We opened in this location in March of 2023 and which I can't believe it took me so long to make a video! But better late than never and I really hope this video can be of some inspiration on your self employment journey!

Great tour 😊I watched Gabriel’s tour, the guy who makes 1.3mil a year dog grooming. His tour wasn’t a tour, just him over talking about irrelevant things and not showing us his layout etc so it sucked. Yours was straight to the point, I know exactly what to expect, what you have, what you do, I see you’re militantly organised which I love! It’s clearly SUPER CLEAN, access is unhindered, and it’s not pretentious. I know where my pet will be pampered., ticks every box I need. Your tour was fabulous so thanks. I’d feel more comfortable bringing my pet to you than Gabriel. Much success to you!

I’m a groomer that has an at home business, how many dogs did you have before you made the jump to a store? Beside yourself how many groomers did you start off with? Opening up a store front is such a big deal🫣. Financially with grooming it seems the only way to make money is to keep it really small by yourself or to try and go pretty big! Pricing is always an issue. I’m a lot cheaper then most places but I know I need to raise my prices. If you are to cheap you get burned out and will not want to stay in business lol.
Super delayed reponse, but so many great questions! I didn't jump to a store from my home salon until I was consistently grooming enough dogs a day to cover the overheads of a shop. For me it was like 6/7 dogs a day. I made sure I could cover the overheads solo as I didnt want to have to financially rely on having staff. I agree entirely about staying small or going large!

Katie what an amazing job! I just bought clippers and thinning sheers and I am ready to try to tackle my Cavalier. Do you have video just on nail trims? It's the one thing I am terrified to do myself. I want to try but I am scared I will hurt my Cavaliers. Thank you for a great video.

If ever here wants to have a dog, get a poodle! Underrated dog ever, they're the best once you get one. You know what i mean, we have 9 poodles of all sizes
I've been bitten by a poodle before, and almost every poodle I've come across is aggressive, DO NOT BUY A POODLE
@TurtleBoyz I don't know about that, our poodles are great. Our 3 standard poodles doesn't even bark at other dogs😅
@@TurtleBoyz Its called backyard breeding. Aggressiveness is not part of the temperment. Every well bred poodle i've met have all been amazing and chill. I'll will always recommend poodles to people that are willing to put in the work. My poodle is my most behaved and easiest to train. Their amazing dogs and their so sweet and goofy. They have such amazing personalities. Don't blame the breed because you came across people that didn't train properly and didn't do their research before they got the breed. Poodles are the 5th most popular breed so backyard breeding is very popular in this breed that's why you meet mean poodles or with behavioral and health issues it's no different with the doodles but the difference all doodles are back yard bred so you dont know what your gonna get.
@@Meakamea They love blaming their hatred for poodles on the horribly bred ones they met and say its the whole breed. poodles are amazing and have such great personalities. My poodle is so chill and well behaved. I'll always recommend poodles to people 🥰
@Kenzie07081 true and also the dogs reflects their owners attitude. So if you are mean to the dogs they are also mean to the rest. Our poodles are the 👌

Just a financial question, I am saving up to start a business like this as well. 1. how many pets do you get in a week? 2. how much "on average" should I expect to make in a month? 3. how much do you spend monthly on your business? and 4. how do you advertise?
Hi Andrew, I'm sorry it took me so long to reply! Our salon is huge now and I have two employees helping me. I'm uploading a tour of the new salon soon. I love your questions so I'll make a video on them also! But if it were just me, I would be grooming 6-7 small dogs a day. Income on average really depends on how much you charge and how many dogs you groom. At the time this video was out, I was earning anywhere between $1500AUD a week, and I wish I could remember how much costs were but they were relatively low as I was working from home. I didn't do any advertising as the salon I had been working at previously closed down so I was able to bring all the clients with me to my new salon. Hope that helps!
I love the set up. Anyway we could get more info on the bathtub? Im currently trying to decide on what kind of bathtub to buy for my home based salon. The plumbing is a little tricky to figure out.
So sorry for the delayed reply! I got it from Pupkus.com.au. You're right, the plumbing is a bit of a B to figure out. That house had a crawlspace under it but my current space didnt which made it even harder

You made grooming that beautiful cavvy so easy. He was a very patient boy, like most cavs are. I have 2 of my own and i have to get them done. They always come home looking all spick and span. Pure royalty. I used to do my 2 previous cavvys myself, but now I'm getting on, i can't do it. You are an amazing groomer. You make it look easy. Great video. 😊

Our prices vary on the size of the dog, it's behaviour, and the style it's getting!
