wow im going out for the sour kangaroo and this disgusted me. I feel like I just went back in time.
Let's take a moment to stop complaining and to notice Yertle the Turtle in the background. XD 3:18 thenjust keep watching
I think they couldve made the kangaroo white.....like was it necessary to paint her face brown??
LOL Love that scene!
@madelynpritchett I'm African-American and to be honest I was appalled at the fact that you were in "black face" but then i realized that it was just apart of the character you were playing in this show and it was just a realistic take characteristic of your part. The sour kangaroo is purple but I understand that the make-up department/director felt that it was necessary to have the kangaroo be light brown since thats the color of a kangaroo. Sure the director should've played it safe by not painting your face brown for the sake of it being misinterpreted but it's just a live and learn situation. You still sung the crap out of that song and did a beautiful job performing that song!
Um... Blackface is illegal.
THE SOUR KANGROO WAS WAY TOO FAST
the wicks are freaking sexy
Seems too fast and costumes are a bit weird but singing is good
Lol the kangaroo's feet are white
those were the best wickershams I've seen on youtube, singing wise.
I am Mayzie!:)
Does that mean the zebra's white and black face paint is racist? Its just for the costume and not to be taken in a racist manor. I guarantee that the majority of the people who liked that comment didn't want to seem like a racist. Before you comment, use the old expression, "Think before you speak."
Im a Wickersham brother
OMG! Listen to those screams!
Haha have to learn Marian's part for choir XD
That sour kangroo is annoying
I am a panther jungle animal in the performance we are doing at school
I was the Sour Kangaroo and they painted my face orange...
I have my schools entire performance of Seussical the Musical on my channel. Our show was fantastic so please check it out!
Way tooooo fast better at my school
the bird girls were good, i also like the render distance and the definition
It was good speed ppl
Too fast
WAY TOO FAST
the sour kangaroo is purple...
Cover up, Wickershams.
im playing her!
Madelyn Lawrence OMG SAME! I'M SO NERVOUS!
SAME
Same!!!
I wish I could show everyone how not "black" my face is. It's light brown, like a kangaroo is.Light enough that you can see the black whiskers on my face. It looks darker from far away I guess. I don't understand how people could think we were intentionally being "offensive". The make-up was done by high school students for a high school performance. It wasn't meant to hurt anyone's feelings or offend them in any way.
not something offensive is that too much to ask...
The sour kangaroos voice was good but their are a few parts where she could have added so much more sass to her performance! Otherwise you guys killed it! The bird girls can actually sing extremely well!!!!
My college is doing this show and I'm doing Sour Kangaroo and this is too fast just sayin and we've broke it down and had it at regular tempo
I can't believe so many people are offended by my face!! Lol It was more brown in person, ya know, like a kangaroo should be. Geez people, it's a high school musical, what do you want???
its supposed to be faster than the recording
Why's the elephant in camo?
You have no idea how happy I am to find a girl Cat in the Hat! I'm trying out for the Cat in about a month. Great video!
They painted everyone's face to match the costumes, it's not racist, or offensive, or anything of the sort.
This is amazing. And it's innocent. So everyone needs to chill.
too fast...
Yea but this one is too fast
Way too fast
I don't think so at all. I think it is ridiculous to be offended by this. Any principal animal character is painted a color to match their animal so they can be the animal- yertle the turtle is green, for example. Why should painting a kangaroo's face dark brown to be a kangaroo be off limits simply because black face existed in the past? It is *not* extremely appalling and not offensive.
I don't understand why this video is rated so badly... Watch some of the Seussical videos... The are a lot worse.
Horton reminds me of sheldon from the big bang theory...
I saw my school perform this musical this year and loved the parts where our kangaroo sang but this kangaroo has a voice no joke... except that face paint seems so offensive haha
@itsagleekthing Being a part of this production (I'm one of the Wickershams), I can say that the intention with the face paint on Sour Kangaroo was no different from the face paint used on any other cast member: animal fur color matching. It was never meant to be blackface. @mochamegan123 That's the way she always sang, regardless of context. If anything, it's racist to assume anyone who talks like that (even as a character) is trying to use a "black accent."
@itsagleekthing yeah and her using a black accent.... its like wow really?
