CAM Challenge 2020 - Run #4
Переглядів 224 роки тому
One of my two best runs of the weekend, with a 51.96 ( 1). I know, cones are bad. But A, I can't figure out where I hit one; never felt/heard one during the run, either. And B, it's still good to review this and figure out what I did differently to shave off a couple tenths from my clean runs.
CAM Challenge Peru 2019 - Qualifying

This was my third and final qualifying lap for the CAM Challenge on Sunday. It was also my best run of the weekend, with a raw time of 48.421. I'm hoping to do kind of a walk-around of the car, because a lot has changed. But here's a breakdown: 1992 Mustang LX, convertible H&R Super Race springs Monroe Gas-matic shocks/struts 2003 Cobra front brakes Hawk pads (autocross blend) Stainless braided...

DK's #HoonigansWanted
Переглядів 1006 років тому
While hanging out the other night, Daniel jumped in and did his own, 100% off the cuff Hoonigans Wanted video. I'm not sure if this will even be entered, but I uploaded it simply for kicks and giggles. PS- pardon my open mouth stare, I legit had no idea he was going to do that and it took me a little off guard lol

It’s been a few weeks since my last post. I was in the process of making a video and the Graphics Card on my laptop pooped out in the middle of editing. Great times. So, it’s mostly been explained in the video, but here’s the gist of what I’ve been up to: Some truck updates, like a fan, ordered an external waste gate, fixed a major boost leak, changed from 191 delivery valves to 181 stock deliv...
Compound Turbo Fummins, Why it SUCKS
Переглядів 1,5 тис.6 років тому
Last week I picked up an electric fan for the Fummins, installed a new freeze plug behind the cam and for the oil galley, and reinstalled the bell housing and starter. Along the way, I show you why a compound turbo setup is so difficult to make in a Fummins swap.

Only took me 14 years to find this.
The driving looks fun. The memory test not so much😂

Yep been having it happened to me since Bill Gates started playing with Microsoft over the last year to making all these changes with Google even the new Windows 10 update would cause you to put a chip into your computer and it would automatically corrupt it trying to get you to delete your files there's a reason why they're doing this but not because of car videos because of people recording stuff and uploading things from years ago proving what's going on in the world so that's what the update was about silencing people posting about what's going on in the world so when someone has videos on their phone that may be a UA-cam video that you downloaded into an SD card which I used to do but say UA-cam rips the video down it's not allowed I can put my SD card back in my phone and reload the video and pass it around when UA-cam and Facebook already took the video down so it's pretty much when they scrub a video and don't want it on the Internet or media no more you could have an old SD card sitting from 2016 with proof of video that they removed from platforms so there new updates for sneaky interrupting people that study cards and taking their files automatically away there is a way to recover files Go on UA-cam and look up how to recover it an SD card I fix a corrupted SD card
Yeah. So, can't tell if you're a bot or not. But it definitely had nothing to do with Bill Gates, Microsoft, Google, or the government trying to "silence" my shitty racing videos. It had everything to do with the fact that I had bought a counterfeit SD card, didn't know it, and the card was complete trash and corrupted anything on it. I bought a new, non-counterfeit card, and all my problems were solved.
Too much talking and hardly any look at the fox. And bone stock??? Yeah I guess you think we're idiots
Listen, if you came here, expecting a low miles, entirely original Mustang in good shape, you came to the wrong place.
You talk too much 💩💩
Did you build the compound turbo kit or did you buy the kit from somewhere?
I built it myself.
@@j3ffsqrtan are you using stock exhaust manifold? What turbos are you using?
@@jtaglane stock 12 valve manifold, stock HE351CW turbo, and an S475 with the 1.32ar housing.
@@j3ffsqrtan Diid you make the hot pipe to connect the 2 turbos?
@@jtaglane yes I did.
The only had 225 horsepower stock
Did you do the whole swap or a shop do it? If you did it i have a few questions if you would
I did the whole swap. Feel free to ask away and I'll answer what I can!
@@j3ffsqrtan 1 did you use the factory ford peddle so the 5r110 stayed happy if so what kind of bracket did you build? 2 when swaping why did you chose not to slide the engine and trans back to fit a mechanical fan? 3 about how long in hours did it take? 4 the sensors for the cummins did you splice or use some that where in a kit?
@@timallred6789 1 - I did use the factory Ford pedal. It's one of the adjustable pedals. I bought a bracket kit from Diesel Conversion Specialists. 2 - moving the engine/trans back meant I'd have to have the rear driveshaft shortened and possibly have the front shaft lengthened. I didn't want to spend the money on that, nor did I really have the time to mess with it, so I left it as is. Honestly, I run two electric fans now. One for the engine - a 14 inch puller from GC Cooling. One for the AC - 12 inch Jegs pusher fan. My truck has only tried to over heat on me twice, both times were extended stop and go traffic (like an hour) without any fans running. With fans running, has never over heated. I don't like mechanical fans and think, for my application, they are worthless. 3 - I couldn't tell ya. I spent several months doing the swap, but largely because of waiting on money and time spent building the compound turbo setup. I'm not a mechanic/fabricator by trade, so things can take a little longer for me. That turbo setup alone probably took two months just because I lost motivation a few times. If you went single turbo, had all the parts ready, and a good friend to help, I think it could be done in a couple of weekends. But that's with a couple months or more of planning and research. Lots of little things can be missed. 4 - I bought a conversion harness from Diesel Conversion Specialists. They sent me a list of what was needed to do the wiring when I bought their engine mount/adapter kit. By the time I was ready for wiring, I didn't really have the time or energy to do it myself. I'm happy with the harness I received and think it was money well spent, but if I ever do another one I'd like to do the wiring myself. I don't think it's that complicated.
@@j3ffsqrtan ok thank you for your time if i have any more questions ill ask have a good rest of your day
@@j3ffsqrtan btw do you remember what part num. The peddle was
agonizing, sorry
That was AWESOME! Looks like a ton of fun!
Curious as to why you repaired the rust on the wheel side vs the engine bay side like all the other vids I’ve seen. Is there rot on the other side?
I guess that's just where my rust was. That's probably the only explanation I can give. I didn't have any rust on the engine side other than what I cut out of the shock tower.
Advice for future welding. Your welds Aren’t horrible but your pulling the weld instead of pushing. For a cleaner and flatter weld that will sit in the seams push it.
Thank you!
Hey great vid on the welding! Foxbody for Life!!!
alright, so now my 95 YJ is making this sound, did anyone find the result?
I never got to fix mine before they decided to junk the Jeep entirely (for other reasons). Supposedly, someone looked at it and found a crack either in the head or in the intake manifold. I'm not sure which. Considering the cost, I'd start with a new intake manifold. That was my plan prior to them junking it. Good luck with it and if you get yours figured out, let me know here!
Where was that connector being disconnected doing? Because I have the same connector disconnected on mine and it will crank and crank, but will not start. Is that my issue?
The connector was a few inches from the battery. It's a cylindrical connector. If you trace one of the smaller ground wires from the battery ground, you should be able to find it.
Never guide the slide forward easily. Let it drop.
Yeah, normally that's not how I cycle a first round. It's been awhile since I made this video, but I believe that I was doing that because I wanted to make sure that everything was feeding properly. I am happy to report that I've put around 800 more rounds through that gun and not had any issues with it.
@@j3ffsqrtan no worries man, i just got a tac ultra fs 10mm and i love it but its still in its braking in period.
Did you figure out what was causing the noise? I currently have the same problem
Oscar Reyes yes I did. One of the brake shoes on the driver side rear brake was dragging and it would pull on the brake cable with each rotation. Then the cable would hit the inside of my wheel.
how happy are ya with it? How is it for towing? I've go ta spare HE351cw laying around for a future build on my import car but im getting a 2000 cummins in 2 days and I plan to do a lot of highway towing with it. So far i've found the $160 downpipe ya need to get but what about the charge side and intake to the compressor housing?
Zeek sheparzo I only had that turbo on the truck for a couple months. I immediately built a compound turbo setup with an s475. Which is on my Fummins. Compound setup tows well though lol
jeffsqartan I'm sure it does! Lmao. But how'd it compare to the hx35?
Zeek sheparzo it definitely felt better, but I had issues getting the wastegate properly set. I should have bought one of the spring gates from Crazy Carl's.
jeffsqartan is that one of those spring set ups where it's just a mount and like a 6mm thick coil spring ? If so I already have one 😅 so that's good news
Zeek sheparzo yup that sounds about right! Oh, for cold side stuff, someone makes a charge boot that is supposed to work. Personally, I made my own piping. I get my boots from siliconeintakes.com. As long as you don't have any 90* bends, you probably won't have issues. If you need a 90*, buy some Mandrel bent tubing and use straight or 45* boots to get things connected.
Had to do exact same on passenger side of my 87 welded plated etc...just finished doing the floorpans rockers etc...started scraping away undercoating and found more metal work! Lol cool channel ill subscribe i love these cars
Thanks! Actually just got the car out for the first autocross event today. Ran pretty well! Video should be up in the next day or two.
jeffsqartan very cool man what kind of welder were you using? Welds looked alot better than my fluxcore but its strong not pretty lol
Your Flooring it's just an entry model Hobart welder. Dad bought it a few years back, never uses it, but I keep finding projects for it so I supply the gas and material and he let's me store it and use it here. Works out for us both haha
jeffsqartan sweeet
I know this is a older post but, My 1997 TJ 2.5 4cyl. had started doing this off and on. I do know it is vacuum problem because when i sprayed wd-40 on and around intake manifold it stopped. I will report my findings and how i fixed the problem. I hope this will help someone else.
Feel free to post your findings. We think that the head was cracked. Unfortunately, this Jeep was scrapped earlier last year. Good luck in finding the solution!
mines doing the same thing! 347777 miles. 2nd is loud as hell! going to pull it this weekend.
Yeah, it was a small hole on the back side of an intercooler boot. The hole didn't go all the way through, it was the outer layer of rubber that was peeled away, letting some air slip out and cause the weird kazoo whistle.
jeffsqartan having the same issue, leak test today.
did you ever find out what the whistle was? mine does the same thing.
did you rebuild yourself or a shop? mines doing the same thing and I have some questions if your available
I had a shop rebuild it. What questions do you have?
+j3ffsqrtan I have a video of the noise mine is making but mine does it in neutral and 3rd. while in gear it's louder. matches the speed of the motor. gets longer and faster with more rpm
+cummins88smokin it could be something with the input shaft. I decided to just pull mine and take it to a local shop. I figured either way there was something wrong and it would have to be pulled. My advice, pull it sooner rather than later.
+j3ffsqrtan yeah I stopped driving it I have it parked now.
+cummins88smokin if you can pull it yourself, that's the way to go. Will easily save you $200 or more. I can pull mine in about 1.5 hours and put it back in just as fast, if not faster. Expect to spend 2 hours both ways if you haven't done it before.
For anyone wondering what the issue was, third gear was missing two teeth.
What manifold are you running? What numbers are you seeing boost and pyro with that turbo? Looking to put one on my 01' and just wondering
Did you ever find d this whistle? I have the same problem right now
my twelve valve did the same thing when i bumped the timing but not under a load.
