My FIRST TIME Ice Camping in a TENT

With the warm weather and sketchy ice conditions this year, we haven't had an opportunity to use our new sleeper shack. I wanted to spend a night on the ice, so I broke out my Eskimo 350XD Outbreak to spend a night on the ice. I had to drag everything to the spot by hand, so it was a very minimalist setup. Even though I didn't have a bunch of fancy gear, I was comfortable all night! You don't n...

    • @wisconsinfishingadventures

      I usually throw a 3.5-4" plastic all year long! If the bite is tough in the spring, you can definitely downsize to a 2.5-3" plastic. I personally stick with the 4" plastics 99% of the time in hopes of targeting the bigger fish!

    Can you raise the trip up? I don't like how low the flag sits when it's set. If there was snow you wouldn't be able to see them. Also if there was wind and snow they will get buried and wont trip. I do like them pyramid tip ups though. All I fish is walleye and every tip up light I ever bought was junk. They might as well be responsible, they only work for one trip. I usually use a spot light.

    • @wisconsinfishingadventures
      @wisconsinfishingadventures 5 місяців тому

      I don't think you can adjust the trip height but I'll have to ask them! I've never had an issue seeing the flag when it's up, but whenit'ss down, it can be hard to see. I have the same issue with my beaver dam tip ups if theres a lot of snow at times, but they do sit a little higher. Those lighted tip ups are awesome. I like how they cover your hole to keep the snow, wind, and ice out. If it's really cold, your holes can still freeze some but not as bad as an open hole!

    These are cool tip ups, but I don't see how those ate any fast to setup, or take down then any other tip ups. Also the tip ups don't catch more fish it's the fisherman on where, and how they.set up their tip ups. Sorry just my opinion.

    • @wisconsinfishingadventures
      @wisconsinfishingadventures 5 місяців тому

      I think they're faster to move and set up because I can throw them in a bucket, and they never get tangled. There's no fumbling with where to put the hook or trying to get tangles undone! You're right that the tips up can't catch fish themselves, but having good gear makes it easier. Thanks for watching!

    You guys killed it. Nothing like catching hogs in Feb. I didn’t catch how deep you two were fishing. This year I put more walleye in the boat using Blade baits on the Des Moines river. I didn’t realize how effective they were at cold water river hogs. It’s January now and I’m just itching to get back out there. Good luck this year.

    • @wisconsinfishingadventures

      Thanks I appreciate that! We were fishing g about 14 feet of water that day. Generally I prefer to target walleyes in 18 feet of water or less all year long! Blade baits are incredible for big walleyes in cold water. If you like catching smallmouth they work great for them as well! Stay safe and tight lines 💪
