It’s a great place to see freight/charter trains up close.

Yeah, hopefully I can reach it before the end of next week.

Unfortunately I don’t think it will be going to Slateford Depot, It is doing a few runs from Mossend and back around the central belt this week and then it’s going back down to Carlisle.

I kinda expected it to wait at Elgin, luckily I was paying attention to the departure boards and got out of the car in time.

I’m unsure. I would assume that they are still caped at 75mph

Yeah, this is probably the last time I can see it at Beauly before summer.

Just had a look, and it’s going up to Kyle again on the 29th and returning south the following day.

@@TrainsToday_ I think I’m away then actually, I’m planning on going to see it on the strathspey railway on the 9th of June though

I would agree with you there, but I gave them both a point for having first class, as not all trains do.

How so? They both run intercity services in the highlands.

@@TrainsToday_ the HST is an intercity express train which (used to) operate long journeys linking major cities throughout both scotland and england whereas the 170 just operates in one area

Scotrail classifies the HST and Class 170 as both being 'Intercity', so I thought it appropriate to compare them in a video.
