well on many flights, but as with any bag that's not a purse or tote, keep in mind some under-seat areas have that bar which reduces the space a bit.

    I checked out your video, thanks for the info here is an update regarding the battery. Like you I brought 3 more batteries for a total of 4 to power this beast of a camera. I did check to see if what I have it setup will work. All my batteries for the Canon R5 did power up the R5, the only thing I notice was on the video modes. On the R5II I set the video mode to 4K Fine but when I put in the R5I batteries it reverted to just 4K...Now this really is not an issue for me, I'm just happy I can power up with the 6 batteries I have for the R5 will work

    I'm getting this backack soon because my Lowepro one is bursting full. I have the in my current Lowepro backpack a Nikon Z6II camera and Samyang 14mm f2.8, Nikon Z 50mm f1.8 S, Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 VR, Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 Contemporary and Nikon Z 28mm f2.8 lenses. I also have ND and polarizer filters in a pouch, USB-C cables, a USB-C powerbank, my Oppo Reno 4 5G mobile phone and spare batteries for my Z6II all stuffed in my backpack. So yeah my Lowepro backpack so full it barely shuts, lol. I have a Benro Tortoise 34C tripod with a GX35 ball head on it's way too, I already have an Asus TUFF Gaming 17" laptop and soon i'll be getting a Sasmsung Galaxy Tab S7+ 12.4" tablet all of it will be going into the Axis 32L backpack when I get it. I carry all my gear everyday in my current Lowepro backpack (minus the laptop which won't fit in), even when I don't take photos the sheer weight helps me keep fit as I walk miles everyday to keep fit. So when I get the Axis 32l and fit all my gear in including my laptop and new Benro tripod the weight is going to be HEAVY!!! But hey carrying weight keeps you fit.

    • @thecharleskingshow

      I have experienced an issue with my handle. In my case it's not something that I feel was a design flaw as I broke a pin inside the handle while aggressively picking up and pulling a very loaded and heavy bag. Luckily they were great with their warranty and it was an easy fix.

    Hi, the locking knob is too small and there is no sync kable connection. Furthermore the built-in internal reflector has an angle of about 68° and not like the B1x 77°. Even Profoto can't do magic. Gratings from Germany

    • @thecharleskingshow
      @thecharleskingshow 5 років тому

      I agree that locking knob is on the smaller side so you can't really torque down on it as much as you would like but I do like the crisp notches so I can easily replicate the angle I have on the light when setting lights up the same. While that Beam angle is different it results in having more of a punch so when I'm not trying to open the light as much I frankly don't notice the difference when compared to my b1 and I'd rather have that efficiency when I'm running on batteries alone. No one is perfect unfortunately but so far aside from the pain in my wallet I'm loving these lights. Greetings from USA B-)
