Johnny's Workshop Slot Car Flexible Wings
Переглядів 144Рік тому
Currently manufacturing flexible rear wings for slot cars. Printed in dark grey resin. NOT an exact replica of the original! But similar in shape, smaller in length and height. It was purposely designed this way to avoid getting stuck in barriers and other cars. Note: This wing is flexible but not 'floppy'. It will absorb shock and the occasional landing on the floor. Not unbreakable though! Av...

Nice building at home theese things, the rail how will be made? I thought could be fun for 1/43 rallying making a custom adapter for Carrera Go!!!-Policar. Here in Italy are available a lot of Polistil tracks to restore and revive with Policar power supply, and when surface is not recoverable a dirt track conversion becomes the easiest choices
Hi Mattia, I was able to use copper tape to transfer current across instead of an actual rail. But braid can also be an option if changing the design slightly
Typo: the 3D printed track is 153 mm wide and not 153 cm wide 😅
This was one of the counters I was trying to get my hands on for Crow Valley before the DS. I'm glad you now have it out to buy and only £60!! I want one and I know one other guy that will also want one! I have two track builds on the go right now, so will be placing my order very soon !!
Thank you 🙂
Hi, would there be an option to have a separate button for the functions rather than having to press the rotary switch? I'm not a fan of pressing rotary switches as sometimes you can change values rather than pushing the button down. I have press rotaries on some other items I have and they never quite work every time, a simple button works out best for me as you don't have to be so careful.
@@SwiftSlots Hi, I could potentially design a 3 buttons (or 1 button plus rotary encoder) version for you. Please, email me via website and we can discuss further details. Thanks 🙂
@@johnny_s_workshop I sent you an email yesterday.
Great car and nice video. Made in Spain. Saludos desde EspaÑa
1. Can the sensitivity be adjusted to detect different distances from the box 2. Can you set a number of laps then record the time to complete the laps 3. Can you set a time then record the number of laps in that time 4. The box needs a beeper for each passing of the car ...when the finished product is ready I'd like one please.
Brilliant! I will let you know.
I am currently mid way through 3d printing a single lane track for my back entertainment room and this would be perfect, are you going to list them for sale or ?
Hi, I will start listing them as soon as I finish designing casing and finish implementing functions. Please, feel free to drop me an email via web-store: johnnysworkshop.co.uk . It will be easier this way in order to build you a copy to fit your track needs. cheers
Hello, Please can you share information on how this works? I am trying my very best to not use a lightbridge and this may just solve my problem.
Hi Wayne, It's still in development. It's a proximity sensor calibrated to capture cars passing over it. I will make a lap counter available at some point.
@@johnny_s_workshop Thank you for the reply. i have been looking real hard and think i am correct in assuming infra-red pair. i currently went with optical gap sensors fitted into the rails under track and that is working... mostly :) Good luck with your project.
@@WayneBekker-z4f yes, IR sensors. The light bounce back from the car and trigger laps. Thanks 🙂
Awesome build! I’m looking for parts to build a Chaparral 2C at the moment.
I was there 😊 great to see the super tourers
These cars are to narrow. The scale is not right.
Indeed they are.
Hello, Dropping by from Slotforum, this looks very interesting - but no description or breakdown?? Best Regards, Jack
Hi Jack, you are correct. But you can find more about the development on my website: johnnysworkshop.co.uk Please, bear in mind: This development is for now on stand-by as I am in the process of moving house and will take some time to carry on. Same goes for all the 3D printed items. Kind regards, Jean
..Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe.
Thank you 😃

Will be keeping an eye on your site for them, very interested in this for a Policar 2 lane track, with no relays. I assume integrating the controllers is also optional?
Thank you. Option details will be available on the website.
Will the sensors be available separately ? So i could use an arduino and race coordinator.
Sure, I can make some available and a little tutorial at some point. Please, keep an eye on the website as I am currently building the web store and listing all the goodies.
Have you used thin cardboard? Great video btw, thanks
Hi, Thank you. I've used a fine plastic sheet on the guide. Plastic from a soft-drink bottle can also do the trick
yes that is right they only had one wiper on those cars
nice set-up.
Thank you 🙂, it's currently for sale
The little bracket that comes with the car is for a SP43 digital chip. Not for the light board.
I didn't use it on the Light-board, but modified the bracket to hold the O2 chip.
Received my first pioneer legends a couple of weeks ago .totally love them ...of course with the magnet removed ...Greetings from Northern Europe 🤗...Harry
You are so blessed in the uk with slot car clubs and events. Almost zero interest here in Latvia. Greetings...Harry .ps I gave you a subscription 🤗
Thank you very much! Maybe you could start a new trend in Latvia
@@johnny_s_workshop hopefully....ile certainly try 🤗
Nice car 🤙🏾
Thanks 🙂
Thanks for posting! Just got myself a NSR ASV GT3 as an early Xmas gift; how much weight did you add overall?
Sadly, I am not able to give you a precise ballast measurement as the car was sold a little while ago. We (a friend and I) last time, tried with some sticky fishing ballast behind the front axle as the car was lifting of the slot on wood track. also had the Very Hard 'green' chassis on, for that same wood track setup.
@@johnny_s_workshop thanks again! Guess I'll start with the button tungsten weights and tune from there with the putty.
Excellent video. Very helpful in understanding how to get to the back axle. Now I just need to understand how to open a Scalextric Lotus 72!
Really good racing, especially the club class. And the track looks epic.
Thank you!
The Scalextric Niki Lauda..
I bought one of these a couple of months ago and it’s by far the worse handling car out of all my gt3 cars. Within 10 minutes it sideswiped a barrier at relatively low speed cracking the rear bodywork and the rear light lens and bumper flying off. I found the same problems with the protruding chip which caused frequent deslotting. I glued the chip inside the pan but there were still other issues. I put an upgraded magnet in it, the same that I’ve used on other cars but it was binding against the crown wheel. Every problem I seemed to solve made another problem. Sadly it’s been confined to the spare parts bin. Won’t by another Scalextric car with this type of chassis.
I know, it's such a shame. It's a nice model with questionable chassis design. Some guys have designed/used 3d printed chassis to make it a much better car
@@johnny_s_workshop I just hope the new Porches to be released this autumn have a different chassis, Thanks for the video, at least I know it wasn’t just my car.
funnily enough, I got the the number 66 SD team car Parker racing Porsche 911 GT3 car, and had similar issues, the car kicks the rear end out too much and gets caught too easily in the bends, either coming to a complete stop, or leaving the track, I found that releasing the screws a little to let the body float a little on the chassis helps a bit, luckily I have not damaged mine yet, but it's only 3 months old, and I have had a couple of scares with it, rear wing has only popped off once, though thank god and they clip back in these days so that is a bonus, no horrible looking glue remnants left on body work as with my previous DRP cars.
That's a once-in-a-lifetime bucket list thing for me. I hope you had an amazing time!
We had a wonderful time! Thanks.
Where does one acquire such a device?
Hi, they are available here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374921427407

Looks like the individuals in the outer lsnes are pre-determined to loose or do the small inside curves somehow make up the difference?
Apart from the GP race, all the other classes are an accumulation of laps made in all heats.
nice one!
Is this the car I won one eBay yesterday?? you put a lot of work into it. Can't wait for it to arrive 😀
Yes, that's the one! congratz! =)

Nice track design what cars are you running !!
Thanks.
Nice!
Looks complicated
Lovely circuit.
I swear in some of the older videos you could recognise the car. Now I can't recognise the class! Have they got so much faster?
Not sure why, same speed and frame-rate as last time.
