Irritating soundtrack, pompous house but nice car. 16:15 Oh je "VOUS" rappelerai tout à l'heure: no way that the upperclass would use the polite form toward the staff like a maid. "Oh je te rappelai tout à l'heure" would have had to been used here. Why doesn't Hollywood use native speakers as advisors ?

This film of the young and beauteous Jane Russell was a damp squib. She's a young widow who was eager to nurse her broken heart and, perhaps, find herself again to start life anew. Instead she is thrown into a series of events that may have non-plussed viewers. Its wartime with guys and gals acting faster than they can walk. What Jane's character needed was a slower process of introspecting, getting a job as a writer and, eventually, finding a 2nd Mr. Right. She was young and very lovely and chances of her remaining an old maid was very remote. Characters moved as if bombs were exploding everywhere. A slower pace would have helped in keeping with the scenario.

There was no murdered wife at all. A very strange hard -to- follow plot Confusing to say the least. Really no ending either. I would skip it.

A little difficult to follow but still enjoyed. The setting, lighting etc.....lo budget.

Although the plot summary is not accurate, it's still a DAME GOOD MOVIE!

THIS is more of a "soap opera" type film. People, the common folk. like going to see how the rich live life in splendor and opulence. IT made their lives that much less tragic when they could see how those that have would still be so bothered by things that were ridiculously perceived as "problems".

The plot described in the summary is not what the movie is about. Still is watchable

SO MUCH YELLING AND NOT LISTENING TO EACH OTHER OR TRYING TO EXPLAIN .THEIR EGOS AND PRIDE, INSTEAD OF UNDERSTANDING AND COMPROMISING .ALSO VERY DANDEROUS DRIVING .

I expect Jane Russell and Lt. Pearson to bump into Peggy and Fred, or Marie and what's-his-name on the crowded, post-War dance floor. I love the scene where Jane Russell enters her girlhood room at her Aunt's house, remembering the last time she stayed there with her late husband, going through his things and remembering old times, listening to "All of a Sudden, My Heart Sings" on the phonograph. I think of the young WWII widows who sat in theaters everywhere in 1946, like the Studio City Cinema (where I went growing up,) living through the same thing. Jane Russell was a fine actress in this subtle, nuanced performance.

I can't imagine any woman really appreciating the pushy behavior of Louis Hayward...

Wrong stars, but still a great movie. Jane Russell and Louis Hayward. If any of you are a fan of Hayward, like I am, you might want to watch, "My Son, My Son", 1940 with Brian Aherne as the father of Louis Hayward's character. It is a great film.
