    Congratulations on finishing the AT. It was so cool to chat with you and share a few meals on the GAP trail last year and talk about this journey. I'm glad you recorded it as I think back then you were on the fence. If/when you do an after video, I'll throw a few questions out for consideration. I'd love to hear how the entire journey compared to what you thought it would be like. Also, did you find it mentally or physically tougher? If you had to do it over, would you do it again. What was your favorite part of the hike and least favorite. I'm sure you'll cover the usual gear stuff too. Do you have any plans for another thru hike? Congrats again Maynard aka Beatnik. Mike V.

      @@MichaelVanderslice Hi Mike, Thank you! Yes, I remember. We were all staying at the B&B house in Pa. and then we ran into you guys in Cumberland Md. I would say it’s physically tough but mentally it was tougher. I don’t plan on doing another Thur hike but if I did it would probably be the PCT. I may do the Long Trail (LT) in Vermont next Spring. It’s only 270 miles or so. I believe that my favorite part was the New England section Vt, Nh, and Me. My least favorite was Pa. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime and I am glad I did it. It’s good to hear from you.

    • @MichaelVanderslice
      @MichaelVanderslice 3 місяці тому

      @@MaynardHikes Thanks for getting back to me. I have found on my section hikes, the mental part is the hardest part for me too. Good for you for being able to push through and accomplish it. I can imagine that New England is the most scenic. Katahdin can be amazing. I've been up that 3 times with a lot of wind the one time similar to what you had. On a good day though, it's epic. Knife's Edge is unique too. I agree on PA being meh. That's where I grew up and the rocks are relentless to the north. The PCT does look amazing for a thru hike. I live in Arizona and have sectioned about 200 of the 800 mile Arizona Trail. Put that one on your radar too if you are looking for something scenic but not as long. I'd like to do it as a thru hike at some point. Come on out and we'll do it together. :) Congrats again and stay in touch. BTW, did a bike ride of the Erie Canal in June. GAP and C&O is way better, but it was an interesting trip.
