Repairing knitting machine plastics
Knitting machine plastics can become brittle with age and use - in this video I will show you how I repaired a plastic cover on the Brother 260 machine.

Could you make a video showing what the moving part with the handle looks like from below. I would like to see what parts i am missing🙏🙏
Hi there, could you clarify - are you asking about the carriage cover?
Thanks so much for posting this video. I've been looking for the pattern selector for a while and finally I've found one! Mine does not have the manual and I cannot find a copy of the manual for the pattern selector anywhere. I can work out how to use it but I'd really like a copy of the manual. You mention you have it in your video - would you be prepared to share a scanned copy? I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

I just posted a link for the manual. Let me know if you can access it
@@NiftyKnitting-qn2io Thank you so much, you are very kind. I have just downloaded the manual. I think this accessory is quite rare - at least it is in the UK. I'm missing the left extension plate but I can manage without it and I may try and find someone clever who can 3D print one for me based on the right one. I love this machine, I haven't touched my much more sophisticated brother machine since I got the Mod 250. Thanks again.
@@grantfoden-nj8ik the pattern selector is very rare! It is such a unique gadget! The 250 comes up fairly often on the auction sites. Once of them might come with the extension rails - you never know 😉
Hello! This is inspiring, thank you! You're not selling this machine are you?
Hi there! This machine is a good little thing. I owned two at one time but I did have to give them a new home. I don't have space to keep them all 😢 but the punchcard selector device is really special and hard to find. I do see these 250's for sale fairly often, if you are looking for one 😊😊😮
@@NiftyKnitting-qn2io Thank you very much! I'm in France and a newbie to knitting machines so my hunt is full of twists and turns... I think I've now identified an SK700 that I want, if the UK seller will ship here :-/ So then the selector becomes obsolete (as long as I've understood correctly?).
@@elsW123the sk700 has everything you need! 24 stitch punchcard and the built in knit radar. It's a great machine! The punchcard pattern selector device was specifically made for the 250, that was pre-punchcard days. But since then, machines started to have built in punchcard patterning functions. Definitely find a 700, you will love it 😊
@@NiftyKnitting-qn2io Thank you very much! I've been on a steep learning curve this week, being a pro weaver wanting to develop pro knitting quite quickly alongside; your video was a useful turning point in my learning and now I feel determined to source an sk700, just waiting for the UK vendor to approve shipping. Thanks again for your encouragement!
If you like weaving, I know of another rare device that incorporates weaving with the knitting machine. It was branded as the Weavemaster knitting attachment or Royal Loom knitting attachment. It's very difficult to find but there are people out there making amazing items with their loom attachments for their standard gauge machines. It will fit all standard gauges. Check it out!
