VINTAGE 1962 LAWNBOY QUIETFLITE MODEL 5251
Video of my 1962 LawnBoy Quietflite model 5251 running and mowing. This was the first start in 3 months, and it needs some carb tuning and adjustment to get the correct mixture, but it still runs OK and will mow fine. Nice to get it out and put it to work where it belongs.

VINTAGE LAWNBOY 1954 MODEL 1RB30
Переглядів 33 тис.14 років тому
This is my 1954 Lawnboy with the original Briggs and Stratton 6B-H engine. It starts, runs, and cuts very well. One of the oldest Lawnboys you will ever see, especially with a 4 cycle engine.
OHSA would go crazy. The kill switch took me back. What else can the Feds screw up. I'm surprised you're not doing 35 to life just for having this. Work of art.
Beautiful lawnmower and I love the color. I would be interesting in buying one if anyone in SoCal has one for sale. I like how they enclosed the motor in a fiberglass housing. It looks much more sleek that way and I like the “quietflite” logo with the two boomerangs on the sides.
the "LO-TONE" mufflers came out in the late 1950's, that is not the original muffler, it would have had the "DOG BONE" muffler on it( p/n 89966). lawn boy( O.M.C.) was started by steve briggs, who left briggs & stratton in 1948. there is also an "A" modal that had a 2cycle lawson engine that was produced in 1953.
Did you sell it? I would like to buy it if you haven't.
Very nice
rear roller in place to keep the real market from getting cold feet! So cool!
reel market
Would u sell it?
Yes I would sell it
Can I have your phone number to talk?
@@davidsantiquetractors777 I'm not comfortable putting my phone number in a public area. Is there another way?
I could email you
Do you have Facebook it won't let me email
I hope mine runs that well . ( 2019 )
On the nomenclature, the 1st 2 numbers of the serial section denote the year.
Starts just like my 1972 Ski-Doo Tn'T Snowmobile, wrap the rope each pull lol. Sweet mower!! Just curious, Were those ancient Briggs 4 cycle decent quality? I've always been a LB 2 cycle fan, they're mostly bulletproof...light years better (as long as you're able to do occasional basic wrenching) than all the 4 cycle junk at your local Home Depot etc.
Nice👍👍👍👍
I love it!!.
Really Awesome 😎👍🏼🇺🇸
Very nice mower, I can smell it from here.
I like the blue better then the green.
Very nice Lawn-Boy.
nope i have a lawnboy also and an echo weedeater
Sounds like a Honda with a Fart can.
look at my resto 22270 last of the lawnboy with aluminium deck
Lawnboy decks were magnesium
did not know the 1954 had 4 stroke ??????????? i have a 10601 2 stroke and 22270 honda gsv
I am guessing ebay for parts
Yes, but they are very rare and expensive.
What's the purpose of the rolling pin deal?
With the discharge in the rear corner, it stabilizes the deck.
'54 was the first year because Lawn Boy purchased Iron Horse (which had a rotary engine) the previous year and basically re-branded the Iron Horse mower, ultimately popularizing and making the rotary motor push mower famous whilst becoming the first production-line manufacturer of complete power mowers.
kool video i have a 2 stroke 10601 and 2 lawnboy 22270 /22271 with honda gsv they have come along way
What are points?
getting a couple new push mowers lawn boys just got a so money out of a bunch on briggs ones i used them until there were no parts left but i m smart and kept the wheels

I have the lawn boy model 10685 good mower also
Hi would you ever consider selling your 5221?
That thing is "COOL", I love when someting old is re-born, nice work ! Beautiful pain job !
Nice Lawn Boy! If you wanted it quieter, line the inside of the shroud with .75 Accumat. A quick goole search will find it. I use it in the interior of my car and it is truly amazing. Come to think of it, I have lined my window air unit with it also.
The quietflite model sort of personifies the advertizing strategy of the time. Vacuum cleaners, cars, all sorts of appliances were frequently touted as ultra quiet...and I think the covered engine is probably just such a gimmick. An appeal to a different kind of buyer...a woman perhaps who does the lawn mowing for the family. Women don't like noisy things as a rule--we have more sensitive hearing.
I don’t think women’s ears are more sensitive than men’s. I’m a man and find the sound of most power equipment to be obnoxious, especially leaf blowers. Any intelligent person operating a mower or any such loud equipment should wear earplugs. The sound is loud enough to damage your hearing.
I love Lawn-Boy mowers and also collect them but I still don't understand the logic in these models...........air cooled engine inside of a box I would think these would run hotter than other models anyway....very nice Lawn Boy
thats a 19" right?
