    Of course, if you had photos from 1800 or 1700, if such things existed, that would have been even more of a contrast. Teesside's industry was, in historical terms, recent and short-lived.

      Hello and Thankyou for watching & commenting. Knowing that the high tide once came up to where today's Railway tracks are located it would be amazing to have some pictures from that era. Sadly impossible but it doesn't stop me imagining. The advantage of doing the disappearing landmarks of industry & Streets is that most people either worked in the Industries or regularly passed them so they have seen the changes first hand and can relate to it as I do. Hope you continue to watch as I do appreciate it.

    Nice to see a bit of greenery returning. I’m in two minds about the loss of industry, sad to see it go, but at the same time I remember most the kids in my old school having asthma, and I remember when the Tees was dead due to all the pollution from the local industry, not sad to see those days partially gone.

    • @MadeInGrangetown
      @MadeInGrangetown 11 днів тому

      Im the same to be honest. The changes blow my mind and growing up with all the industries practically surrounding us in Grangetown and many family members working in them the changing skyline and the impact and the part it played in this areas growth fascinates me. The facts an figures speak for themselves though. People died younger, people caught illnesses on a much larger scale and actual abject poverty was rife. When I have listened to older people describing those days I can understand why some say "good riddance' and I also understand why some wish for those days to return again but I sometimes feel its the morals & respect and the much better civil societies and communities that existed back then that they want to see returned and not the chimneys. A big massive Thankyou for watching & commenting Sir 👍
