resin is not good to consume
You're absolutely right! We never recommend eating resin.
One of the things I always worry about is the heat generated by curing resin. I was really surprised that the pictures were good to go. Do you use the fast cure to give it that barrier before the deep pour? I think that's the case based on what you are saying but want to make sure. I do a lot of turning with 3D printed scapes and structures and the deep pours have ruined things before. If I had something like this to pre-treat to keep the heat off of the parts that would certainly be ideal. Let me know!
Yes! You can use the Fast Cure Resin as the pre-layer before deeper pours to help secure and seal items (or wood) before that larger pour. You're completely right, deep pours like this can exotherm A LOT, so it's important to do the prep work. @nitasfluidwoodworks anything to add?

Applying heat helps remove any micro or surface bubbles that may have developed.
