Colony Trap Demos
Переглядів 6621 день тому
Just a quick video on colony traps in use. Limited sounds, this just shows the function of the traps with two triggers by sensor and one trigger by remote control. I will say my own dogs are the hardest to trap because they know exactly what all of this does! Marrow bones made it worth it. We do sell the trap trigger devices at www.humaneinnovations.com, but we do not sell the cages or the batt...

Welcome to our training video on modular, advanced capture animal traps, to include elements of Missy, colony, group, and wildlife traps. These incredible capture tools can be complicated and a bit pricy, but they can open up so many opportunities to catch animals that may not exist with other types of traps and techniques. You can build this entirely from scratch yourself, work with community ...
First test of new remote for colony trap trigger system.
Переглядів 19Місяць тому
This is the latest upgrade for the Humane Innovations trap trigger. I finally found a remote control system that will allow the trap to be triggered from a significant distance. I realize the technology exist for a cellular trigger, but there’s too much lag in the cellular systems. This trigger system uses both an optical and remote control system. You can use either or both simultaneously. T...

For some reason I’m not able to edit my comments so having to do another one. In my first comment, I mention that I had a dog bust out of the back and bent the railing out. I posted this to a lost dog trapping page I belong to on Facebook and someone else commented that the same thing happened to them but the rails came completely off. How are these traps being tested for that type of situation? I called Tomahawk yesterday and what the person told me was that they cannot be responsible for damage done by the dog. These traps are literally made to trap scared, skittish dogs. There should be testing with the type of strength that those dogs have. Otherwise, why am I buying that?
I also need to add to my previous comment that the very first time I used the trap is the only time that the door lifted and stayed in place the way you show in this video. After that, I always had to double check and press down the hinge that holds it open to ensure that it stayed open. It fell down after my second time using it. I could get it to stay, but it does not do it as easily as it is shown in the video and as it would set the very first time someone might use it.
Please send a photo and possibly video when you email. This trap has been significantly upgraded since the original release and you may be working with an early model. Either way, we would appreciate a chance to make this right and earn your trust back.
I am a trapper based in Utah and was so excited about buying this trap because of the door. I have been working on a dog a couple of hours away from Salt Lake City. As soon as my target dog was trapped in my GT610B, he busted through the back side, the rails bent right off and he got out. Obviously not good when I have spent $700 with shipping to buy a dog trap that is made to trap dogs. I am still in the process of trying to capture this dog now and as soon as I can get all of my information and pictures together, I will send them to Tomahawk. If they do not offer some type of compensation, I probably will never buy a tomahawk again. My Tru Catch would not have lost this dog. It’s really unfortunate to see comments on another page I belong to where people are saying that they zip tie the back of this same trap to make sure that doesn’t happen. We shouldn’t have to be doing that.
Thanks for discussing the Roundhouse Trap, I'm a former Humane Officer and designed it to stop cats having their faces cut up.

@@humaneinnovationsThank you
need lining on bottom.
Thanks for the comment Rob. Managed colonies tend to tolerate floor linings quite well, while unmanaged colonies and more wild cats are more wary of anything new or different. The most consistently reliable lining will be natural materials, particularly sand and dirt. Ultimately it’s up to each cat what they will walk into a trap for and trappers will do best when they provide options and mimic the environment the target animals live in.
Looks like an awesome trap. The gravity door appears to be powder coated. Would you recommend powder coating the rest of the trap?
The door is powder coated because they use some different steel that has to be welded. The rest is hot-dip galvanized, so it’s really not necessary to paint it/powder coat it.
Great,thank you
Is this like a Bigger version of the new Tomahawk gravity trap for cats?
Not quite. The basic type of trap is the same: gravity door, but the mechanism is quite different. The cat traps (GT606 and GT608) don’t have the one hand set or the spring lock of the 610. The cat traps use a more traditional friction mechanism and a fused ring system for the door lock.
Thank you for answering my question.
If a tall dog should push up on the door, will it release it and cause it to close? My concern is that it's only 26" high. Do you have a video of the pyrenees going into the trap?
Great question! I had the camera on the wrong function when I trapped him so I only got photos! I shot this short for you. Would you like measurements as well? ua-cam.com/users/shortsfyMbiWq3yDM?feature=share
@@humaneinnovations Thank you for the videos they are very helpful.
Are they available now?
Yes! I’m not sure if they are on the website but definitely call or email in an order with the model number.
Does the largest version collapse for transportation?
Unfortunately no, none of them collapse. However a little bird tells me that a folding version is in the pipeline, hopefully later this year.
Great demo! Those new spring doors are a wonderful advancement. Thanks John . . and Tomahawk.
wonderful video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just learned so much from this video, thank you! Now, off to watch the other videos in this series.
That's great to hear! I hope you enjoy the rest!
This is a great video! I love the detail and tips. I have one to add. When transferring cats from trap to trap or trap to transfer cage, I always backstop the trap or cage the cat is going into. Inside I use a wall, outside I often use a car wheel or a curb. I have had one strong feral escape because he hit the back of the transfer cage so hard he was able to create a space to then escape between the cages. Thank you for posting this video!
That's a great point!!
Great point! I overlooked that in the video but definitely do it in real life! Either up against something or with my body. With dogs it's best to use three carabiners per side to secure the cages together. Thanks for the comment!
4:05 You practice what you preach. It's a good thing that you put on the gloves before handling that tiger.
I nearly lost a hand!
Nice moves.
