How The Internet Revived The Avatar Series
The Avatar series has become an internet classic that’s pretty much universally loved but that wasn’t always the case. The series has gone through MAJOR ups and downs through the years and to understand this journey like any other, we must start at the beginning.

Vinland Saga S2 Is COMPLETELY Different
The commentary is definitely wrong about the heroes never being wrong. The whole point of endeavour is to illustrate that heroes have issues , and the whole story about rifle was also to show the problems with hero society.Stain challenging hero society also addressed this point.
I’ll be honest, I made this video so long ago that I don’t really remember what I said 😭. I think when I was talking about heroes I was referring to our main characters, not the hero society as whole. As you said , Stain challenging hero society addresses that point so I don’t think that’s what I meant. I could be misremembering tho and if I really did mean what you said , you are completely right 👌🏾.
Why do so many people hate legends of Korra (I’m not counting season2) it’s supposed to be a completely different show and you guys keep comparing it to avatar the writer said that it’s completely different and It shouldn’t be compared to avatar. (Btw every villain, in legends of Korra is better than Ozai you could actually agree with what the villains are saying we don’t talk about season 2)
It’s a sequel series, it’s only natural to compare it to its predecessor. Especially when the original (ATLA) is such a great show.
@@BadTakeRisan it makes sense why you would, but isn’t supposed too it’s supposed to be its own standalone show set in the universe
There are many plot points and characters directly connected to the original. Tenzin, Toph, Zuko, the concept of Avatars and the significance of the airbenders returning are all heavily connected to ATLA. Calling it stand alone is a bit far fetched, it’s definitely a sequel series. Comparing the two is completely fine.
@@BadTakeRisan of course it’s the same universe so that stuff can happen, but it’s a different show
You forgot to mention how they got there @sses handed to them more then 3 times
is a good anime and manga but when the eaeth invasion by the obungas happens the series starts to be boring and you want to end now
My favourite is Believe!
@@CornFRFR Damn! Most people have been commenting fairly recent OPs and you pull up the 2nd ever opening lmao. What a throwback 🤣
@@BadTakeRisan in russian dub it's literally the most beautiful thing i ever heard
@CornFRFR lmaoo I gotta check it out
story is still trash
When this video first released , a lot of people disagreed with me. But as time passed, ppl have started to dislike the story more and more. Shits crazy 🤣
I may be the first one to say this but marvels Spider-Man 2 has really died out since release man. Feels like this game went 2 steps back compared to the first game. Swinging/ combat wise they taken stuffs out which angered me and also they didn’t go beyond in that aspect. The game has been out for 7 MONTHS….. and still no dlc and ppl wonder why the game is dying. I got bored of this game cuz it didn’t have that replay value like it did the first gam. Also another reason why this game is dead is cuz the symbiote plays the exact same way as the other regular suits (apart from surge) but outside of that it’s the same combat/ dodge/ swing animations and the finishers… you can’t even morph into the symbiote in the game🤦🏾♂️ it don’t feel different when wearing it cuz it doesn’t play different. Insomniac really let me down
I don’t think your the first one to say this but I agree regardless. Spiderman 2 was an underwhelming sequels and very derivative. A lot of features felt the same like you said about the symbiote suit.
i wanna know who the writer was for the netflix adaptation. It was SOOOO bad. Like nr 1 rule and the only rule I know about is "Show, Don't tell"... which was the opposite of every scene in the adaptation. unreal. The first scene where the earthebender stole the fire nation's plans and there was a chase scene, we as the audience literally see him using earthbending to punch the guard who stumbles down and yells "he is an earthbender"... yea we can fucking see that. also two scenes of aang just rambling about him wanting to be a kid and just enjoy childhood... yeah that's literally tHE point, why u even ran away in the first place, and kept ignoring the task aang, u don't have to tell us that in TWO DIFFERENT SCENES. Just something I wanted to get off my chest. You literally have a perfect show as a blueprint. Even If they just copied word for word the original avatar, it still would have been 10x more enjoyable.
Yeah I completely agree. It makes complete sense that the original creators of Avatar left the Netflix adaptation after seeing how they wanted to do it. Similar vibes to The Witcher, changing shit for the sake of change and ignoring the previous , superior work it’s based on. I’m honestly suprised the One Piece live action turned out so well since Netflix don’t have a great track record with adaptations.
Show don't tell isn't a rule. It's a guideline. It's a misconception that it's a rule which leads people to consider it bad simply because they did it. It's not inherently bad. It's just a crutch that can make it really bad if you don't know how to use it well. You clearly HAVE to tell sometimes.
Korea and the movie almost tanked the whole franchise lmao. Thank god it didn’t 😂
I’m assuming you meant Korra 🤣
@@BadTakeRisan yeah lol , auto correctisms
Just the movie
@@carlosalbertoalcazarandrad5348 Did you watch the vid dummy?? Korras views were shit and everyone hated it. Just because you like something doesn’t make it good 💀
I'll just say it - people may obviously like or dislike whatever they want, but The Legend of Korra wasn't a failure It was a great show and they managed to show other things than they showed with Aang Even the villains were sometimes better than in Aang's show - as the fire nation were basically just taught to be evil and try to rule the world, the villains of Korra had some kind of interesting ideology which they took too far A villain as good as Zaheer is not something you come up with so often
It was a failure commercially when it aired in terms of viewership. I agree with the points you made about some of the villains. Zaheer was great. However, S2 and S4 were pretty mediocre and calling the entire show great is a bit of a stretch. It had some high highs but more frequently dipped to low lows.
@@BadTakeRisan Well maybe it's just my taste and I got a little overprotective there 😂 We can all agree on season 2 being weak, that's for sure
Lmaoo that’s fair tbh. I think the show is overhated so I get wanting to defend it 🤣. Yeah s2 was pretty mid but s3 has some of the best moments in all of Avatar‼️
@@BadTakeRisan that was Nickelodeon’s fault not korra because those ratings were good
I was talking about why it was considered a failure initially. Fault doesn’t matter.
Would have been better if Naruro's parents were friends of the Fourth and if he inherited the "will" of Ashura/Hagoromo instead of being a reincarnation of him. Fits more with the theme of Naruto working hard to match Sasuke and Sasuke being born special.
The show had a massive fall off ngl, I don’t hear nobody talking about how good the show is. Super underrated
Which show are you talking about ?
They’re right, ATLA doesn’t get the praise it deserves. Greatest show of all time!
Lmaoooo Yall are fucking trippin. Avatar is one of most popular and beloved shows of all time. Mfs be calling anything underrated LOL

The Legend of Korra will never surpass Avatar
I don’t think anyone thinks LoK is better bro 🤣
@@BadTakeRisan I mean, the Kuvira arc will never surpass the last avatar arc
there are a few who think that
I abandoned the legend of Korra a long time ago, I don't like the main character, his antagonists and his secondary characters, I don't like everything, where Aang surpasses Korra is his personality and the way he masters elements ,Korra being more advanced than Aang could have been interesting but instead, she gets screwed easily, I don't like her personality and I don't like the series.
That’s fair, it’s definitely no where near as good as the original and has some unlikeable characters. I think there are some good moments in it tho like the beginnings episodes and Zaheer. But I agree , it’s mostly mediocre.
@@BadTakeRisan you're tripping korra is just as good as the original series.
Each avatar has his unique personality her antagonists and secondary characters are pretty good just like the series.
Nah I gotta disagree. The writing is worse. Even the creators admit they had trouble writing Korra since they only wrote 1 season at a time. That’s why Korra had 4 villains. The writing and quality of the story is naturally gonna suffer under those circumstances.
For me, I started to lose interest in my hero around the overhaul arc. My biggest problem that I had with it is that there are so many characters and yet for some reason, the show relies on Deku so heavily. It does it so heavily in my eyes it almost feels like they’re trying to cover up side characters accomplishments. Which just leads me to ask what’s the point of adding all these characters if Deku feels like he carries 90% of the show? To top it off, I also hate how much overwhelming praise Deku gets. It feels like everyone including the villains just wants to hop on Deku’s dick and I grew to hate it. It was like watching one giant harem anime where Deku could do no wrong and everything he does is by definition perfect.
Yeah that’s fair. I also don’t like the whole chosen one thing they started with Deku. Kinda ruined the best aspect of the show which was Deku using his intellect to get out of situations. Now he’s OP and like you said, he’s seen as perfect. Shit, even his vigilante arc was painted in a way to make him look good. 🤣
Honestly I like the anime, for some reason these are the type of animes I like plus these terra cockroaches are creepy as hell
Yeah it was definitely a fun show. When I called it weird I didn’t mean it in a bad way
Might've been the weirdest thing ever but it kept my family and I entertained
Definitely entertaining!
Bro why obunga is gigachad
🤣
I binged watched the show right around when S4 ended, and caught up to when S5 began. I kinda enjoyed it but didn’t realize they were still in their FIRST year as High schoolers. Honestly, if you take the ending of S1, skip to the beginning of S6, I doubt you’ll notice a difference besides All Might Retiring, Deku unlocking new quirks, and Shiggy having a voice change, because other than that, it feels like nothing “really” happened between so many seasons of “fluff” or slow progress of the story. Did any of these characters that we follow, especially the students, teacher and heroes change drastically over the course of 6-7 seasons? The villains definitely are my favorite part because they feel like they undergo meaningful development
Well said. Are you watching the new season? Is it any better or just more of the same?
@@BadTakeRisan I will be watching S7 and probably subsequently the final season whenever that’s released. I try to finish the shows I watch as an anime only. But honestly the more I think about MHA, the more I feel like it peaked at Season 3 after OFA v AFO. not to say I didn’t like certain arcs of S4 5 or 6, but when you look at the broad scope, and like I mentioned in my previous comment, you can probably get away just watching S1 and going straight to S6 and not skip a beat.
@koalabearkhan145 Yea MHA definitely peaked at S3. All Might vs AFO and Bakugo vs Deku felt like the culmination of a lot of story arcs. Those two arcs were always more interesting than Deku vs Shigaraki. I’ve watched 6 seasons tho so I’ll probably watch s7 at some point. Who knows? Maybe I’ll end up making a follow up video about how good MHA is.
I Don’t Think Howard Committed Suicide Loll😂😭
Really? You think he just died of natural causes 5 mins after talking about how he has nothing to live for ? Come on bro 😭
@@BadTakeRisan Yea, I Don’t Think He Killed Himself I Highly Doubt It. At Least That’s Not What I Got From It.
Ngl seeing the book comparisons in your reviews made me realise that the show is kinda mid lol. Seems like a dumbed down version of the book tbh. Lowkey ruined the show for me 💀. I gotta read the book now tho, it sounds so much better lol.
Lmaoo damn my bad. I don’t think the shows bad tbh. It’s like a 7. It’s just that the book is pretty much a 10 so it’s gonna look bad in comparison. Definitely read the book if you’re interested tho. Pretty much most of blackthorne a story is cut out of the show and the story with Rodrigues and the Portuguese is also gone. There’s so much I didn’t cover in these vids that make the book worth reading even if you know the ending!
You gotta do a vid on the new season !!!
I haven’t started it yet cause I was waiting on the dub. Is it still good?
It’s so insane that the show is held in such high regard considering how much better the book is. I’d give the show like a 6 or 7 but the source material is so good that people think the show is good lol.
Yeah it’s surprising tbh. I’d probably give the show a 7 since I think a 6 is a lil harsh. Seeing people compare it to early game of thrones is WILD 😭
😭
FINALLY I know. My bad 😭
You should’ve posted this earlier! Would’ve got way more views lol. These are definitely the best Shogun review videos. The book quote sections are a cool addition that I haven’t seen others do

Americans don't realize, Shogun is their history in a way.. Think about it if Japan modernize then, Meji Restoration would not have happen, that led to Pearl Habor.. In alternative history, Japan might have been colonized by the Portugal at this time of what 1600's.. If so, eventually, they would have modernized and all of Asian history in WW 2, might have been different.. An early modernization of Japan, would have led to modernations of China, for sure.. Instead of China catching up to the world in 2000's, they would have already been 400 years earlier.. Whole world history may have changed.. Imagine a Japan knowing of the Europe news, and then the news of American civil war.. These War like people, would keep up with repeating guns, machine guns, biological weapons, airplanes, carriers n etc.. They would just keep pace with West or surpass it.. But now that Japan is modernized and their Abe leader died, who knows what is Japan future now ? Will it go back to Shogun ? If America financially collapses, it is likely..
I doubt they’d go back to their ways in Shogun lol. Japan has a severe declining birth rate problem. If anything , they’d probably look to have more lenient immigration laws to supplement their dwindling work force. Also , Shinzo Abe wasn’t killed when he was their president. He died in 2022, 2 years after his term as president ended.
@@BadTakeRisan Abe moved his people to vote in majority his party.. His death has lead to re-arming of Japan as never before since WW 2.. Tha is what he wanted.. Saying Japan is becoming more bold and aggressive.. USA finanical collapse is inevitable.. Japan is tied to USA by hold T-bonds.. When it hits the fan,, USA will bring down Japan with them.. US $1 could be worth a penny in coming years.. A huge collapse is inevitable, now.. I just hope it is not as bad as Venezuela collapse..

Murdering gets on WAY before season 5. People think it’s a kids show even with all this blood going everywhere when someone’s gets murked (aka magne) even in the movies David had blood on like half of the inside of the helicopter when he got captured like holy shit
Magne died in season 4. Also he’s a villain. None of the main or side characters in the good side are ever in danger and by the late seasons it’s frustrating
@@BadTakeRisan I guess that’s true

2:02 2:47 he would be multilingual. You forgot English.
@Neddoest I mean I did say he was an English pilot. I didn’t think it was necessary to mention that an English pilot speaks English lol
Can someone explain to me what Ishido gains from kidnapping Mariko? Doesn't that just make him look like the jailer that he is?
He’s not doing it first hand. He’s getting rid of her via the Shinobi that were hired by Yabu. Similar to when he killed Sugiyama and blamed it on “Bandits”. As long as he has plausible deniability (to prevent an uprising) , he’ll do anything to further his cause.
Mariko was the MVP of this ep no cap
Fr‼️
I was expecting Mariko to be badass with the fight scene 😭 but I think she purposefully was terrible to put up an act and make it seem hopeless to justify her Sepuku.
I don’t think she did terrible . She hurt a couple samurai. It was like 9v1, I think she did well given the circumstances.
@@BadTakeRisan she was flailing the naginata rather than making intentional and precise movements so that’s what gave me that impression. Haha
Lmaoo fair enough but she’s not meant to be a super capable warrior. Just in basic self defense and sparring. Plus, she knew what she’d have to do afterwards. Her and Toranaga knew Ishido wouldn’t let her leave so threatening (and possibly going through with) seppuku was inevitable. I think anyone would be a little imprecise fighting 9 samurai knowing you might have to kill yourself later 😭
Thank you so much for the breakdown, it was super great. I just have a point I disagree on, I think it was fine and even necessary to skip the scene where Mariko cries for the fallen men in the Cha house. It's like in a book it is perfect because when you read a book you imagine every scene and movement and there is not really such a thing as "overemphasizing" what should be obvious coz the readers imagination hinges on being told what the character feels. In a movie or series you can run the risk of overshowing and ruining the momentum. We see Mariko's expression as we're watching closely, it's neither the cold look she gives Buntaro or the 8 fold fence look of silent enduring, then we see hear her guards refer to her as "Sama" and speak with utmost loyalty and how she knows their names when she tells the second to take over when the first falls, finally when the low ranked (guard?) bows in all respect she bows back and she does it with a levity and respect that is obvious on her face. All it takes is knowing a person's name by their face and having a relationship where they respect you to feel their loss so we are expecting she does just from that little exchange. What also makes it obvious to us is that we have see Mariko breakdown over Fuji's son before to know she feel's loss even if she has sought death for more than a decade, and so assuming death was her plan she knowingly brought those guards with her knowing the outcome for her meaning she may have mourned them long before she gathered the courage to see this all through. So many options and directions for us to mull and it's nicer for me that way because then seeing a specific scene that should have been obvious would feel good but lazy
That's a fair point. After making this video, I rewatched the episode, and she seems hurt by all their deaths. Especially when she calls off the departure and tells everyone it's not possible to leave. At that moment you can see quite a bit of emotion on her face. Thanks for leaving such a detailed comment but bro, use some paragraph breaks next time 😭

I watched the episode today and searched for your synopsis. I got off work and saw this was up! So glad you made it. I read the book when I was 13 years old (and started Iaido and Kendo at 18 years old because of these books). I reread the book at 20 and again at 27. It’s been a few years- and was stretching my brain to remember how the book compares to the episodes. Your videos are the best on UA-cam! Thank you. 💕 I go to Japan next week again to prepare for my 4th degree test in Kendo. I am glad I got to see this episode and this synopsis before I left. :)
Thanks for the kind words! The last few breakdowns have been posted a bit late because I’ve been working some late nights recently. If you’re interested, there’s actually a William Adams ( real life Blackthorne) memorial site in Tokyo! It’s got some info on him and his life and is pretty cool. You should check it out if you get have free time out there. Good luck on your Kendo test 🙏🏽
@@BadTakeRisan I will be in the area! I will have to check it out. :)
Do you think Yabu was faking being scared at the end? We've seen him have the stomach for fighting, murder and torture (even enjoying boiling people). I doubt he'd be scared to the point of freezing especially against an "enemy" he knew wouldn't kill him. I personally believe he was playing possum so that he could justify not helping blackthorne and indirectly help the assassins.
I will never gorget the disrespect the echidna woman got like what she do to deserve that
Nah fr 😭
He has a movie, guy?
Yeah ik but he needs another one.
I’ve been watching a few “reaction” channels and while Blackthorne’s reunion scene was clearly shorter than what you described from the books, it seems to be having an impact on non-book readers all the same (reactors seem to immediately get that Blackthorne has really changed just from that short interaction with his old shipmate). Perhaps the writers simplified it primarily for non-book readers? Either way, I loved the episode though Hiromatsu’s scene really messed me up. This is my favorite Shogun recap channel by far! Keep up the amazing job! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks man, glad you’re enjoying the vids! Really? Well either way I’m happy non book readers realised the same thing. The part that fell flat for me is the depiction of Blackthorne’s leadership qualities and maturity. He’s a much more capable and intelligent man in the books. Having him fight his old crew mate kinda drags him down to that level. Also, his crew constantly questioning his character and plans undermines his capabilities as a pilot, which are meant to be brilliant.
Love love love your videos. UA-cam was playing games and I had to go back through my watch history to find your earlier reviews so I could catch up with your breakdowns. Happy I found the channel again 🔥💪🏽🔥
