I mean in Half-Life 2 we see multiple scientists who survived Black Mesa and are actively continuing their research, albeit with the purpose of undoing the lingering effects of the Black Mesa Incident. But in Portal the only living scientist spent the remainder of his life eating beans and scribbling on the walls. Like Doug Rattman did save Chell and technically take down GLaDOS but only by modifying a spreadsheet. A janitor could've done that.

Black Mesa is a typical 1990's government facility whose main security feature is its location in the middle of the desert. They don't *have* to follow typical safety standards, but it's fairly common-sense practice not to stick your hand into places it shouldn't be. They have secretive alien samples, but they're kept under very strict and heavy security and don't seem to have any 'accidents' that we know of. Aperture is the mad genius private company who has to follow safety standards for the investors, but ultimately gets up to some extremely immoral practices because they're disconnected from the government. Untethered and open to these questionable practices, and with an easier supply of population due to proximity, the safety of those within is tied to how useful you are and how far the administrator pushes you in your experimentation. Further progress, but at a higher cost.

A really interesting question indeed. I just discovered your channel, so i dont know how much you've improved over time. i guess the biggest problems of this video are the volume-mix being majorly out of place sometimes and some minor cut timing things. Those are just technical difficulties honestly though. But overall, its a solid video. I would really like to see you improve in the future :)

How do you for a black hole in a portal gun? The real challenge is finding one. But black holes that are lightweight enough to lift only exist at the subatomic scale. Super tiny. Even an asteroid-mass black hole is about the size of a single atom.
