OCMS is an independent Christian charity, based in the beautiful and ancient city of learning in Oxford, England.
Truly international in its leadership, fully interdenominational in its reach, and deeply evangelical from its roots to its mission, OCMS brings together members of the worldwide church under one roof to research, reflect and respond to challenges faced across cultures and in the varying economic, social and political contexts in which Christians worship and witness.
For more than thirty years church leaders, mission and development professionals, and global Christian scholars have sought to better understand how to bring the transforming nature of their faith to effect change in the lives of those they serve. Whether through PhD level research, writing and publishing, cutting-edge mission consultations or individual guided research, the goal is to build reflective practitioners equipped to serve the church as it participates in God’s whole-life mission.

Excellent lecture, so much to think about. Thankyou Dr Kim.
Incredible father
Very concise. Well done Prof.
I have just listened to this MBL and it is very informative and helpful to me. The lecture responds to many of the questions I am reflecting on as I navigate the complexities of using AI in research. Thanks, Kirk for the lecture and thanks, OCMS for making this lecture available.

Thank you for sharing these presentations.
Thank you
Thoughtful, interesting lecture! The Native American cultures of North America seem closely allied with European cave art -- the importance of animals to their culture, along with the animal-dressed shaman, are so similar. Having the benefit in America of the survival of some of these ancient attitudes and practices, it seems likely that the European cave paintings were accompanied not only by music but by imaginative story-telling.
I'm a great fan of Mr. Persson's textbook on colloquial Sudanese Arabic. 👍
born and raised in ethiopia. technically can’t say the orthodox are really christians. they worship their priests from medieval era and some saints more than the god of christianity
What a merciful blessing to someone like me - deeply culpable - merciful though devastating. Hugely important and a mercy. Thank you Dr Niringiye and thank you to the Oxford Centre for making this widely available.
Subsidiarity has also found its way into the development of African Union law. “Central government shall create enabling conditions for decision-making, policy and programme initiation, adoption and implementation to take place at lower levels of government where local governments or local authorities offer a better guarantee of pertinence and efficacy.” (Article 6.1 Subsidiarity, African Charter on the Values and Principles of Decentralisation, Local Governance and Local Development, 2014)
Thank you so much for making this video available. I appreciated very much what Keith White shared about one of my heroines, Pandita Ramabai. I'm glad to hear that he is a current authority on the Pandita since Meera Kosambi has passed away. I am also glad to hear of the extensive book he has written. I will be looking for it on Amazon.
In the original teachings the Aloha (heb.Aleh) is the "ascendant person." And the attributes are our sacred attributes. These teachings are known to Khem (pre-Egypt), Mayan, and Polynesian and early christian wisdom. So what the hell were the Turks doing to the eastern christians? THERE IS ONLY ONE LORD! THAT IS YHWH, or the "ABBA" Sacred Heart, Supreme Elder. The Tawwabi were the early followers of Yohana at-Tawwab, the Baptist. ❤❤❤
Why does Islam and even India claim origin of Sufism. This is written by the conquerors of histories, but is not true. There is actual written evidence that even YESHUA is knowledgeable of Sufism. So the early 1st-to-6th century Christians must have also known about these concepts, by different terms. So it has to be of the Prophet Schools of the Al-QADAM, and Al-ABDAHIM, which are known to go back as far as 3300bc, from Abraham's grandchildren and even among some of the earliest of KHEM citizens 3375bc. The Israel tradition has the An-NABIM school from MOSES, & AARON of the 2227bc EXODUS. My own research
Great talk

Great lecture And vibrant ideas about the passionate spiritual enthralling ( for us) understanding of their exploration of life, meaning
yes the light was traveling for billions of years but god decided not to show up until the last 6,000 or 2,000 if you believe in an abrahamic god. but thousands and thousands of gods showed up for the last 40,000 years. they were just not accepted by you until your god showed up. i listened to this wonderful story about artists and art and the uniqueness of man/woman. it is a shame for humanity that your type of thinking would add some "imagined being" and attempt to let it supersede all those billions of years of evolution. just remember stuff will exist billions of years from now and if humanity exists that long (good luck) that "being" you speak of, will be tossed into a garbage heap just like all the other gods you don't believe in.
Are you a part of the gang stalkers? You can pass it on. Thank you. This is neither an invitation, nor a solicitation, this iis the truth. I am not The Whore of Babylon. To be completely transparent, this is neither an invitation nor a solicitation, these are facts. I am and have been abstinent here in Philadelphia, PA for seven and one half years. My eldest son is still a virgin (and I wasn't cheating on my husband when he was deployed and I was pregnant with him), and my youngest son is married and expecting a baby girl with his wife, unless he changes his mind. 05-23-2016 EST.-11-23-2023 or whenever they stop accusing me of things that are not happening. Neither my eldest son nor I drink alcoholic beverages or beer, we don't do drugs and are not taking prescription medications. Camey has had a bad reaction to the medicine within the past few days, but I gave it to him as requested. My youngest son is also doing well. We moved out of 2939 West Clementine Street, Philadelphia PA 19132 well over four years ago. I have not been paid in almost 30 weeks. I don't own a business. I am going to purchase a pregnancy test today to prove I am not pregnant or having sex (since someone lied and said I am having sex (even with my own child(ren). Neither of my sons did/do not traffick or exploit me. I have not taken any bribes. I have never had cosmetic surgery or Botox. I am not LGBTQIA+ and don't go to strip clubs. I was a virgin when I went to college the first time.
I would be a Quaker, but I can't reconcile the goal of gender justice with the misogyny that permeates the keystone book of Christianity with which Quakers claim affiliation.
How is it going?, cool - so long.
Schmitt's "trinity" is the very evil the Founders fought against. Good for Nazi Germany and fascism.
I appreciate this presentation. My only request is that when human history is closed off from the public, it no longer carries credibility to say throw away lines like you are protecting it for future generations. That's not honest. You are protecting it as a privilege for the establishment. Let's just be honest, the public will never learn anything about these sites except what the powered establishment decide. Best interest of humanity is b.s. , saying the chemistry of the cave is changing due to specific factors is acceptable. But do not be dishonest. It's like African art in European museums. It's dishonest to say you are maintaining it for Africans. All the same kind of patriarchal logic.
You can't ask people to see science and ignore patriarchal reasoning from science. Just think about it, it's colonialism holding on and detracts from an otherwise good and reasonable interpretation of the works.
God bless you✝
Bless you✝
Great moment that I missed
The critical issues facing Christianity in today’s secular, diverse, and post-modern world are to ask if the following are essential to the permeation of the ideas, values, and the life of the faith in society or a hindrance: (1) Institutional religion. Can’t the thought, values, and life of the Christian faith survive without institutions? Should everyone who seeks to be influenced by the ideas of the faith attend ‘church’ and convert to it? Are rites and rituals necessary? Aren’t there more important matters essential to being a Christian than rites, rituals, sacred buildings and denominations? (2) Dogma. Given that dogmatic religion is man-made and since the Christian fold today is already immensely diverse and conflicting doctrinally, wouldn’t it be better for Christians to renounce dogmatism and fundamentalism and emphasize the importance of all humanity embracing the ideas and experiences of the faith as people in their myriad formations and contexts ‘subjectively’ understand them? The metaphors of salt and light best describe Christian identity in the world. Salt and light are best known by their effects (saltiness and light/brightness). Their opposites are lack of saltiness (bland and insipid) and darkness respectively. Similarly Christian identity must be known not for its threatening, domineering, and separatist institutions and hurt inducing dogmas, both of which the secular world bitterly hates, keeps away from, and seeks to kill, but for its relevant, influential, and enduring ideas, values, and life. Just as for salt and light the critical issue (preoccupation) isn’t the context they permeate, but the exceptional quality of what they have to offer the context, so also must Christians be occupied with not what the world is up to, but instead the ideas, values, and life Christians must be convinced the world needs and which Christians must effectively deliver. What is happening we are not seeing anything
You are right about Schmitt. However totally wrong about HK. It is much better off now than under the yolk of the British colonial law. In fact in 2023 HK has tomatoes and lettuce and a health care system that works. HK has no strikes. Even the Academy in the UK are on rolling strikes. China is not part of the Holy Sea or even part of Christendom or Islam. The Uighur terrorists killed scores of Chinese in bloody mass knife attacks in Guangzhou and Kunming as well as killing hundreds in Xinjiang. America went to war for 20 years for an attack on its homeland and killed hundreds of thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan. Who has the high moral ground here? The failed American Crusade to convert the Iraqis and Afghans or the Chinese who are smart enough to know that madrassas make terrorists, thus keep the kids out of madrassas and teach them a trade. In fact the Afghans are working with China to rebuild there country which has been destroyed by Christian NATO. I think you should become a mission for Confucianism with Schmittian Democracy that allows Christianity if it does not infringe on sovereignty. The moment Christianity infringes on sovereignty it becomes the enemy. Remember what Jesus said. Render unto Caeser that which is Caesar’s. This is a Schmittian rule of law for peace and security for Christians in a state that allows them to prey to God but not to determine policy.
That was excellent. I want more! To the person's question at the end about practicality, I think also, every people lose their way. They forget who they are. In the example of Bangladesh, or any people, who abuse the planet or people, they are not being who they are supposed to be. Again, emphasizing the speaker's point about him being a diaspora, not having the connection to his people. Whether this bc of distance or even colonialization, it's interesting that the diaspora might be the ones who return and bring back traditions.
Thanks for the Video!! Very Interesting!!
we are always reevaluating and redefining
Why does he call state-ists stat-ists? It sounds so wrong
I would be intersted how Roland Boer would comment this point of view since he has been critic of western scholars trying to use this kind of "western modern labels" to name phenomenas in PRC.

I was a missionary for a one year project in South América, Radical Latino under the leadership of Analzira. It is interesting how the thesis of " alteridade" is basically a subtle acusation against europeans and reformed theology. I trusted the JMM thinking they Would provide me with tools to make an evangelistic difference in the World... The opposite happened. Sociology, psicology, marketing techniques to raise financial support are not what the gospel is about. Martyn Lloyd Jones, Charles Spurgeon, Eric Lidel are turning in their graves at this Kind of accusations. The strategy is clear: they create a sense of guilt to ask for money and preminence.
Can I have Ron George's email address?
Thank you so much Barakatullo for this lecture.
