I have been asked to do more pinstriping in actual speed, so here it is. A traditional pinstriping design that I did a while back just at regular speed.

A quick demonstration of how using a scrolling brush over a dagger brush is a great choice for pinstriping designs.

What are you pinstriping on and where can the panels be purchased? Thanks in advance!
Hey, thanks for watching! I have a friend who works in a sheet metal shop and saves me the off cuts and scrap. Old hand saws work well as well.
Where do you get the panels to paint on?
I will paint on anything that paint will stick to. I have a friend who works in a sheet metal shop and he saves me the off cuts. Also I stop at the local second hand store and find celling fan blades and other items that have the proper shape. I’ve painted toilet seats, mail boxes and hand saws to name a few.
What type of paint, materials and surface you use ?
I prefer to paint on metal panels, but will just about paint anything I can get paint to stick to.
Do you use a scrolling brush for everything or do you use a sword style also?
I have used sword/dagger brushes in the past. I really like Xcalibur brushes but have used the scrollers for quite sometime now. The Drag’n fly brushes have changed things drastically for my art.
@ I was using the Kafka #3 scroller I liked it, I recently changed to the Mack series 10 and forcing myself to learn that brush
@ I’ve used the Mack series ten in the past, but after I used an Xcalibur I was more impressed with them. They’re a little shorter than the series 10. Try one out sometime, I think you may be impressed.
@ I will order one up and give it a try
@ ten four, let me know how you feel about it.
AWSOME
Thanks Mike! Much appreciated!
Nice work. Dragn fly I guess.
These brushes are my favourite! Let me know how you make out with it. Thanks for watching!
Fantastic. I have this brush. I will give it a whirl tomorrow. 👍👍👍
No sound on this one?
What medium of paint are you using?
I use One shot lettering enamel and Alpha6 enamels.
Great work, where did you get that stand?
Thanks, I appreciate you saying that. As for the stand…. I found an old surgeons chair in a scrap bin years ago and used the arm rests coupled together to make this fully adjustable easel. I made a video about if you want to have a look.
@@PinstriperDave I need to check out the video. I’m just getting started and I’m looking for an adjust easel
@@samporazzo2178 it’s called Rig rundown.
Looking forward to driving past this daily Dave. It will compliment your uncle’s nicely!
As beautiful as the mailbox you did for us… such an amazing talent Dave
Thank you Claire, I had fun paint these ones as as well as yours.
Love it Dave, great colour choices 😊
THANKS FOR THE REAL TIME VIDEO DAVE ,IM GONNA SAVE IT SO I CAN WATCH IT AGAIN LATER, BEAUTIFUL WORK
That’s great Mike, there were only a few folks asking to see it in that speed so it was kinda like I was doing just for you guys. I’ll see how it turns out and do more while my shop is packed up and being moved.
Keep laying down those lines!
Amazing!!
GREAT WORK AS ALWAYS. THANK YOU , CAN YOU DO SOME MORE REAL TIME
Glad you liked that. I should go through and redo some of my old ones in real time.
Nice looking work as usual but I am wondering where do you get all the fan blades?
I’ll paint on anything that paint will stick to. I saw a bunch of fan blades at the local 2nd hand store and thought they were the right shape for my designs. Grabbed as many as they had.
i learn something new with every video i watch thank you
That makes me happy Mike! Thank you.
Your videos have helped me with some difficulties I was having with lettering. Thank you
You are so welcome! It makes it all seem worth it to makes these! Th more I watch your videos, the more I think we're cut from the same cloth.
@PinstriperDave i appreciate that man! I was taught how to pinstripe, but lettering and sign stuff I'm self teaching..
Awesome work Man. You got a great skill. Pleasure to watch
Thanks uncle Todd!
Nice, but do these videos have to be sped up? New strippers can get a feel for the actual speed and palleting of your brush
I’ll do some in real time, I’m just worried people will lose interest.
Just keeps getting better!
fuckin dope mate!
I love watching you letter.
Number 1, as usual.
Maestro!!! Excelente control del pincel👌👍
What does DIRT stand for? 👋🤓
I used to work a lot of dirty jobs, so I was always in dirty clothes. Plus it’s fun to say I got a little dirt in the paint.
I am so pleased that you have done this part 2, it is so useful. Many Thanks Chris.
I’m glad you enjoyed it, I spent years watching my mentor paint things and was always so fascinated by it. Much appreciation , thanks for reaching out to me.
Im glad I found your channel, ive been trying to work on my lettering for a while and have kinda hit a wall.
I’m happy to hear that you haven’t gave up. Stick with it as it does take time. There’s lots of tricks to help you along the way and I’ll do my best to help out where I can. Thanks for your support.
@PinstriperDave i subbed for script content. My line work is pretty good but I've always struggled with lettering. I'm starting to lean more into sign painting though so I've been working with letters a lot more recently.
Keep up the good work, I’ve subbed to your channel as well.
@@PinstriperDave thank you!
Your script is awesome!
No idea why the algorithm brought you to my front page, but glad of it. Always nice to see a craftsman and artist doing good work well.
Thank you so much, glad you’ve found my page.
Hoping this is a move for the best and a fast return.
Good luck on your move!
Thanks
Always a master!
Truly a compliment coming from a man of your ability! Thank you Seppo!
Nice, nice looking work. Thanks
Thanks 👍
Smooth
What do you reduce your paint with?
I have used one shot high temp reducer in the past but at the moment I’ve been using alpha6 products.
Fantastic, when is the next episode? Really like your style of script, unique.
Not sure yet, but I’ll work on it.
Yeah it can be tricky sometines lettering from the 'Sinister' side of the dipper, if I'm working 'Hand over Hand' I go from back to front, with a Mahl Stick or top pole I start at conventional end. Nice Demo.
Thanks for watching, It's been real nice hearing from other sign writers. All the ones I used to know have all passed on.
Ĺove this one Dave. The instructions on how to approach each letter. Nice. In a world of digital, this is awesome.
Thanks uncle Todd!
Thankyou! What do you usually coat your panels with before striping on them?
It depends what the board is made of, but I will just base coat with whatever paint I have around. If you know someone at a sheet metal shop you could see if they’ll save you the off cuts. Thin gauge metal works well and it’s usually pre painted.
Appreciate the detailed info. Now, if you could just do a demo of you Upper and lower case script. Really enjoy your presentations.
Thanks, will do!
Awesomeness
I knew you’d like that one!
Nice job merci beaucoup form a neighbor 🇨🇦
Merci mon ami!
Amazing work! What is the board/canvas you are painting on? Thanks
It’s a cellulose sign board I get from my friend’s sign shop. He saves me the off cuts that he has no use for. Usually I paint on steel so my magnetic easel will work with them.
As someone who is learning, I appreciate you putting the brushes up there. Thank you!
I appreciate that you’re learning this art form. I promised my mentor I’d do my part to keep it alive. Paint everything!
You're a brush box.
Sir your talent is amazing!
Thank you so much 😀
Your lettering script is beautiful! Thank you so much for your videos. And, also for telling what brush and paint you are using! Amazing work!
You are so welcome!
