In all likelihood the only real reason why Morvan and Pilatus were forced to lip-sync was due to their European accents. However with artists using AI and auto tune, who really knows how talented they really are? With those technologies, even someone like me could record a song.

I do not think it was that big of a deal. It was the looks and dance moves that sold the music and videos of Milli Vanilli. The tragic thing was both Rob and Fab were bonafide and legitimate singers who could break dance. They were just as talented as the actually MV singers.
