I remember once asking Fat Mike why he never signed Das Klown to Fat Wreck, knowing they were close and even opened for them the night they recorded the live album "I Heard They Suck Live!" and he told me that AJ was sober and about his family so didn't want to tour extensively, and AJ had started a company doing prop master work and had landed the job for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, with Gore Verbinski who directed the S&M Airlines video. Then he offhandedly said "Plus it is an older white dude who dresses like a skinhead while wearing clown makeup on stage. Does it sound like they fit in on the roster?" This was in like 2002. A few years later Cokie emerges on Fat Wreck, clown paint, suspenders, boots and portrayed by a Fat Jewish Anti-racist punk, and I thought "Well What the Fuck?"

Fuck yeah dude. I love that they are touring again and Spyder is too. TSOL is still at it, the Vandals, and the new non-Gabby led Manic Hispanic which is, well, trying is the best I can say. Thank God for Alex's Bar, that place is keeping Long Beach punk kicking.
