@@JarrodHorak I i was going to originally go with Saudi crown or locked, but i wanted a price. not a fan of the outside posts here but figure ken McPeek will have him ready and if there was something wrong with him after the Malibu he wouldn't run him. Taking a shot. If mystic Dan doesn't finish in the top three i wont ever bet him again.

@@markciessau7192 I would like to see Mystik Dan give a good account of himself. His Malibu effort was too bad to believe. He seems to be training well.

@@italianwaterice9594 Mystik Dan has really lost his way. He started declining after winning the Derby and has never recovered.

I have Patch Adams ranked quite high on my Derby list. I am rooting for him to run a quality race.

@@markciessau7192 It appears that Mystik Dan never recovered from running in all three Triple Crown races last year. It is a shame that he has lost his way.

My first instinct after the entries came out was to try to beat Gaming, but after looking at the field, I thought that his price might be fair due to the presence of Patch Adams. I do not know why Gaming flopped in the Los Al Futurity, but I am going to assume that he bounced after the BC. His recent workouts look energetic and I like the combination of the inside post and early-pressing versatility. Is he a Derby horse? I have no idea, but 1 1/6 miles in January should be fine. If he fails this test, they could always target sprints in the future. These early Derby preps are always fun because we are watching these horses grow and develop. Some will be sprinters, some will improve with added ground, and others will disappoint. Looking forward to Saturday's races across the country.

I was thinking the same thing. This Pegasus field is not the strongest.

I like Patch Adams. He is ranked #2 on my Derby list and we will learn more about him after this two turn stakes test.

Skippylongstocking has been a quality runner for a few years. Gaffalione will need to work out a trip from a tough outer post.

We have that knowledge down. If we could only get the riders to make our pre-race pace thoughts come to fruition.

This event does have the potential to have a nice payoff. There are no real standouts. We have horses trying to rediscover past glory and others trying to step up and hit a higher level. I did have success with some Pick 4's and pick 5's last week. I do not play them every day. I look for situations with vulnerable favorites and solid opinions. I am going to do Pick 4 and Pick 5 videos in the near future.

Saudi Crown could go all the way. I was a fan of his sire Always Dreaming. He was my Derby horse in 2017. Sad that we lost him way too soon. I agree that Locked should be a top horse in this division in 2025. They have plenty of options as well. If longer races do not agree with him, they could always target a race like the Met Mile.

The key to Jonathan's Way is relaxing at longer distances. He has a sprint oriented pedigree and will need to run a bit faster in upcoming Derby preps. His trainer was pleased with his effort in the Kentucky Jockey Club. He will go next in the Risen Star on Feb. 15 and we will learn more about his ability to handle longer distances at that time. He had a solid workout on Jan. 20 (nice gallop out). That was his third work this month.

Barnes is a promising colt. We will learn more about him when he tries two turns next time.

Good luck with the surface switcher in the Lecomte. He rates a look if he handles dirt.

@ Golden Afternoon could not have asked for a better trip. He just could not quite keep pace late. Good try at 25-1.

Sovereignty has been my top ranked Derby contender since I started my list last year. I am hoping that he develops into a top 3-year-old.

Aviator Gui had a small setback., He has not worked since the Dec. 7 Remsen and that is probably why he is not on the list. The Risen Star is still possible if they can get him back on the worktab soon.

Coal Battle's versatility has enabled him to adapt to different race shapes. These future wager pools are a fun way to take a small shot on horses that you like at this very early stage. Much will change in the coming weeks and months.

Races at Fair Grounds can be tough to decipher. Hope I have better luck than I did the last time they ran Derby and Oaks points races in New Orleans (Untapable and Gun Runner Stakes). Thanks for watching!

Good luck with your longshot play in the Lecomte. These young horses are still developing and multiple entrants are capable of jumping up and running a career best.

Built did go out there and steal it last time. I don't see him getting the same trip from a wide post in this large field. Magnitude should be forwardly placed. Maximum Promise is an interesting returnee.

I hope Golden Gamble comes through on Saturday. It would be cool if McPeek had another live Oaks contender this year.

He really does show up to all of the big events. It would be nice to see him get back to his best form again.

I plan on doing some Pick 6 videos in the near future. Not sure if I will have time to do one for Pegasus World Cup Day due to my busy schedule that week.

He seems to be coming back to top form based on that workout earlier today. He should give a good account of himself in the Pegasus.

It is definitely not easy to win. Having sound wagering strategies and knowing how to rank your contenders should lead to more winning tickets. I will be doing more videos like this in 2025.

McPeek had a fine season with Thorpedo Anna and Mystik Dan.

@@imilliemedina666 For leading trainers, graded stakes success is a must. It will probably go to Chad Brown due to his large stable of classy horses.

@@imilliemedina666 There are many highly skilled trainers out there without the big money owners, and they deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments as well. The Eclipse Awards are typically for the graded stakes horses and their connections owners, and breeders. Just like the Claiming Crown celebrates the top claiming horses, there should probably be an awards ceremony for the smaller horses, stables, riders, owners, breeders, etc. that are the backbone of the industry.

I did a San Vicente video and picked Barnes on top. He is in my top five on my Derby list and I am hoping a big effort today leads to a points race start.

Barnes might be a good one. We will find out more about him on Saturday, and if everything goes well, he figures to stretch out in a Derby points race.

well Coal Battle showed a different dimension.. The pace was slow and Vargas cleverly ended up on the front end... nice turn of foot from the 6 furlong mark to the wire... Paid $11 !!

Pilot Commander and Raging Torrent both had their chances go up following the defection of Bentornato. The pace figures to be controlled.

Takeout varies from track to track, and bets from the same tracks have different takeouts. Playing the lower takeout wagers can be a good thing, but first and foremost you have to cash tickets.
