I'll try and catch up with your other videos just in case but videos (and those maps!) Would be really great - just film all the non-Gundam mecha kits very slowly with price tickets in focus!

    I have only just found your channel and have subscribed. This video is great and gives a lot of information for model makers in other countries. Do you know if any of the shops you mentioned, or any others have websites and will post to England, the United Kingdom ? Japenese modellers have access to tools that modellers in other countries cannot get hold of, so I would like to search for such items on websites, so could you do a video about the best shops who do mail orders to other countries please, listing their website details ? Also, could you do a video showing examples of tools available that are unique or very selective in their use please ? Thank you.

    You can buy very cheap Chinese one sided nippers. The blade being one sided gives you 75% of the performance. Sharpening the cutting edge gets you pretty damn close without paying the godhand premium. Its a bit of a hassle to get the edge geometry with the blade being so small and with the other end being in the way but not really hard to do. Personally, my preference is to buy the cheapest single sided nipper possible and just sharpen it regularly. It's not as good as a new godhand but compares favourably with a"broken in" one. IMHO the godhand's biggest advantages are also its biggest weaknesses. A more aggressive, thinner edge geometry makes it sharper but also means it wears out more quickly and is harder to maintain than a more obtuse one. A hard, high carbon contetpnt tool steel (it's 58 HRC) keeps the edge nice and hard, but also makes it harder to sharpen - which is a bummer given how difficult it is to sharpen nippers in the first place.

    • @pla-v.scalemodel
      @pla-v.scalemodel 6 місяців тому

      Yes, you are right. So, in general, I use a combination of nippers. The cheap one for the thick hinge, Godhand for the detail work.😏

    The only thing you should be wary of the Godhand is don’t drop it, because the thin blade is more prone to chipping. Nobody ever plan of dropping anything expensive but it will happen, so treat it like a baby and not an expensive smartphone.

      Don't know if you have visited yet, but there is a little device called a "Universal Translator", and it activity speaks another language for you ! It is fairly cheap for the technology involved (£70 - £75), looks like a microphone, and can translate between any of the 70 languages that is already programmed in to it. Other languages are available to buy as expansion packs. It is very easy to use - you just click on the flag of the language that you speak, and then click on the language you want it translated into. You then speak the message into the device, and it then speaks the translated phrase out loud to the person you want to speak to. The other person then replies and that message is translated back to your language and thus a full conversation can be had. Simples ! I have used mine on 4 trips abroad and now and would not travel without it. It's been invaluable, especially in shops and markets where you really need to understand what is going on quite quickly. I hope this helps you in some way, and you do not mind me sending this message to try and help you ?

    Not gonna lie, I winced internally when the GodHand was used on the 3mm runner piece. It's a great finishing cutter for cleaning up gate nubs and when the gate is just too narrow or the part is too fine (some Little Armory, RG Gunpla or aircraft antennae come to mind), but I'd rather use a Tamiya sharp pointed (not the Alpha side cutter shown in the video) to make that first cut or for super thick gates.

    • @pla-v.scalemodel
      @pla-v.scalemodel 3 роки тому

      Yes, this is also the way I do. The Godhand nipper is not suitable for the thick runners. So, I use a Tamiya nipper to do the first rough cut and finish the cut with a Godhand at last.
