Choosing between SPC and WPC Luxury Vinyl Flooring.

Choosing between SPC and WPC Luxury Vinyl Flooring.
I think nylon6,6 may be the one for me then tbh
What about when you have triangle stairs? If your stairs curve slightly and two or three of them are triangle shaped, and all different sizes.
bro is that a 2-tone daytona no wonder it requires a new mortgage on my house to get carpet installed. ill be honest with you that is a really bad look bro.
So, dont go any thicker than 3/8" with a loop/berber?
So what category does carpet by Shaw labeled 100% anso performance PET?
Anso High Performance PET. Delta shape extrusion, six twists per inch heat set. Basically Stain and Bleach proof, made to spec of Original Armstrong Anything Goes delta shape extrusion 6.6 nylon. Technology has moved the needle.
I agree with some of this, but definitely not all of it. I've been a pro carpet cleaner since 1987 and I see most of these carpets after they've actually been down for 20 and even 30 years. I agree wool is the best but definitely not for everybody and you have to be very careful about stain removal. One wrong stain product can ruin these expensive carpets pretty quick. Also, I think polypropylene is ideal for some of my customers and I also have seen it in rentals after 15 or 20 years with severe abuse, but they still clean up very well. For the overall general customer nylon is my number 1 pick for wear and resilience although wool is also very resilient. Some of these carpets do not do well in homes with dogs especially those that are not house-trained. Both wool and nylon are not generally good for dog owners who can't control their dogs properly. I've seen EXTREME damage caused by dogs quite a few times, particularly on wool and nylon. The same goes for area rugs made from these fibers.
Just thank you and a God Bless on top.
Mike if i hear a bunch of noise from downstairs from my kids in the gameroom what would be the best pad to use? Im leaning towards a 10lb which i have been told would help the noise and not feeling board seams.
Thank you for comparing to coretec. Great info.
I prefer the latter of the unmentioned options which many of my brothers and sisters rely on to last till the end of time regardless the wear or tear and DOES NOT show stains or require any maintenance for the entirety of its use whether that be years, decades or even millennia…it’s probably the best kept secret in the industry and they don’t want you to know because it’ll just cut into their profits. But the most commonly used flooring especially in the exclusive far-east regions of the world that I’m referring to is..dirt. Kids love it, animals deficate freely in it and heck folks will always enter as well as leave your home commenting on the uniqueness of this aspect of flooring. The only foreseeable downside is getting it wet at which point it’s now referred to as mud but just avoid it for 2-3 days and it will (yep you guessed it) return to its normal solidified state at which point the whole family is welcome to once again roll around on it. 😀 👍
Polyester wears and matts, It’s cheap but doesn’t last! Nylon wears great and is less expensive then wool, Get nylon in a cut/loop and you will get a lot of years and performance!
You need to take textile classes to explain it better. You have an idea but still not explaining it correctly. You sound like you kinda know but its best to get some education and youll notice education =knowledge
Whats best carpet pad for on concrete floor
This is nine months later, what did you use for pad? I am learning to not go with particle pad. To use a memory foam pad.
I bought a polyester carpet recently and I really hate the sandpaper like sound it makes in socks. Is nylon any better?
You're the first person I've seen who's rated Triexta below Nylon 6 or in most cases 6,6. You even said it yourself, it's the softest, it's the most stain resistant, and the most resilient. The only con was you can see the traffic. I don't understand why it's below Nylon.
thank you!
Hi, can you tell me the name of the carpet at time stamp 1:35 with the shimmer?
Hi Lisa! Thanks for watching. Donegal is the name of that carpet.
The most straight forward video about carpet! I'm not trying to engineer carpet I just want good information before talking to a sales person so I have a clue. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind message

Do you have any pick of herringbone in somebody’s house?
Thanks you I'm saving this video 💜💛
why is it left in pad it looked like it had a cover on it
What are your thoughts about the aquaguard performance? Comparable to the Mohawk and pergo ?
Thank you for your comment SAAS' Mom. I believe aquaguard is a water proof laminate. I think they sell that brand at Floor & Decor. I like the LVP products better because and SPC (lvp) product has a solid polymer core. There is no way that this product will swell. The water proof laminate however is still made up of HDF (high density fiber board) which will swell over time even if it is sealed. The only advantage of the aquaguard product is its thickness in my opinion. Most LVP products range from 4mm - 8mm where as the aquaguard products are mostly 12mm. The thickness helps in the area of less floor prep. I would just go over the warranties with the salesperson with a fine tooth comb and get everything in writing on your receipt before purchasing that floor if you like it. Thanks again for reaching out and good luck with your new floor!
I like how some of the pics showed the joints offset irregularly, that is not in a predictable 'running bond' pattern. That's the biggest failure with any type of wood-look flooring. Regular and predictable joints.
I agree Jon Miguel.
What is the name of this store that you are showing these products
Carpet Empire Plus
Mannington is one of the best.

Hi Mike, l live in the UK 🇬🇧. What UK brands are good? I’m looking to get LVF, Vinyl, laminate flooring for my living room and passage. There is soo much choice it’s overwhelming. Would really appreciate your advice.
Hi Mango Thank you for reaching out. Im not familiar with the UK brands but I would make sure that the specs include a 20 mil wear layer and at least 6mm thick or above. As long as your choice meets these 2 requirements you will be fine.
We have in the UK stores such as B&Q, Wickes, Homebase, Howdens that supply wooden flooring.
Thank you for replying back, will follow your advice. Keep up the good work with your UA-cam channel Mike you have a fan from the UK 🇬🇧 🥳
I'm about to get a TAS floor...not sure how that ranks up. 20 mil wear layer, 4.5thickness with spc core
Thanks for reaching out friend. 20 mil wear layer is great! 4.5 thick is ok... I would put an additional .6 mm moisture barrier underneath this product if you decide to purchase it. This will give your floor just a little bit more stability and help with sound. You are allowed to go up to 2 mm thick with total underlay.
That Seagrass is beautiful. Now I'm not sure if I want that one or Only Natural, which I don't see in this video. I guess I like the basket looking ones 😆
The basket weaves are very nice. I know there are so many choices! The synthetic look alike comes with a 3/8 cushion and the real natural fiber has a urethane back and is glued straight to the concrete. I personally like them both as well.😀
Have two brands of LVF in my home. Both are high quality. But, I LOVE my Core-tec floor that has bevels. It actually looks like farmhouse planking. Best thing I ever did was getting rid of wall-to-wall carpets. SO easy.
I love the Coretec flooring as well. Very nice product and the specs are good as well. I agree it is so much easier to clean than carpet! Glad to see you are happy with your floors. 😄
Good tips, Mike. Come do the demo at my house now.😄😄
😂No problem!!
Awesome advice, Brotherr. Good to see you.
Whats up Big Country!!! Miss ya bro! Great to hear from you. Hope all is well with you. Keep in touch friend! 😃👊

Not just wow, Sham-wow!! Thanks for the tip. Any tips for older carpets that are heavily soiled - pets, kids, wear & tear?
Hi Richard!! Great to hear from you friend! The only thing that I can think of for older soiled carpets would be those handheld steam cleaners. You just use water only with them. Basically its just water and suction. You can buy them for under 100 bucks. Hope all is well and thanks for reaching out. 😃
Very informative. Thank you for sharing. I’m definitely going to use this next time my cat coughs up a hair ball. Appreciate you knowledge!
Ive used corelexe in my home pia install. Held up well. I have a home slab on grade florida that needs flooring waterproof. I plan to seal concrete slab with kilz or similar. What floor do u recommend for this climate and waterproof?
Thank you for reaching out. I would use an SPC product that is at least 6.5 mm thick with a 20 mil wear layer. I think Coretec would be a good choice. Coretec comes with a cork backing attached to it. In your case I would add a .6 mm underlayment that protects your floor strictly for moisture. I know you are sealing the slab but you can never be too careful. I hope this information is helpful to you in your search for a new floor. I think the specifications I listed are more important than the brand name.
Where did you film your video? Lowes or Home Depot?
Carpet Empire Plus. We are a carpet store in southern California. Couple different locations.
Would you happen to know how The Mission Collection is. We are going for the Traildust design under Cortona Plus. Its an SPC
Im not familiar with that collection. I would just make sure that its at least 6 mm total thickness and 20 mil wearlayer for hardness. SPC is good.
Useless information
We are looking to buy LVP flooring and have shopped around. I was recently at Floor & Decor looking at NuCore 22 mil wear layer and 8mm thickness-$4.29 sq ft. They also carry Optimax which is above NuCore they say. Looking at 7 mm with "Techtanium" wear layer at $4.19 sq ft. Do you have any info on Optimax vs NuCore brand? Thanks, love your videos.
Hi Carol, NuCore is a very good brand and 22 mil is excellent! I also like the 8mm thickness. I would prefer the NuCore in this case. I do not carry the brand but I am familiar with it and it is an excellent product. I have also seen a couple of NuCore floors installed and they are very solid. Thank you for your kindness. Mike
Do not by this stuff. Had few planks from one of your recommended vendors that seeped something. Vendor offered no help. Getting replacement planks installed is nightmare.
I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm a flooring dealer I sell southwind flooring an love it.. I kinda disagree with him I put 4.5 mil an 1 mil pad a spc stone core in out show room an my own house.. what you want to look for is a real warranty. An can your supplier you buy from get hole of floor rep if there is a problem ever with your floor
Weren’t you supposed to talk about SPC Vinyl flooring?
Yes, In this video I was covering the best brands of Luxury Vinyl Plank
We purchased some NuCore flooring (from Floor & Decor, which you might consider the Harbor Freight of flooring). It is the high-end, solid core product. It is 6mm, so not as thick as the products you mentioned in your video, but it is an extremely hard product. Scratching it is virtually impossible. Digging in with a cut piece of 12 awg wire, a key, a nail, only leaves a light mark that you can actually wipe away with a damp cloth. Installing some on our stairs, I ruined a Diablo 50-tooth blade doing the long rip cuts. To me, it's a pretty hardy product. What is your opinion of the NuCore line? Also, the instructions for the floor say to NOT put their product under any fixed object, like kitchen cabinets. What do you suppose the long term durability of the NuCore product would be with a refrigerator or stove on it? They make no specific mention of appliances, just the general term, "fixed" objects.
Hi friend. Thank you for your response. NuCore is actually an excellent product! I highly recommend NuCore! The only reason I didnt mention this product is because I do not carry the line. You will be in good shape with your floor. The reason you cannot install the NuCore or any floating floor for that matter underneath cabinets is because it will still expand and contract. If the cabinets are shot in on top not allowing your floating floor to move then your will get buckling because it has no where to go. If you were to install tile that is adhered to the floor and does not expand and contract that is a floor that you can install cabinets on top of permanently with out problems. You are a pleasure and I appreciate your questions and your tuning in. Thanks again
What’s up shady? Hopefully all is well 😊
What’s up Green Go! Miss you bro! Hope you are doing well!😊👊
@@miketomlinsonflooring3725 don’t be a stranger! We would like to see you drop in occasionally! 😊
which brand for lvp would be number 1 on your list for long term
Hi Tamara, My first choice would be the Paradigm Conquest series. These boards come 9”x72” and they are nice and thick. They are a 20 mil product and have a beautiful selection to choose from. Core tech and Provenza are also good brands to choose from. 😊👍
@@miketomlinsonflooring3725 can you recommend a color for contemporary home, light not dark from paradigm lvp? I am torn between estate and spice color. Any insight is appreciated. Thank you
@@sshah1311 Thank you for reaching out. I love the Estate to answer your question. Its my absolute favorite! Paradigm Conquest Series Estate the 72" lengths look absolutely stunning when installed.
