The saddest part? Radiator Springs is realistic in terms of its story. This happened to so many towns along Route 66 when they built the interstate(s). Tons of people lost their livelihoods and had to move. The way this song plays during the movie is so well timed.

When I got my drivers license this scene and the song made so much more sense. As much as I love the highway for its convenience and efficiency, there’s still something mythical and beautiful about driving through the countryside and past old towns and fields.
In West Virginia, these little towns are everywhere. Places left behind, given all they can and forgotten, by all but the people still there, as forgotten as they may be, too.
im here on the 18th anniversary of this movie. this is my favorite movie of all time. i remember when my dad took me to blockbuster long before it shut down and played this movie for me. i watched it so many times that i had every scene memorized and recreated everything with my toys. this song reminds me of how much my life has changed, how the times have changed. im really thankful i got to experience this. i love my dad.
I remembered tearing up to this song. I remembered. And I saw how times changed. And now I grew to hate it but I learned to get along with it as if I had loved it. How everything changes. And now this song is a reminder of good the times before was before it was gone. Forever. Never to return.
Amazing songwriting by David Greenwalt, fantastic performance by Christian Kane. I mean, Lindsay -- who knew? Thanks for putting up the lyrics, but there's one small correction you might make. After "She is like a golden ring," the next line should begin with "circles" instead of "settles." Give it another listen and see if you agree.
