Flambouyant Cuttlefish, Metasepia pfefferi. Pulau Mabul, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo.
Some of the video footage & pictures I took whilst living at Scuba Junkie, Pulau Mabul, Sabah, Malaysian Borneo between March & August 2014.
These Flambo's are between 2cm-5cm ...tiny.
When I wasn't teaching I'd head out onto "Awas" the SJ house reef & go searching for them. I'd watch them for 1 1/2 hours just going about their daily stuff - moving about, hunting, feeding etc - what a joy to behold.
Unfortunately, some (not these) have been taken for laboratory breeding & they are for sale at US$1,000/individual. How very sad. So even the ones available as"laboratory reared / ocean safe" are from individuals originally removed from their natural habitat.

Phuket Thailand 2014 - Ed Wallis paid for & sent his missus, Tracy, & parents in law (Mick & June) away for 2 weeks so he could get some peace & quiet.....actually he sent them over to make sure that Deb & Jon were OK after their Philippino Typhoon ordeal. The only problem was they forced Deb & Jon to consume copious amount of booze EVERY day & eat some fiery Thai curries. LOL. June, the brandy...

I had a very large one head straight at me on Rinca. It wasn't attacking me, I was just standing in front of the trail it wanted to take, but I got out of its way in a hurry. It still sends chills down my spine to think about it.
I always carry pipe bombs with me when I go to Indonesia. They're the Komodo Dragon's most effective natural predator.

A simple Canon PS100 in the regular Canon housing. No strobes just natural light & occasionally a torch plus the manual white balance.
Why 18 dislikes? This is a sweet fucking video! It's not like they smack any of the fuckin' komodos on the head or anything! (not that I would care too much about that anyways)
