Mountaineer - Planet Coaster RMC Terrain Hybrid | Created using NL2PC
This coaster was created in four different programs. I started in FVD where I made the layout, I'm most familiar with this program and could get the "RMC" shaping I was looking for. After this I imported the layout into NoLimits 2 where I touched up a few spots then ran a script. This script generated a CSV file of the entire layout which could then be imported into NL2PC. NL2PC took this file and generated a 3D model that showed step by step how to exactly to recreate the coaster in Planet Coaster. I then spent the day following this model and rebuilt the ride in my PlanCo park. Everything was smoothed the same way the 4 meter method is done. While made a video comparing the PC model to the NL2 model last year, I wanted to show off this coaster again now that I completed all the scenery around it.
Overall this is one of my favorite projects I've ever done, everything turned out almost exactly as I envisioned it last year. Huge shout out to Distantz who created the script and NL2PC program! I'll link that and other tools I used to make this coaster below.

I've been working on a 3D printed roller coaster for the past year. In this video I explain my process of creating track. Keep in mind this is just how I do it, if you have a different way of doing it please let me know in the comments! 4.572 Number Explanation: In the video I can't remember how I came up with that 4.572 number. But I think I figured it out. When you first import in the track s...
Planet Coaster vs No Limits 2: Coaster Comparison
Переглядів 143 тис.Рік тому
Using a few mods and a third party program, Planet Coaster can be just as good as No Limits 2 . . . at least if you design the coaster in No Limits first. I love both of these games, and I'm definitely going to use this method to build my coasters in Planco from here on out. This whole project only took me 2 days with the help of some mods. Mods/Programs used: NL2PC SmoothingMod SmootherCameraM...

I built this coaster back in 2020 and never got around to posting a video of it (oops). I used about 6 Sidewinder sets to build this models. Not sure when I’ll get back to building more with CDX blocks, I’m in college now so I don’t have the room in my apartment to build massive roller coasters like I do at home.

Planet Coaster - FIRST FLIGHT

Heyooo! I made this massive B&M Wing Coaster for a project we were doing in the Penn State Theme Park Engineering Group. As far as engineering goes, this ride it would totally be impossible to build in real life, or at least be an absurd amount of money. But hey that's why we have Planet Coaster! This took me about a month of non stop work every night to make but it was worth it in the end. Enj...
Kennywood Jack Rabbit, 100 Year Anniversary Model - A CDX Blocks/ LEGO Recreation
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
The first coaster I ever built using CDX Blocks was the Kennywood Jack Rabbit, looking back at it today it was not great. The hills were way to steep and the proportions were all wrong. So I decided to do it again on a much larger scale. The model shown here took about 10 Cyclone sets, and a month to build. Overall I’m very happy with how it turned out, it’s probably my favorite model I’ve buil...
CDX Blocks - Polercoaster

Although no Polercoasters have been built (yet) in real life I wanted to see if the concept was possible to create using CDX Blocks. Overall this model turned out pretty good though it shakes a little more than I would like it too. I spent about a month building this and used 10 Cyclone sets.

I was looking for exactly this video for weeks now! Thank you so much!!
it almost looks like the right side has smoother track, but filmed at a low frame rate
Hi John, great video. Do you think you could share the .csv file? I am learning 3d modeling and would like to play around with modeling a track before I attempt my own.
차이: 없음
What game is it?
Once Planet Coaster 2 comes out we won’t have to worry too much about smoothing
You don't enjoy spending 5 hours spamming the smooth button???
I think Planet coasters janky smoothing is actually more realistic. No track is as smooth as No limits and it feels rather dead to me.
i prefer planet coaster
I would really like this to be real
I am not seeing the difference so wouldn't know why I would switch from planco2 to nolimits2
did u just take your old one but add some high to it? but love the area and great job overall! ua-cam.com/video/YCArD7RZfLI/v-deo.htmlsi=-XIqOBMSZivq9hsK
Awesome! Wayyyy better than most Planet Coaster and NL2 creations on UA-cam. The real question worth understanding is… why? What are all the reasons that makes it better exactly? I know the answers, and it seems consistently apparent that most people don’t even ask themselves these questions in the first place. I wonder if YOU blindly stumbled upon some basic truths about the nature of the human minds’ perceived reality here…
@@DT-bx8lc Thank you!
this is cool bro
planet coaster is better.
Leuke achtbaan lijkt een beetje op de Münchener baan. ❤😂❤🎉❤😮❤😅
NoLimits 2 is absolute balls. I got it on steam and the building mechanics, UI, and the way it works feels like a piece of crap created in the early 1990s
Very nicely done!
Amazing coaster!
Thank you!
as a planco player, i can tell you its almost impossible to actually hand build inversions like that
He’s using mods. Without this would be way different!
Can we get a tutorial on the trains
How do you use the extractor I’ve downloaded it from GitHub but it’s just files nothing launches do I need a launcher or something I’ve extracted the files using winrar
Hi, nice video, When i try and sweep my spline across the line i get an error it says my profile is overlapping and is to circular? do you know how to fix this?
which has better sounds?
How do you connect the supports to the track? Do you use screws or print the supports with the track?
I print the supports separately then pin them to the track using 3mm dowel pins.
both have only 720p!
Which one is generating the sound? It's quite impressive. No limits, the one on the right I think? It looks better. The FOV is more realistic.
My main annoyance with PC is how desaturated the colours look. NL2 looks far better imo. However, in PC you can actually decorate your ride without having to spend hundreds of hours in Blender, which is a huge advantage.
Stl file please????? I don't have that much skill to do this
There is a way to export out of PC and/or NL2? Is it possible to export to industry standard 3D file formats such as Colada? I want to build the coaster and run the sim in PC or NL2 but export a Colada file out with the meshes, UV maps, textures, and keyframe data from the coster sim, bring it into C4D where I can add a lot of detail to the 3D models, much more detailed and photoreal texturing and shading, lighting, etc., and render it out to a high quality rendered animation.
having used both programs (admittedly i've got over 150 hours in planco and only around 8 in nl2), planco feels better to use due to it being simplified due to it being a game more than anything else, nl2 feels like a design software (which it is) however for someone who just wants to build full parks and watch little people walk around my creations, planco is better for me
Did you have trouble working with NL2PC? Everytime I get to a point where the pitch of a node goes beyond 90 degrees, the yaw values for the next couple pieces are completely out of wack. Sometimes it’ll say -90 and sometimes i’ll get two different values if you go back and forth across the nodes. I can’t even get through a single loop accurately.
Isn't this steve?
How does it have enough speed to go over the spots it would lose speed on?
I built this coaster “backwards”, meaning I started at the station and worked the opposite direction through the layout. Doing it this way ensures every hill gives the train enough speed to complete the layout.
I love twisted cyclone so to see it in CDX is awesome! Also do you have any tips for building inversions?
If you put crossties in before you start to twist the track it helps a ton. Though for the most parts it’s just blood sweat and tears until it eventually reaches the profile you want.
Planco Or Nolimits2? Easiest To Build: Planco Less Laggy: Nolimits 2 More Realistic: Nolimits 2 Guests: Planco Rides: Both Blueprints: Planco Easier To Navigate: Planco Realism: Nolimits 2 Weather: Nolimits 2 Time Of Day: Nolimits 2 Rollercoaster Cars: Nolimits 2 Planco: 5 Nolimits 2: 7 Winner: Nolimits 2
Love this, I am wanting to build cyclone racer from long beach, and have 8 kits will that be enough? Rick
Thank you! 8 kits probably won’t be enough if you’re trying to make it as close to the real thing as possible. I recreated the Kennywood Racer, which is a much smaller coaster than the Cyclone Racer, and still used up all 8 of my kits for it. For a coaster like the cyclone racer, I would say you need at least 11 kits unless your willing to cut the layout short in places.
Hey the version 1.1.1 of the Spline Extractor program has indeed had some bugs with scaling. Please make sure to get the v1.2.1 or newer, because those issues should've been adressed in those versions.
Hey, im the one who made the Spline Extractor programm. The Scaling issue seems to be because of foot to meter conversion, since the conversion is 1 Meter ~ 3.28 Foot relatively close to the scaling you needed to apply. The distances to center were in mm on the version you had, so it actually gave you the correct distances between splines you specified. I only designed the programm to accomodate metric parameters, so you may need to do the conversions yourself. Also the version you were using was an outdated version, which had issues with scaling that have been fixed in the next version. I just retestet it and it worked fine for me.
Ahhhh, makes sense. I’ll make sure to update my version. Thanks for creating the program, it makes spline exporting so much easier!
How do you use the extractor I’ve downloaded it from GitHub but it’s just files nothing launches do I need a launcher or something I’ve extracted the files using winrar
Lets go, another banger that makes me question my capabilities in the sim 🔥🔥
Haha, thanks!
quick question, where do you get your tubing for the rails at?
tailonz.com/product/tailonz-pneumatic-blue-pu-air-tubing-pipe-hose-pu-air-hose-for-air-line-tubing-or-fluid-transfer-tubingcopy1671688695319
This is what I found works best. I’m using the 4mm OD, 2.5mm ID tubing. I use a 3D printed jig to cut the slit into it.
thx@@jonathanzang5612
Maybe a few spots with questionable shaping but this is super good
This is crazy impressive, heavy Universal vibes... Man I wish I could make theming even 10% as good as this. Great work!
Thank you!
“Malice Unchained 1 looks too intense for me.”
I have PlanetCo so do i get NL2?
I really vibe with your style. Would be fun to collaborate on something at some point.
Thank you! I would be interested in a collab at some point in the future
Thank you for reminding me why I make my coaster style kits! So grateful to see my trains used on such an awesome project!!
No problem, thanks for making the kit! I had so much fun making this with it
hey! im looking to do this with a full circuit coaster but im struggling to figure out how to open the spline extractor program - it downloaded as just a file with no way to open any actual program. could you offer some help to me? thanks!
It should be a zip with an executable(.exe) inside (so it only works on windows). You need to make sure though that you dont download the source code
Nice! What’s the stats, also maybe try opening it to guests and see how long they will wait. (Make the queue themed aka get the golden treasure chest it’s $10k and hide it below the ground) I know this is a video from 8 months ago but it would be cool.
I’m not sure about the stats rn, but I actually built this coaster for a park I’m working on. After I finished the layout I decided to make a comparison video for it. I’ve since completed a ton of theming for it, I plan on releasing a cinematic video of it soon. With the theming it’s at 5 star prestige and constantly has a 60 minute que that completely fills
Planet Coaster is fairly capable but has a much lower ceiling than NL2 and a lot more prep time to smooth things. My biggest complaint about PC is that the supports are unrealistic, to the extent that some coasters look absurd.
Also, could you please do a video explaining how to design the cart? unless you ahve already done it
The cart design is much more complex to the point where I don't know if a tutorial would be that helpful. Trying to get the wheel assemblies to work is the hardest part, and requires a ton of trial and error to work out the tolerances and wheel gaps. The actually modeling of the parts are easy, if you can model track you should be able to do it without any issues. For the actual design I would base it off real life coasters. There's a coaster printing discord I could send you, there's a ton of helpful people in it that could help you with the process.
