Slightly painful to watch, needed some serious editing down to minimize the technical pauses. Having said that, I stuck with it and give kudos to the GM for keeping the session coherent while the tech failed all around them!

Having watched Glass Cannon's actual play of Fiery Angels before coming upon this one, the shock of Novak's death hit hard... loving how varied the storylines can be in TTRPGs. Same game, same system, infinite directions.

There is very good black humour in this episode and i like it!

Loving the story so far, and really enjoying this group! I do hope the audio levels get stabalized later, though, because having some people loud and others barely hearable is really annoying.

I recognize that small violin motif from Aliens anytime, anywhere. I'm considering subbing now thanks to that, cuz I appreciate a DM that puts his efforts on music and mood

Props to the DM for being so patient with technical problems, that stuff sucks but can't be helped. I'm planning on running this with my group in October using the roll20 version and watching you guys go through it has helped me plan out a few things

I think the new roll result boxes used in this campaign are sub-optimal, because they automatically move all the successes to the front, which means you can't roll too many dice and "just take the first N results". The tally at the top without moving the dice around would be more friendly to mistakes, while still allowing easy reading of the total numbers without leading to over-penalization from forgetting the dice are getting moved around to group results rather than displaying in roll order.

There seems to be confusion about Lavigne during the recap... he holds the cure, and the perfected need his blood to be able to mutate to adapt to it; not because the cure itself helps them spread, no more than being immune to any other contagion helps bacteria adapt to it from repeated exposure and time, but because without it (in the purest form) to "study" or absorb, they can't adapt to it. So Lavigne needs to be kept from them, but he needs to be protected and the strain he holds spread to keep the hive from spreading. I hope they realize this confusion and rescue him.

I am going to start this scenario with my players in a few weeks, listening to you guys for preparation, thank you for the inspiration and good ideas!

Did they forget there are emergency stations with around 6x ECO2 suits basically every floor in the zero-g tunnel?

Too late now, but for future reference when playing with these $30,000+ credit suits, the ECO1 and ECO2 have thruster systems (the ECO2 additionally has a magnetic boot system that works in tandem with the thrusters) to keep the wearer stable in EVA. So firing a bolt gun would trigger a little thruster burn for Lark to stay in place, while still pushing the deacon. They also both have flashlights built onto the helmet visible in the pictures, even though the flashlight isn't described in the text. They provide "the maximum amount of protection from the hazards of space" which includes radiation (even NASA suits from when the Aliens movie came out had radiation shielding); radiation is the next biggest hazard in space after pressure and air, and these suits are more than twice the cost of the next best suit ($15,000 credit for the mk50 compression suit, 15 times the cost of the $2,000 for the mk35). The ECO2 is rounded on all edges, to avoid damage to the suit or anything it impacts when maneuvering EVA. It is unlikely most impacts short of the bolt gun would damage the helmets (i.e. claws, tail swipe, or acid would all damage them, but not running into a bulkhead even at full pace), since they are designed to protect against impacts in space. These are huge, bulky suits that have to use motors in the limbs to move and actuators in the fingers to manipulate the hands; they are more like an exoskeleton than a space suit, if that helps distinguish them from the compression suits in your picturing of them. They will maintain the shape of a person when no one is inside them (which means storing them also takes up a lot of space). You could retcon that they had mk50 compression suits, and that would make a lot more sense. Oh, they also have a comprehensive heads up display built into the helmets. I am not sure the capabilities of it, but it includes a comm system and some kind of holographic display. ECO2 are the suits used in Covenant, and ECO1 are heavy EVA suits used in Prometheus (not the light suits they use while exploring the planet).

I really wanted someone to ask the perfected if it was showing them a warning and seeking their help against this plague, or if it was threatening them if they don't help it. And then ask it if the plants are part of it, or something attacking it too. Is it from the ship that was in the asteroid? Was it's ship damaged by this plant? Were you carrying it with you, or did you encounter it in the vicinity of the black hole? Was it unknown to you before encountering it here or were you looking for it (or running from it)? Will the draconis strain protect us from this plague as well as help you, or are you just offering to spare us/help us in exchange for it. Is the sight of the plants on the ship meant to symbolize if we try to leave now, we'll take the plague with us to the rest of the galaxy as a warning to maintain quarantine? Do we need to destroy the station to stop the spread? Is the black beating heart a living host somewhere on this station, and that the source of the draconis strain? Or do we need to capture a specific creature? Or does one of us need to become infected to grow the strain? (they don't know about their friend being infected yet) Will you send your deacons with us to guard us from the other threats? Or are they too aggressive when you aren't near them to hold them back? Or can you have the other creatures leave us alone? A lot of these questions depend on the answers to the previous one... I could spend the whole session just talking to that magnificent perfect being.

Ran this for my friends the other night and they got really lucky up until their first Xeno encounter. Holroyd got muffed right out the gate and they barely managed to get some flamethrower action on it before it tried to get away. Literally rolled 2 headbites and a grab>headbite. First was a surprise attack, then the Xeno had the highest initiatives. Blown away by how badly stacked these guys are if you're not lucky.
