What can £10 get me in a Charity Shop?
I visited Sofa Charity Shop in Loughborough with a challenge in mind.
What can £10 get me in this Charity Shop?
With only a few rules.
The cheapest an individual item can be is £1, it has to be either something useful and functional, for personal purchase or with reselling in mind.
No item purchased at £1 can be worth less than £1.
Did you see anything you think I missed?

Charity Shopping in RICH areas of London
Переглядів 1,8 тис.9 годин тому
I visited Highbury & Islington to find out; are the Charity Shop prices high due to the area? What are the prices on average from all in the area? I wanted to take a look and see for myself; curious by the Charity Shop price and culture in London. Some Charities have even adopted 'Boutique' shops. What are TKMAXX prices like in London?
Переглядів 155День тому
Are TKMAXX's Yellow Sticker prices actually good value? I decided to take it upon myself to visit the Oxford Street and Brixton TKMAXX shops, during their Yellow sticker/yellow label sale. Find out how this went. For other social media links @Life at gully on Tik Tok @Gullygarms on Instagram
How many TKMAXX Stores can I visit in ONE Day?

TKMAXX, Also Known as TJ Maxx; the American outlet store providing reduced pricing and discounted new goods. Twice a year; they run 'Yellow label/Yellow stickers' where Items that have been on sale for 6 or more weeks, get reduced in their price. Some for as low as 20-50p on the final days. This is TWO-Week limited off TJ/TKMAXX does, so I thought. "What is the best way for me to show the yello...

Are you a "People Pleaser"? (Podcast style content)
It’s about finding someone who can work around in and your bubble, accepting that you need the freedom to keep hustling.
Exactly!
All I ever do now is watch your vids, Ive switched up mate! Gone from Trinny Woodall to Life at Gully! You are the man!
Hahaha Bex I appreciate you! Means a lot and il make sure to keep worthwhile watching content coming 😂😂😭🫶🫶
That place is huge!
It really is ! They’re upstairs is so intriguing
Primrose hill .. lots of big brands..charity shop
You set yourself a challenge to spend £10 in a charity shop? Surely anyone can do that in any charity shop
100% James, but most people might not. The full video shows what I got if you were interested, but totally no worries if you’re not interested in that!
@@Lifeatgully Ah didn't realise there was a full video, will check it out
Where is this shop mate?
Its a Charity store on Nottingham Rd in Loughborough
That’s the one! Great shop
Called SOFA , it’s on the corner of Nottingham road
What did you get apart from washing people's time?
@ you’ll have to watch the full video to find out!
Sorry Spencer, what do you mean by Carhartt Reworked, and avoiding them, what’s the story please?
Hey Stuart, thanks for watching and for the question! The ‘Carhartt reworks’ got a lock of stick, when the market got an insane influx of these, sold as ‘made from damaged carhartts’ but were actually just mass producing moody stuff! So avoid them at all costs
🫣 hangers can be such a long day
You never know some places have furniture clearances with great prices 👌🏼
Very true! I have luck finding cheaper furniture where charity shops are focused more on secondhand as their business model, when it’s sustainable and upcycle; it’s always more but as rightfully so, more of a service!
That brocolli teddy was part of a collection you could collect in co-op. You had to spend a certain amount. My nan collected two sets for my two children xx
No way! I didn’t know that, I thought it looked like more of a plush style teddy anyway! Wonder how many characters there were in the total collection!
Have bought a few items from this shop but not made much on reselling
It’s a good shop, think for its variety it’s got a lot. Clothing wise I’ve had some success on the reselling when doing these video examples, but I discovered it through Marge; her friend is one of the upcycle ladies who works upstairs. Appreciate you for watching!
I really like that broccoli. I kind of want it. Do you still have it?
It’s interesting isn’t it ? Yes I may do another live uploading and listing to Vinted, will have to collect some together! (Currently living on my desk 😂)
Keep talking about the shady prices loudly in front of them 👍🏻
Watch the full video, I asked them and we had a chat, keep it casual my dude 🫶
@Lifeatgully dude, don't be a lefty, performative "love" ain't love 🫱🫶🏻🫲

In London myself far too dear, I wait until sales. Most high streets have charity shops in all areas.
Oh really! Is there any area in London in particular you’d recommend for charity shopping? Definitely want to do this again in another area
@@Lifeatgully Hackney, Marylebone, Brick Lane, (more thrift) Finchley, Hammersmith, Parsons Green, Kensington, Camden (loads of vintage stores), Dalston, Hackney, Kilo places. There's just so many as I say every High Street. Good one week, rubbish a month later, just keep trying, good luck.
Okay amazing thanks for the intel, definitely want to do the Hackney charity shops for sure ! And lots of other places
Really enjoy your content. Charity shops, too good to go's. Like your personality aswell. You're a pleasure to listen too. Your passion for what you do definitely comes across tenfold.
Hey Bex, really appreciate this message and so glad you enjoy the content! I super value it and hope others find value in it too🫶
if you want very overpriced tac check out Henley on Thames and Windsor, as a bonus you even get staff who look down their nose at you as well.
i used to be a manager of Barnardos North Finchley we used to get fab donations Merilyn
Where are some of the best areas in London to try charity shopping ? But I think some areas get amazing donations
Go pro and phone out in Brixton … 😅
😂 I needed to get the shots! But yeah have to be quick with it … I felt like someone was more likely to pinch it when I was in central!
Just a suggestion, you should of put a warning about the flickering lights in the 2nd charity shop, as people with epilepsy is can give them a epilepsy fit.
Thanks for your comment Heather, it is unfortunately a setting the camera has and it’s hard to know until going into certain lighting settings. Appreciate your feedback and for watching also!
Are the staff in the charity shops are they paid or are they volunteers to keep the cost down
All charity shops have unpaid volunteers, but they all have as you’d expect manager systems in place to manage the volunteers, stock, movement of it all etc. I wouldn’t be able to quote as I do think it changes charity to charity
I do love a good charity shop! Antique shops are good to look in too!
100% both experiences totally different but I feel antique shop layouts, are similar to old school charity shop ones!
Cheers from Colorado 🇺🇸♥️🇬🇧
Appreciate you for watching!! 🫶🫶
I love this, didn’t have a clue on earth was going on but it was really good to just go for a wonder with you around the streets and through all the shops. I don’t think you’re a brother appreciate some of your banter. You’re very friendly It’s quite disarming but interesting how you can pull other people into conversations with you to discuss your specialist topic. Fascinating looking at the world through your eyes and what you’re drawn to. Thank you for sharing.👋🥰
Appreciate you Pauline! Yes the GoPro is great isn’t it? But I need a handle for it so there’s a bit more stability on the shots, agreed bit of a rollercoaster at times 😂 Agreed, we’re all different and I just find myself getting curious and immersed in things, especially if I can interact with people, it’s warming! And feels like it brings another level of value to the content Thanks as always for watching! 🙏🫶
I'm here for it! Love it! Recycle, recycle, recycle! I'm not late to the sustainable party but I only discovered you on tiktok a few months ago. I know right! I'm here for it now! 😂
Haha let’s GO Bex! Appreciate that, yeah it’s been great on tik tok but I do love making longer form content like this! Appreciate you 🫶
Ah yes the content keeping me well entertained while in hospital love to you brother
Appreciate you my man and sending my best to you! Will keep the content coming on a more regular basis now thanks to the new handy camera! 💪 🫶

Hey! Appreciate you, and honestly it's been so long overdue getting back to it. Life happens, think had to take a run with the Tik Tok social side but the GoPro is definitely going to help merge both worlds, make some good content too! Appreciate you
That's dedication ❤ thank you for showing us Spen. Very interesting.
Quite a commitment I know! But appreciate you for watching Ellah!
Should see the warehouse staff sales mate. Unreal
What really ? Can I get a private invite lol
Did you buy anything?
I did, a Jameson Carter zip up windbreaker! In the second TKMAXX I think
I’m into that drilling and that hoodie is 🤢

Blimey its tkmax the movie ..i need popcorn n drink shall return 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 yeah lock in it’s a long one! It was a long day but interesting experiment
What a tour thanks 🎉
Thanks for watching! 🥰
I think 🤔 £70 🎉 round 2 please 😅
Have you ever been to Smithfield market and car boot
One actually not! What’s it like ?
Not been but was told a few years ago to go as a good place if you want to resell. Love you charity shop visits. I find charity shop are getting expensive so will be going to the car boots when the properly restart. 🚗
Agreed, charity shops are selling clothes for way too much and it’s just infuriating especially when it comes to fast fashion items. Love this video and all the info, thank you
Yeah, it’s fast fashion where the problem really sits. Appreciate you, thanks for watching and for finding value 😊
Good new video 😝
Appreciate you Chris ! Little look into the tk tour before the main video 🤣
I like watching different content, it’s about getting to know you and what your about, it’s easy watching
I hope it wasn’t too expensive as I don’t think there’s going to be anything worth a lot but it’s definately a fun video. Off to find part 2
Hi sorry I've been quiet got alot going on my dad has terminal cancer been going backwards and forwards seeing him he is now going home for end of life care hope you are doing well x
Imagine seeing man has bought your lost luggage 😂😂
Weirdo .
Definitely an old man's bag from the shoes and alarm clock if you paid over £50 for it I reckon you've taken a loss. I'll take a stab in the dark and say £30
Brill video. Do you pay postage? Does it cost a lot for packing? You obviously buy in bundles, how can I be sure what I am recieving. Cheers man
Hey! Thanks for your comment. Regarding our mystery bundles, I would advise you buy either individual items on our tilt where it is £1 no reserve on a single product, or to take a small risk / plunge on a little bundle we do (1-2kg bundles) with the outlined spec on the front of it
Great video. You don’t mention postage? who pays postage? Cost of packing? Original cost of goods deducted from full sale cost? time spent to wrap each item and deliver a batch to the post office.
Hey, I have collections for our post so no cost there. Buyers pay relative to sellers; who set postage at their own internal costs and discretion. For us we charge £3.50 per auction, on a buy one get one free basis. This system then repeats
What was the ap you had to scan the clothes Spencer ?
Google lens !
Hi there I’m new to tilt i have no idea how to buy Any advice would be appreciated thanks
The excitement for the burger was unreal!!
Honestly it was so worth the wait too! 😂🥰
