Life with a Steam Deck.
Having a family, work and renovating/running a homestead life has left little spacing for gaming let alone streaming. To adapt I've invested in a Steam Deck and will share my journey and experience with a Steam Deck. Expect reviews on games played on the Steam Deck and how they compare to the PC.

Steam Deck : Last Epoch on Deck Game Review
Last Epoch on the Steam Deck - A review video briefly looking at the game but more concerned with how it plays on the Steam Deck, Steam linked from PC to Deck and plays on the TV at home. The game has an online and fully offline mode and is most definitely a contender for games like Diablo 4 and Path of Exile.

I had some serious frame rate drop and lag issues when Steam Linking at home from my game PC to my Steam Deck when Playing Last Epoch . Not matter what Remote play settings I changed nothing seemed to work. However going in to desktop mode on my Steam Deck soloved the problem. I have a 5ghz wifi at home and didn't want to use a RJ45 adapter as I want to be wireless. The desktop mode on the stea...
Steam Deck OLED 1TB unboxing - Welcome to Steam Decked -
Переглядів 6224 місяці тому
Welcome to Steam Decked a new channel dedicated to life on a steam deck. Life has many changes and a with 2 boys, a wife, homestead and full time employment gaming has taken a back seat. My solution has been to invest in a Steam Deck so I’m able to take some time out and game in between everything else. I plan to share my portal journey and share the games I play on decked life over PC. If you ...
Is anyone else getting consistent issues with this? Like my resolution is messed up so top and bottom of screen are cut off and controller doesn’t work unless I don’t force compatibility through proton
I found the game was more stable running in desktop mode. Have you tried this? I’ve only used keyboard and mouse as a controller instead of the deck controllers
@@SteamDecked I got it working like that for about an hour last night but then kept facing hard crashes, I think I might wait on full steam deck support for this one unfortunately
I get consistent crashes on my steam deck oled
Drop your fps to 40. It does do well running at max
I have found a post on protonDB and I found out that you can install CryoUtilities and can actually play without crashes. The frames dips below 40 in few areas, but it's solid all around to play
Tried playing this on a controller and the control schemes are a mess. The items that drop are labeled, went to pick up the item. It picked up the label above the item. It became stuck on my screen. The characters wont aim the way you point them. I tried a few different control schemes players made, none worked right.
I’ve only used the Steam Deck as a controller. And while pickling up items isn’t as easy as say D4 I didn’t have an issue. Maybe cause I was using the track pad on the deck to get more precision. Curiously which controller were you using?
@@SteamDecked I play in docked mode with an 8Bitdo controller that basically has the same button layout as an X Box controller. This game was so broken when I tried playing it I refunded it. When I see an item labeled "boots" on the ground, and I go to pick them up, and it doesn't, but instead picks up the word "boots", I've seen enough.
Use d pad to choose item to pick up also right joystick can move the cursor
Game ain't broken lol issues are with you. I played smoothly on my deck 😊😊@@FidelCashflow_YT
Itemization is like diablo 2? Ty in advance mate
If you mean like d2 as in takes years to achieve optimal builds and once you find/trade for a SOJ you are good forever then no, itemization is NOT like d2. Its more like d4/poe
I think it’s more the choice of builds via items than being piegeohold with set bonuses and specific class based cookie cutter builds much like we saw in d3
Is it worth it if I want to play this type of game fully offline ?
If you don’t intend to play with others yes. You’ll bypass all the latency issues too and just enjoy the game. It why imo the game is better than D4 for portable devices
I am looking for something similar to Path of Exile, but not as complex. Is this that type of game and is it possible to also make a summon build? Thanks for showing how it runs on the Deck and workarounds if it struggled. Plus the ability to play it in offline mode is something I didn't know about (can be annoying to play online all the time).
Last Epoch is exactly that type of game and a good one as well. I would say it's not as in depth and as complex as POE but it does offer a lot of variety. There's plenty of builds on the web if you like guides to follow but you shoud be able to navigate your own builds with the tool tips in game if you like a good theory crafting session. Regarding summoning you can go down the necro route and summon an undead army or you can go Beastmaster with wolves. lots of variation. Finally offline mode on the steam deck is a prerry crucial factor if you plan to take your Deck away from an interenet connection or if you connection goes in and out. I'm currently playing Diablo 4 and while it plays great on deck the biggest failing of that game is not having an offline mode and will impact massivly on my scoring on my review which is coming soon. With regards to Last Epoch and offline/online, if you don't care much for online play you would get a better experience playing offline. You can change online and offline at any point but you can't move characters between the two.
@SteamDecked Okay, thanks, I do like wolf companions, so this is a great fit. Will wait for pay day to see to get it and maybe it's on sale.
Try Grim Dawn
Bash build.? 😊
The bash build is strong 😉
Great review. Just bought an OLED model. Not sure when it’ll arrive. Looking forward to more of these.
You still waiting?! When did you order it?
Looks like a cool game. Never heard of it.
It’s an action RPG, similar to Diablo and Path of Exile. I think it’ll be my first review for Steam Deck.
Great. Looking forward to hearing more.
Welcome, have you got a steam deck or are you considering one?
@@SteamDeckedjust ordered a 1TB OLED model last night. Hoping to get it within a week or so. A YT channel dedicated to the deck is just what I need.
i wish you all the best with your new steam deck and channel. i have a video idea for you. can you make a comprehensive (including both triple a and indie games with unlocked framerate) 1440p high refresh rate docked gaming test?
That sounds like a great idea. I could also add to the mix streaming from my gaming PC to the deck, docked too as comparitive performance. I have a 1440p monitor that would do. No 4k yet :( Any AAA games you have in mind?
@@SteamDecked newer titles like cyberpunk won't run good at 1440p, so it will be better to try some older titles like bioshock infinite and tomb raider. newer titles like diablo 4 might be playable at 1440p though. not sure if it counts as triple a but you can also try ori and the will of the wisps.
I actually got a 1 tb steam deck oled recently! Still waiting for it to arrive lol cant wait to watch more videos from you
nice one. Mine too a bit longer to arrive but only by a couple of days. What's the first game you're going to play?
@@SteamDecked Probably Fallout 4!
Can relate. The deck makes it easier to fit gaming into a busy schedule
Did you take a while setting up the deck and getting used to the controls or were you straight in to it?
@@SteamDecked only for games without controller support and games I wanted to mod. I spend a few minutes setting up steam input for other games like first person shooters so I can use the motion controls and trackpads. The ergonomics and controls are very user friendly and probably the best on the market
