Hello all, welcome to the channel! As you may have guessed, my name is Tyler.
I camp constantly, and live and breathe for the outdoors. I am always testing out new gear and exploring new places (in beautiful Muskoka, ON) I am always looking for the next adventure! Come join me as I go canoeing, hot tenting, hiking, cowboy camping, tarp sheltering, and bushcrafting to name a few.
Have questions? Don't hesitate to ask. I love helping people out who are new to camping (or experienced). If you're very shy and don't want to post on the comment section, then shoot me an email. I honestly don't mind and I am not going to judge you for your questions. All of us adventurers had to start somewhere too.
Thanks for popping by. Sit back and watch a few episodes.
Adventure awaits folks.

Is the sheath clip stainless steel?
I can't say for certain, but I would hazard a guess and say no. It is coated very well in any case. I don't see corrosion being an issue.
@@tentingWT I was worried because Japan, where I live, has very high humidity.
I use an electric fence!
I see many people do that now. How heavy is it?
Don't add sticks passed the top secondary combustion holes. If you don't there's more soot, smoke, and the stove won't burn properly.
If you can get your hands on one , japanese maker solotour makes a stainless stove that is almost identical ( large front loading window ) except that it disassembles flat and is about 1/4 the price , just sayin
I'll keep my eyes open for sure. I'll be in the market for a few new stoves for next season.
I can't find these anywhere anymore. Perhaps they got sued by Helinox? Almost identical design, probably got a cease and desist order
You know I think you may be onto something. After reading your comment I searched as well. I can't even find mention of it on OneTigris's website, which is odd. I'll have to keep my eyes open to see if they appear again. That's too bad, it is a really great product!
The Scandi is good for carving. For anything beyond carving it is too fragile. The modified Scandi edge reinforces and improves the edge where it is more durable and less prone to rolling, chipping and dulling. I prefer a modified Scandi for general camp and field use. Mine is a great knife.
Any experience with the gstove? I have a small and larger tents which can use stoves....I am more inclined to the gstove for the smaller tent and Caminus M for bigger tent. They both seem to be solid. All edges are fully welded, not spot welding and no bolts or rivets. I seriously doubt these stainless steel stoves can last a long time under these high temp especially the ones use rivets and screws.... They are ridiculously expensive. They are happy to use materials that degrade in few years and make us buy again.
I haven't used anything from gstove as of yet, but I have owned a few winnerwells that are also fantastic quality. Maybe next season I will pick one up! Fully welded is the only way to go for sure.
@@tentingWT I was contemplating for winnerwell, but kind of concern about the opening on the stove top which may leak smoke or CO into the tent... I don't put cookware directly on open flame as it will blacken the bottom....
Admittedly, if you don't have a clean burn going then the winnerwells do tend to let a bit of smoke through the plate. (I mean a super dirty burn) I've been using it for two years and I can count on one hand how many times this has happened. Not perfect, but not terrible either. The removable plate is handy to make toast on. That's all I've got lol
Great review. I have the Luxe Megahorn but need more room.
Hey thanks for watching! I've been considering the Pomoly circle 6. Looks really decent for 300 bucks. And massive.
Bet you he's going to boil water and time it.
Lol never. Boil times are not important to me!
Gear list please
-Onetigris camp cot -Onetigris camp chair -Onetigris worktop table -Solostove campfire -Chilly Moose cooler -Bluetti EB3A power supply -Niteize led rope light -Firemaple lantern
Good information thanks
No problems. Thanks for watching!
I felt the same way,it feels smaller then it should seem.....gittin the Cozshack soon.love onetigris. Great vid.
Right!? Something about it makes it feel small, even though it's actually massive. Maybe it's just too narrow. I love OneTigris as well, great affordable gear. Thanks for watching!
@@tentingWThave you seent the cozshack yet?need ta ifn ya havent.....
Nice video 😊
Thank you very much!
was looking for a canvas tent on the jungle site, aside from lack of floor, it's a great looking tent, i have a nylon tent for summer. i'm planning a bike trip to start in a few months, i wanna get out fast as a last hurrah. ebike, even when i was in perfect shape i'd have needed a motor for the crap i wanna cart, single wheel trailer and a solar panel kit, if i stay for two days i can even run a pi and portable monitor while charging. i would NEVER trust a modern nylon tent to keep warm and not burn down with a campstove fire. even if it wasn't a decent tent, this is only new scotland, pretty warm. your note about bears makes me think that a portable stereo with black metal is a good idea.
Thanks so much for watching! It is a fantastic tent. Still my favorite by far. I have a few nylon hot tents and though I have never had an issue with them, they still make me feel uneasy at times with a stove in them. I think OneTigris has come out with a few smaller canvas tents since this video that would be more travel friendly, but much smaller. I hope you get out on your trip!
@@tentingWT landlord's got all the paperwork to get these 4 units emptied for complete reno... throwing 2thou and 3 months rent at us... compared to hitchhiking across canada in the late 80's with 400 bucks, this'll be a breeze. it does mean i do it now or never.
A real life video…. Nobody’s perfect 👍🇨🇦
Perfectly imperfect maybe. I make a lot of mistakes camping, but it always makes it interesting lol
The large mesh opening was likely what let the moisture out. And cold in
It definitely isn't going to keep the rain out! Lol
Well done video, appreciate the gear info….. cheers from Belleville Ont
Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
Keep grinding.👍
Always!
I payed way less for mine. I hope you didn’t order directly from tops. They are about 30% higher than those sold through the retailers. Esee is the same way. It’s a weird thing but they want you buying through the retailers so they way overcharge you if you buy direct. Amazon is almost always the cheapest.
I’m pretty happy with mine with one exception. The Shango notch is a joke. I sharpened to whole spine and that took care of that issue. And you’re right the tip also works ok. By grinding the whole spine I can use it to strip cedar bark.
Ya I actually ordered from Amazon. The price has since dropped to 170.00 CAD, so maybe the purchase during covid was an unwise decision. Either way, live and learn I suppose lol I may still modify mine when I have the time to turn it into a true scandi grind, but I feel like the blade thickness is just too much for me. To each their own! Thanks for watching and commenting!
This makes me miss summer!
Ya me too!
Unfortunate, but we all learned a valuable lesson ;-)
Lol, worth it!
video's way too bright
Weird, it looked fine on my end. Thanks for your input! Maybe I can edit it down a bit
Hi, thank you for the review, when did you buy the stove? I'm asking because the Dweller 3 is currently selling for USD535 and the Dweller 2 for USD499 (the price includes shipping with DHL) I've watch other reviews and apparently the problem with the damper has been fixed on the newest version (3.0). Thanks for sharing your experience, all the best from Chile.
No problems! The stove was purchased in August 2023. I definitely have the original dweller version. I have seen the 2.0 selling from amazon.ca for 610.00 CAD. Thank you very much for watching!
@@tentingWT oh I see it was CAD600 I thought you bought it for USD600. I'm thinking about buying the Dweller 2.0 or 3.0 I've been logging in Pomoly's website daily and I have so far uss60 on discount by doing that Xd plus some discount codes they gave me. I live in Chile, so it's summer time for us right now. I'll be buying the stove by the end of April I think.
@@sydgerald I do really like the stove. I can live with the issues it has, but if the 3.0 fixes it then I would 100 percent go for it!
@@tentingWT I totally agree with you. What I like about 2.0 and 3.0 is that they moved the pipe to the side, so you get more cooking space. As far as the door handle and damper, some reviewers say it had improved. Apparently with the titanium version it doesn't happen, but they're too expensive for me. Having said that, I really like the design of the Dweller, I do car camping and I have a Pomoly dome tent, so I don't mind the bulk, but for sure the Dweller looks good.
I've been asking for months. There has to be reason why tents don't have floors anymore. Could somebody tell me why. I don't understand why nobody will answer me
There are a few reasons to this madness! The main and most overlooked when it comes to hot tents not having floors is durability. Most people when hot tenting are usually pitching on snow/ice and frozen ground. Ice and solid ground are VERY unforgiving on any type of material, especially on a floor that has high traffic. Constant walking, cot placement, camping equipment, ETC will quickly deteriorate the fabric of a floor. There would be holes in no time flat. When using stoves, coals will inevitably fall out and also burn through your floor. Even if you are using a "fireproof" mat under your stove, the heat from the coals can still transfer through the mat and melt the fabric. They are fireproof yes, but not heat proof! Water, mud and wood debris would also be a gigantic pain in the butt to clean out of your tent after every trip. Wood is very messy! That being said there are still a few hot tents out there such as the nature hike dome that offer an optional floor that you can zip in. These are getting increasingly rare though, as most manufacturers don't even bother anymore. If you are hot tenting in the winter as most do, a floor is redundant in most areas. There are no bugs in winter, so a perfectly sealed tent is not necessary. Hope this helps answer some why's for you!
I forgot to mention that floors can also freeze to the ground quite badly when it's cold out and you have it very warm inside.
Mine costs $105 (3 yrs. ago) incl. shipping. I love the knife. Sorry you didn't have a better experience with yours.
Canadian or American? As I use it more, it's slowly growing on me. It's just taking me a long time to get used to the weight in comparison to my other knives.
Great Video! I have a similar tent, the Pomoloy Circle 6 which has a fiberglass hoop at the top which keeps the roof pulled out and prevents the sagging issue you're having.
Hey thanks so much for watching! Ya there is definitely a few design issues with the OneTigris. I have heard such good things about Pomoly tents. I think I'll pick one up for next season to test out.
I appreciate the honest unsponsored gear reviews. keep up the good work!
Thank you very much!
Would the stove Jack be okay for a 5” stove pipe
The hole in the provided jack is 3.3" You can cut them wider, but I think 5" would be pushing it for safety reasons. Unless it is a double insulated chimney pipe? If that's the case you could most likely take the jack completely off and just put the pipe through the hole.
The cot looks like a copie of the helonix cot
It probably is! Although I don't think I could bring myself to spend $600.00 on a cot. Especially when the OneTigris is only 1kg heavier or so then the Helinox.
Itsa boot camping
Great video. I’ve been looking at this year of cx5 and this is the exact kind of camping I’d be doing with it. Appreciate it
Hey thanks for watching! I absolutely love this car. Super reliable and has needed very little in repairs through the 7 years I've owned it, and I have beat the snot out of it haha. I can't recommend Mazda enough.
Just a small suggestion: carrying a hatchet or small ax and you could split those round pieces of wood and they might burn a tad better. Good video.
Hey, thanks for your input! I always carry my hultafors Aby Forest axe, but I was being exceptionally lazy that weekend haha. You are right, split wood burns a lot cleaner and hotter but I sometimes use rounds to get a longer burn if it's not too cold out. Thanks for watching!
Good Stuff! I bought the coyote brown version of this tent along with the inner mesh. I absolutely love it!
It is a fantastic tent. I can't recommend it enough!
My wife is thinking of getting this tent, you mentioned that you were going to list the cons of the tent, but maybe i missed them but can not seem to find the cons. What cons do you find with this tent? Overall very good video of your gear and tent. Thanks.
You are one hundred percent right, in editing I somehow deleted that section of video. The biggest cons in my opinion is the weight and location of the stove and doors. The weight isn't that big of a deal considering it's canvas. Still, 25lbs is a lot of weight to be dragging around if you are going long distance. The layout of the doors and stove can make entering and exiting the tent a big problem with two cots. You are crawling over one cot if you use the back door. Using the door on the stove side causes you to do a very awkward shuffle past the dangerously hot stove pipe. Myself and my father have both burned ourselves (upper arm) from entering this way. If the stove was just another foot over, it would eliminate this problem. Other than that, it is an amazingly well built and snug tent. Still my favorite! The price has even came down quite a bit since I made this video.
I have the solostove lite, titan and campfire. Everyone of them have it's advantage and limitations. I use the campfire in winter time, because it produce more heat than the 2 others and that you can put a kind of large piece of wood into it. And by doing so it will birn for a good while. And i like the fact that it is still lite enough to be moved with my bike. This is a nice fire pit. But you have to remember that it does't radiate the heat very much because very most of the heat is projected on top.
They are all really great stoves! And yes you are right, it doesn't quite radiate enough heat for very cold weather. I'm going to use it this winter a few times but it will mainly be a spring to fall fire pit for me. Thank you for watching!
It is still useful in the winter time. Maybe if there was a way to disperse the heat like they do for their larger stoves it would create more heat for the people around. Keep going with the good videos.@@tentingWT
Bears dnt hibernate all winter they wake up and go eat now they do sleep long periods but they dnt sleep all winter like schools tell u u should never think it safe from bears in winter
You are 100 percent correct. Although there is seldom a chance they will venture from their dens when the weather is very cold. Unless it is unseasonably warm such as this winter in Ontario. I have yet to see or encounter a bear on any of my winter trips.
Audio was also fine for me. What grey cooler were you sitting on?
Thanks for the feedback! That's the chilly moose harbour bucket. Great cooler! Keeps ice for about three days in the summer.
Audio was fine. Tent seems solid, i need to find the video of the stove because i want that one after you pointed out the full window.
Hey thanks for watching and for your feed back! Under my channel you'll find "First look at Pomoly dweller stove" It has its issues but it is SO nice with the glass!
Just stumbled on your channel, like the content and how well you produce it 👍. Cheers 🍻🇨🇦
I use a POMOLY stove hut hot tent and find that those fans are a great idea to move the heat around the living area.
Thank you very much! It's been a slow learning curve, but hopefully my videos keep improving. Yes those fans are fantastic, they make a big difference in comfort. I usually place a small battery fan on the ridge as well to force the heat back down. Cheap and effective.
I have a campfire. I use it mostly in winter because of the heat it can produce. It is transportable while biking or walking, but for this purpose in prefer tu use the lighter titan.
I'd like to get my hands on the Titan later next season. I agree, the campfire is very bulky. But it is fairly light for what it is.
The campfire is not that bulky. I still can carry it on my bike with plenty of oher stuff. But yes the titan is a good size. It is not that heavy and bulky and you can use it with larger wood pieces than with the lite. The lite is light weight ad small, but you have to feed it almost constantly. You can guees i have these 3 sroves and i love them all. I use the campfire in winter time because it produce more heat and make a nice fire camp on a table.@@tentingWT
Best review I have found very much in detail thanks for all the angle and actions
Thank you so much my friend, I appreciate it 🙏
Wife just picked me up this axe as an anniversary gift. Couldn't be happier with it.
That's a wicked gift! It's such a fantastic axe.
Nice review. It’s on sale for $187 at Kent of Inglewood. I just order one today. Was on the fence about this one or the gränsfors bruk scandinavian forest axe. I bought the aby for myself and the gransfors for my dad.
Hey thanks for watching. You won't be disappointed. Let me know how your father likes the bruk. You can never have too many axes! lol.
Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Japanese, but I'm also thinking of buying Aby. Is Aby still good?
Still fantastic. Haven't had to sharpen it yet!
@@tentingWT ありがとございます。
You’re right, it sure chews through wood/fuel quickly. That being said, it is a lot of fun to use. Works well with small frying pans, ie Pathfinder 8”. I’ve had one for 4 years and really enjoy it. Cools down fairly quickly once you stop feeding it and is really easy to clean out. A bit bulky for backpacking but works well for day trips, car camping or playing around at home.
It is a great little unit. It's one of my favorite things to tote around now
Awesome! I have same stove. Now ordering this tent!
Sweet! You won't be disappointed! Even though I will be testing out other hot tents this season, the Onetigris will always be my favorite.
Good channel geezer just subbed 💪
Thanks! Appreciate it!
I mean, I’m not one to say “I told you so”….buuuuuuuuuut…..😂
Riiiiiight. Because you don't like being correct all the time! 😆
You said it, not me! 🤪
I love your videos, but the volume is quite low. I have to almost max the volume on my computer to hear you clearly, then when I watch other UA-cam videos, they are deafening. Other than that, keep going, your videos are amazing, I can't wait to see more!
Hey thank you so much! I also notice this, I have a wireless mic on the way to hopefully help with the sound issues. Although I have a feeling I may have to just commit and buy a better camera to fix this issue. I feel like a lapel mic will just pick up my voice too much, and kill all background noise. I'm still learning and figuring things out. Thank you for your input, and patience!
@@tentingWT You could try to increase the volume through software. Not sure how much you could gain without adding a kind of hissing white noise but it could be worth a try.
That's a great tent! I usually hammock, but when I need to go to the ground, that's the one for me! I keep mine outside my pack - it fits great in a Dyneema stuff sack - specifically, Zpacks sells a stuff sac for the Helinox 1. I tried the size for the zero and it was too small. I then wrap it in a CCF asspad. And love Osprey packs! I have the Atmos AG 65. A beast of a pack, but super comfortable!
Im liking it so far! It handled the night well, and there was no condensation. I've always wanted one. It was honestly between the Dursten and the Nemo Hornet. I am currently looking at dyneema storage bags on Etsy, haha. Even just to keep my gear tidy in the Osprey. I really need to upgrade to the 65. 50L is just not enough space for hikes over 5 nights in length. There is too much food to tote around! Gotta love Osprey lifetime warranty!
@@tentingWT And that stove!!! Good for those remote campsites! I guess I know my next purchase! Too funny with the sixer you pulled out of the bag! I thought you were just going to keep pulling out cans!
@sundaymorninghikes6275 Hahahahaha, you gotta enjoy your weekends right!? That stove is one of my favorite purchases of all time to be honest. I love it. Burns smokeless once it gets going, even wet wood. You won't regret it!
Not sure about Canadian practices but in the NW US problem Bears/Animals are for the most part trapped and relocated to remote areas. The only time I’ve seen them killed is when there is media pressure. I suppose if I was raised In Canada my mindset might be different. With the many encounters with Strange People, Bears, Moose, Mountain Lions and a few Wolf packs over 50 years. Granted I hunt but even just fishing or exploring you will not catch me without at least a side arm. I’ve often wondered how many of my Northern Neighbours become Griz Bait needlessly.
My biggest problem over the years has been Moose and occasional bear. The last 20 years it’s ramped up to be People I’ve has the biggest problems with...
Yea, people scare the crap outta me more than animals do. Regardless of what it is, be it bear or wolf. Cougars are so so rare here, I've never seen one out in the wild but they are around. No grizz though thankfully. Black bears I encounter are absolute cowards. I rarely camp in heavy traffic areas, so when I do encounter them, they bolt. Probably never seen a human before. Of all my encounters, only one has been dangerous. Although, life is a gamble when you camp during moose rutting season lol.
