Run your life like a business. Your income(s) are revenue. What you earn is net of all taxes and expenses. If your below 20% net you need to reduce overhead or increase revenue. Most my young life I didnt understand this. Earlier learned the better.

I'm working on the CPA right now. I love the stock market, but I know how these exams like to trick you and make it harder than it needs be. After experiencing the CPA exam process I would say only pursue the CFA if you always were better than most people in math-related subjects and standardized exams and have a serious interest in the financial markets. I have always been below average in taking standardized exams because I ask a 1,000 questions with everything I read. Time limits will kill you on exams if you are not very very smart with math related subjects.

Ppl are so worried about what others think about them that they refuse to help themselves. When it comes to saving learning what to sacrifice is easy but making the actual sacrifice is the hard part. There are many things in life you don't need that you could go without and save tons. I save and have alot of money put away and money in many different investments that i dont touch. Everyone who makes more than me spend all there money amd then come try to get me to spend what i have or ask for loans and they act like because i have it they should be able to borrow it from me. Its basically the grasshopper and the ants. When you start to make money and save learn how to say no.

Brother, I used to work for a Big 4 Firm, for Deloitte, in the Audit Department specifically on FSI Audits - Funds, Insurance and Banks). I only joined a Big 4 Firm after getting my Masters degree as its "good" for your CV. I honestly don't understand the appeal for working in a Big 4 Firm - I used to work extra long hours, no overtime and to be frank, for shit pay. The business model of Big 4 Firms is as follows: pay “low level employees” (seniors/senior associates) who make most of the work on audit engagements mediocre wages and make extremely high profit margins on them when charging clients by the hour. I left after two years. I now work as an accountant in industry earning more than double than what I used to make at Deloitte.

I feel your frustration man. I do feel KPMG played a big part in getting me into Booth just for the name and I personally did learn a lot my time there. I probably could’ve made more money somewhere else but I believe it will even out at the end given the experience and the resume boost it will provide me in the future. I will say I never felt as if I was being overworked so I guess I just got lucky…
