It was released as a b-side to the Aztec Camera single Dream Sweet Dreams in July 1992: www.discogs.com/Aztec-Camera-Dream-Sweet-Dreams/master/36467 I was lucky enough to pick it up from a Soho market stall for a fiver when it was already ten years old. This is the best version of this wonderful song. Well, it's my favourite anyway.
Maybe one can't eat culture but tinned beans on stale toast tastes better eaten to music. My heart aches for such a tiny island perpetuating such noxious strife.
All nationalistic songs seem cloying and sickly sweet to me, I love this though - it's saying things have been shit can be so much better. I wish more songs would express this rather than paper over the cracks or throw in major chords and pompous war-marching tricks.
