Also when you apply oil then warm it a bit and then apply. Apply it a minimum of once or twice a week. I've had trich for 30 years!!! Nothing works but even doctors don't get it or its not their specialty. I hate the suggestion like put mittens on, keep your hands busy or told to just stop ... its more mental....it needs to be fought mentally on your behalf!

Awesome video! I never thought I had Trichotillomania because I was not on the severe level but I twist and rip out my hair everyday, more when I'm stressed. I also have anxiety and depression and a few OCDish behaviors but I never thought the hair pulling was that serious. My mom said I have done it since I was a baby. I have cut my hair short a couple of times (not a good look for me) and it helped to take away the temptation. My husband gets so frustrated with my hair pulling especially at bed time since that is when I have a lot of anxiety about starting a new day and I find that I twist and rip with both hands and the ripping noise drives him bonkers. Oops! I stop and sometimes catch myself doing it again without even realizing it.

I disagree, I far prefer having trich over alopecia. I think not having control over it would be far more upsetting at least for me. With trich, my trich actually goes down the busier my life is and I can apply will power and reduce my hair loss, alopecia patients can't and I don't think they actually have any treatments or cures yet. Medical conditions are a million times worse than physcological. Yes trich makes myself frustrated with myself but there is no shame, I can control, it doesn't control me unlike with medical conditions. The mind is a powerful thing and you can heal from any psych condition using your mind alone, that's not true for medical conditions.
