I stack my ibc totes the other way and cut my wood 17” that nets me 1 face cord in the smaller totes if you do the math with 17” logs not 16 but that kinda splitting hairs I guess.
Magnificent
You are a patient person. I did it myself also. The totes contains one face cord with 8 to 10 inches on top. The larget tots ( I prefer ) contain exactly one face cord even to the top rail. I know because I did it and I feel good when I deliver and tell the customer exactly what he’s getting for his money. No guessing !
Hi, do you know the part number of the screwdriver with the disk? or how to order it?
Great video. I like your style and, man, you are a hard worker!
Its crazy u get more wood just throwed in
I have the big 330 totes. Nice to know a face cord is what it can store when stacked. Thanks for putting forth the effort. Loved the comical conversations with your customer on the front end. Thanks again and take care.
Perhaps you can help me Identify what I have? I recently started restoring my grandfather's tractors and I know little to nothing about them, but I am extremely confused on what this super A actually is. It says Farmall Super A, it has the heavy axel with support as well as the foot throttle, It does not have a serial number or placard or even a spot where it would go, it's on the bell housing? I think is what it is called, its 357xxx so can confirm it was a 1954. This leads me to believe this may be the tractor you referred to as the Super AI1. The only thing I have found online that would separated it from a normal A1 would be the heavy front axle and the foot throttle, I am assuming since it has these, if it also has all of the A1 indicators including the c123 engine then this is an ultra rare tractor and I probably should not convert it to 12V?
Thanks for all the information. I need to do same thing in my trailer. People say 40 percent more loss then thrown. I think 40 from this video little to much.
CLOSER VIEW WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL
thanks for working for us. well done.
Very useful video, thanks for taking the time sir.
I have the manual for the A60 Leveling & Grading blade. The part you showed that was cut off is part of the mounting bracket. The manual doesn't reference what the additional lenght is for. The two pieces you fabricated are the pivot axle mounting bracket and pivot axle hanger. Nice job on the fabrication.
Can't wait to see it put together! I've got one that came with my Super A, but I've never seen one complete and mounted to know whether I've got all the pieces, and where everything goes...
460 and 660 look like you are super aggressive on the rakers. Slowing the cuts. The chips are way larger than the other saws.
Yelp we use the fow hippers all da time down here in da bayou country
Holy crap found my cultivators that darn Joey he gave them away They some fine folks at jtwes you’re going to love them cultivators
the piant fades over time and turns another color that looks like orange massey harris were massey harris red and the wheels were straw yellow the ponys were repainted gray 4 ferguson dealers and they were only gray 4 /1954 1955 and the 8-24 rear tires are are the right 👉 😊 size tires that are what should be on the tractor 🚜 😊 and the blue decals I have seen them on tractors be 4 U will most likely have a decal shop 2 make them I haven't seen a part no. 4 them or a decal set 😊😊 OMG 2 5 2O24
I get a ton of heat for selling by the cord (or based on a cord like 1/3 or 1/2) I even had an angry comment from a guy saying he's glad our state doesn't require any standardized measurements lol I was just pointing out that a "load" really doesn't mean anything. So I asked him if he ordered a gallon of gas and it came in a gallon jug 3/4 full if he'd be happy. He said "that's different" lol If you say so buddy! Great video, very useful. If you get board, check out "mountain state firewood" I've done a bunch of posts about this exact topic and I think I'll share this video if you don't mind?
so its1.2 face cord for an 8 foot pick up box, neatly stacked or heaped. that pick up box is about 2 1/2 yards by volume. so that means stacked neatly, you get about 1/2 a face cord per yard. so by extension, a proper 3 axle dump truck, not a tandem dump truck, which holds maybe 15-16 yards, would carry 7.5 - 8 face cords. That would be stacked neatly to the top of the side rail, or heaped higher than the side rail. Heaped firewood, would give you less than 1/2 a face cord per yard, somewhere around 3/8 of a face cord per yard, not neatly stacked. to summarize, 1/2 a face cord per yard, neatly stacked. or 3/8 of a face cord loose, per yard. thanks for making the video.
What did you use for the frame section? I see holes and the sticker makes it look like a section of frame.
I just reinforced the existing frame with a piece of 3/16 bent into a channel. That channel was welded and plug welded to the last section of factory frame. The rear most section is very thin, and unfortunately, that is what everything in the gooseneck hitch and suspension had to mount to!
@@aroundtheshop9615 thank you very much for the reply! That makes sense… you just reinforced the original frame and moved the axle back. Makes sense. I plan on doing something very similar. But doing a total stretch of 44”. Planned on cutting the frame where it’s sleeved and welding in a heavier duty rectangle tuning only issue is I’m having trouble finding a piece of square tubing that size. Starting to think it’s a metric size! Which leads me to my original question. Thanks again for the reply. This helps narrow it down alittle more!
That first cut in the video 😬🤷🏽♂️
Good video
that 660 is running to rich.
What's the casting date code on the clutch housing on the Super A-1? Never seen one with the serial number tag on the clutch housing.
I’ll check next time I’m at the shop
What size are your plow chief bottoms on that 1-f11 2 way plow ? I'm finishing up a resto on mine but I have 12 '' bottoms and am searching the nation for some 16'' moldboards. I will die of old age before I find that left hand moldboard lol.
Just came across this video. Don’t know exactly wherebout you’re located,…but if you can find a company that delivers different types of automotive fluids,…you’ll discover a gold mine. They’ll either give you those totes, or sell them really cheap just to maintain room in their yard. I’ve picked up two 275 gal tote loads of 26 for $15 a piece this week and last week. I’m hoping you got a good deal on these. The low priced totes are out there. Just have to know where to look. Btw, I like the Farmalls on your channel,…but I subscribed for the wood😂.
Thats a nice collection of A"s
They are a lot of fun….they all need a pile of work though!!
yes cool mower. I purchased a international #23 mower with 7 ft sickle over 20 years ago. Didn't know what I had ($175.) from a Wisconsin farm auction. I finally got a clue from a advertised e-bay book showing a 23 mower on an industrial 300 . So I spent another 20x2 or $40 dollars on manuals to see if that was what I have . I think I have a side mounted #23 international with mounting for a super A, super Ai,100 130,or 140. but not ruling out that could be for a 240, 300 350 or 460 utility tractor's. the book says only the super A, super Ai,100 130,or 140 international #23 mower uses a belt the other for 240, 300 350 or 460 utility tractor's, use a chain drive from pto to bottom pulley. So then mine must be super A, super Ai,100 130,or 140 international #23 mower and mounting But I do know it needs the two different fixed arms from the hydraulic like a super c uses , same a you did in the picture, 1 arm lifts the sickle up the other lifts the cast part up . unfortunately mine from the farm auction didn't come with the p.t.o. pulley. I t's nice to see the early version didn't use the big nut and a slip clutch. Then maybe I could just use a or find a plain pulley. what size pulley are they supposed to be . I know it has a guard so that's something to go off of.
Just Subscribed. We have 2 A farmalls. one a super A has a 200 engine and a 59 inch woods belly mower. The other is Not a superA . I think it is WII it has a cast iron shift knob. no hyd or water pump. We have videos of them on our channel.
Outstanding! They are a pile of fun!!
If it fits the nut on the tool bar it bes an inch and a quarter.
Great video! My Super A Industrial has 16" front wheels. I am missing the foot throttle linkage from the bell crank forward on mine.
This one did too, as well as the International 140 industrial (in another video on this channel)
Super nice demeanor. I wish I was a nice sounding as you are. Like your channel. Good job.
I was recently handed down an IH Super A Highway Mower. It does not have the “I” designation but is badged as International and not Farmall. My grandfather-in-law or his father bought it in ‘48 and the Serial # checks out. I have the original manual that came with it. Super cool!
I picked up this mode mower yesterday and it looks like everything is there, but there is no clear picture on how the mower mounts in the area of the front axle. What does it bolt to? Would you be able to provide me with a picture of yours? I can post me email if you need it. Thanks a bunch!
Appears you like Stihl
great stuff. how does the cub22 do on a slope/ side of a ravine?
As long as the bar is flat, all is ok…it doesn’t like going up or down from flat! The highway mower does great at angles though!
Send me a link to the Farmall super a1i I want to see it
I’ll try to figure out how to do that!!!
Where does a guy get one of those fertilizer hopper’s? My old fiberglass unit is toast.
I was trying to mount the fertilizer distributor and IH Duplex seed hopper mount on the new to me Super AI today. I noticed that there is a "boss" with threaded holes for the fertilizer distributor. Where the seed hopper mount should bolt to the tractor there is no "boss" with threaded hole. There are 2 holes about 3/4" in diameter all the way through the tractor frame. On the Super AV of my FIL's it has a "boss" in that location of the frame with threads to accept the same tapered head bolts that the fertilizer distributor uses. Also the Super AV has the industrial "diamond" front end.
They could have been damaged of drilled out….farmers can be pretty tough on stuff!
Thanks for sharing. I planted a spring garden with my 92 yr old FIL's Super AV. I rigged up an old Cole Duplex Planter behind it and planted corn and beans. I got the bug and bought a Super A and a couple of weeks later a 100 parts tractor. Just finished converting the Super A to 12v. Setting up the fertilizer distributor an IH Duplex seed hopper to go with an A180 belly planter that I picked up. It's a jigsaw puzzle getting it all figured out! LOL
So you didn’t cut the frame? Just moved the axle back 20” & 4link it?
Correct!
Loudest interview ever
I love that you spend some of your time helping the boys that need good mentors, I've been thinking of trying something like this in my church, might have to get some ideas from you, don't have one of these tractors YET but am looking, Love your find
the mower looks pretty close to what we have on our A..
Great video, most common occurrence for me is just as you said, that little sparkplug spring attachment clip that is simply bayoneted into the high voltage wire. There has got to be a better design for that clip.
Somethings no belt pully, has pto, some had foot accelerators by right fender
Is there a video of the finished bed. That thing look slick!
Hopefully soon…still need to make the lids!
Great video. Your information has helped me confirm that I have a Super A1. All the things you listed are a match on the one I have. Unfortunately, I can’t read the serial # as the tag under the seat is in bad shape. I’ve owned the tractor since the mid 90’s and never even knew there was such a thing as a A1 until the water pump started leaking. That’s when I read online about it was probably a A1 if it has a water pump. I live in eastern NC and I grew up on Super A’s putting in tobacco. Tractor runs great and still use it in the garden. Once again, thank you for the great information in the video.
