My channel is dedicated to all of the arcade enthusiasts/addicts out there. I've learned so much (and still have a ways to go) from watching other's UA-cam videos and figured somebody out there might glean some helpful information from my arcade experiences.

Quantum Repro "Vector" Arcade Build
Переглядів 2814 роки тому
I've had this empty, gutted Gravitar cab forever (even got rid of it once, then got it back... long story). Decided to turn it into a "Quantum". There are subtle differences between a Quantum cab and a Gravitar cab; for instance, Quantum is a vertical game - Gravitar is horizontal, and the control panel for Quantum has a slight curve to it to accommodate the trackball. A Quantum cab also accoun...

Absolutely amazing. I wasn't aware this game was an actual machine.
Do you have a link to the non LED buttons that you used on the control panel?
@@foxbodystang8587 sorry I don't, but if I find one I'll share it
@@ArgonautArcade I appreciate that! Also, if by chance you have the color code, I’ll take that too lol. If not I plan to have it color matched. I’m currently restoring one of these much like you did this one. Mine was also converted to a shooting game.
I wanna buy this ahah
It will only go up in market price, if you take care of it
@@dieglhix there's no way to buy it in my country, and maybe only a few people can buy this, I wouldn't even know where to look for one.
That version has a better fps than the console version
Congrats on restoring this cabinet to her former glory! Thanks for sharing. :)

First of all, very nice job making a radical improvement to this great game. Personally, I really think you should have replaced the front panel with a new piece of wood and transfer the other hardware to it. As is, it may look ok but IMHO it's too much bondo trying to hide what is a badly patched together broken panel (for looks only). Again, nice work, I just would rather have a proper done front panel.
@@THEMARTIALARTSCHANNEL-bb4fx Because looks are all that matter. Don't reframe that wall, just put extra paint on it.
Hello I am in need of a Quantum Cabinet... Any idea who I could reach out to ?
Not sure. Mine was a converted space duel cab. If you can find the dimensions, you could get someone to cnc cut you a cab.
This version isn't emulated in MAME; it's the same one that appears in the Yakuza/Judgment games, with a different course (perhaps edited to make it easier to steer with a ride-on bike). Would be nice if it was possible to get it dumped!
I remember as a kid I wanted to become a motorcycle racer after playing enough Hang On & Super Hang On.
Como eu queria sentir e ter o prazer em poder ter jogado nesta máquina 😔
I have an acer computer monitor but I am unsure if it is possible to mirror the display, do you know if it is possible?
You'll have to check in the display settings, or Google the model number for the manual and check
I used to play this when I was 3 in Chile. Epic!
You have been unlock my 90s past 😢😢😢 i love that arcade when i was 6 years now im 39 😢
Nostalgia is the main reason I started collecting, simpler times ☺️

Yes but you never activate turbo .. why ? The game can't be finished without Using turbo boost 😄
Lol one handed driving, I should have tried activating it with my 🦶 😆
*JAJAJAJA TIENE RAZON SOLO USABA UNA MANO Y CON LA OTRA ESTABA GRABANDO EL VIDEO.GRACIAS POR COMPRARTIR ESTE VIDEO*
What size did you use for the key screw and nut for the coin door? Because I need one too for the coin door.
I typically use 7/8" ECONOMY DOUBLE BITTED LOCKS from twisted quarter.
Ok cool and that would fit in perfectly for the Galaga arcade machine? I have the same as you. An upright original Galaga arcade machine
@@abrahamvalentin3225 I'm pretty confident, like 98% sure it will fit, I don't have the machine anymore to verify and give 100%, but rarely do I need a special sized lock for a coin door. The backdoors tend to vary more often.
What good times to spend in the arcade on this game, unfortunately in the upright version, I would have really enjoyed testing this seated version, or better, the deluxe version.
I think I am going to build a dedicated cabinet as I have not found or seen one of these for sale in any condition. I will have to live with the emulator.
Yeah they're tough to come by. Cabinet plans are available online at www.classicarcadecabinets.com/reactor.html and if you can find one in stock, the jrok mylstar board emulates the hardware with an fpga.
The music the bike the smell of stale cigarettes oh the memories
This is rad as hell. I loved this game on Genesis/Megadrive as a kid, and always wished I could play the arcade version, but none of the places near where I lived had it. 😂
@ArgonautArcade - I loved what you did here. I just purchased a Space Invaders Deluxe with a bad monitor and was going to follow your steps and connect the exact monitor that you mentioned in your video. I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind. 1. Have you had any issues with using the lcd monitor 8 years later? 2. Do you have any recommendations on mounting or just connect the VESA to a board and mount the board (did it fit pretty easily)? 3. Do you see any issues or concerns if I cut the monitor power cable plug off and just wire it directly to the AC switching power supply? Thanks.
What's up! I sold the game to a local arcade, but it's still running today 🙂. For mounting, easiest/cheapesr would be to use the vesa mount and some plywood, you can use the old monitor frame railing as a guide to get your angle right. If you use the old monitor AC wiring, make sure you tap in before it gets to the isolation transformer (some ISOs step the voltage up or down).
@@ArgonautArcade - Thanks. The older guy I bought it from started to convert it to a switching power supply but I dont think he finished. I have to find some schematics/pinout diagram so that I can make sure that I have the wires connected to the correct power before I turn it on. For the AC, I was going to tap directly into the power supply before the iso transformer. I was hoping to put male molex pins on the composite video and stick them into the connector that is normally plugged into the board in case I sell it down the road and someone wants to go back to crt.
@ArgonautArcade - I am finally circling back to this project. Everything is working with the LCD monitor, just need to swap it out in the cabinet. Do you have any recommendations on how to remove the existing CRT in one piece? Ideally, I would like to remove it in one piece and either work on it or sell it as mine powers up fine, just has a video issue. The mirror makes it tricky and wondering what you did. Thanks
@@mkuc28 what up! You should be able to get it out the front in one piece. Unbolt it, remove the glass, and pull/roll it towards you (careful not to nick the glass neck).
Oh the memories ❤ Didn't the bike tilt side to side
It does! And thanks for reminding me that I still need to make this video :)
So with the power strip installed, how did you turn monitor on? Is it a separate step with tv remote?
Hi! No, that monitor came on automatically when power was applied. Most computer monitors do the same.
imma try this! thanks!!
this will help me to build my arcade!,thank you!
Glad it can help ya out :)
I've been building my own Midway Cab from scratch and I need measurements and tips/help AKA I want to find someone who has one so that I can reverse engineer it. Your video really helps with parts and question's I had but you can never have to much info.
Hi there! Have you come across this resource? - maybe it can help: www.classicarcadecabinets.com/galaga.html Also: forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/ms-pac-and-galaga-same-cabinet.389422/ Good luck with the build!
How can you config the controls??
Part 2 speaks to the controls
@@ArgonautArcade i see,i didnt had enough time to see the full vid
@@LandoOrlando it's been a while, I'm gonna have to watch part 2 as well to refresh my memory 😂
What a great machine to get ! Looks in great condition.
What's up man??! You abbreviated your UA-cam name! Lol Thanks! It Initially came out of a biker bar, had tons of grime and filth that needed to be scrubbed off, had to recap the monitor, Frankenstein the board to a working state, rewired the controls. It's been living at a friend's house for the past year or so, but now it's back in the game room 😎
where is the best place to buy the artwork?
Bunch of places reproduce Galaga art. I think I got this set off eBay. Escape pod is another place I get a lot of my art.
Nice job ! I just purchased an original one in real good working condition for cheap ! Can’t wait to do a minor restoration on it !
Nice! Hopefully yours has more structural integrity than mine did 😀
niiiceeeee. great job
Thank you!
Come on man! Give us some arcade love! Miss your updates!!
Lol thanks man. I have a Dragons Lair vid in the pipeline next, shouldn't be long
HELL YEAH!!!
I CAN FIX IT!
FIX IT FELIX!
Where did you get the actual cabinet? I want to build one myself. I live in Sweden :)
Hi there! Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, eBay, klov, OfferUp (not sure if that's still around); I've had maybe 10 Nintendo cabs over the years and they've all come from random 'for sale' sites. I believe the plans and dimensions are online if you decide to cut your own from scratch. Do a search on "nintendo arcade cabinet dimensions".
@@ArgonautArcade ok i see, and what about the coin door? Did you make it yourself or did you order it from somewhere?
@@Sjostrom2001 check arcadeshop and mikesarcade sites for reproduction coin doors. Shipping to Sweden might be high though.
@@ArgonautArcade thanks, gonna check it out👍
@@ArgonautArcade regarding the plans, i have actually printed out the dimensions on a a4 paper but i want to make it bigger. Do you know any company that can make it bigger? So i can use it as a template to cut the side panels
I'M GONNA WRECK IT!
Glad to see you!!!
👀 Thanks! glad to be back :)
The man, the myth the legend is back ! Woohoo. Great video ! Plus it's the greatest video game ever.
LOL thanks man, glad to hear from you :)
Cool. Thanks for the video. It's been awhile
And thanks for watching :)
Happy 40th Anniversary GALAGA!
Great seeing a new video from you! Really dig the work you do on the games
Thanks so much! I really need to average more than one video a year 🤣
@@ArgonautArcade yeah man you do! If you're not rehabbing a cabinet currently, maybe do a 15-20 minute walk through of your current lineup. From what I remember you had re-done a room in the garage and had a lot of cabinets/projects, give us a quick catch up :)
@@drummer7622265 you got it 😎
@@ArgonautArcade Totally agree, great to see a new vid and would enjoy seeing what the current gameroom lineup looks like!...
Just found one of these all original parts working great no issues. What's it worth
Did you buy it? If so, want to sell it?
You can also Try Break Cleaner and Magic Eraser. This works good also.
It's a 19" screen? Could I use a flat screen tv if it has RCA?
Sure can, that's exactly what I ended up doing: ua-cam.com/video/uVZyIlq2wR0/v-deo.html
54:27 Should have just made the washers and screws yellow.
That wouldn't match the aesthetics of the donkey kong cab that Disney lifted the design from 😉
but what supplies do you need for it?
I've been a fan of fix-it felix jr since I watched wreck-it-Ralph
