Great Parks of Hamilton County
United States
Приєднався 2 чер 2009
Great Parks of Hamilton County was created in 1930 with a parcel of land that became Sharon Woods. Over the years, with the support of Hamilton County residents, the Park District has grown to 21 parks and preserves, spanning 17,700 acres. Approximately 80% of the land is preserved for natural habitats and wildlife. Old-growth forests, young woodlands and restored prairie and wetlands provide food and shelter for a diversity of species, from the common squirrel to the resurging American bald eagle.
There is plenty of fun for people too, as visitors can enjoy a wide variety of outdoor recreation and education. The parks feature three campgrounds, seven golf courses, eight lakes for fishing and boating, river access for paddling and many picnic areas. Visitors can take advantage of miles of both paved and nature trails, athletic fields and leagues, playgrounds and disc golf.

The nature interpreters have decided to train the raptors by using operant conditioning. While the training has been beneficial for the interpreters and raptors alike, there have been a few challenges along the way. Tom decided to record his progress over the past two years. Being a nature interpreter involves wearing many hats, including being a raptor beautician! In this video we give one of our red-tailed hawks a beak and talon trim, along with getting her some new footwear. A Surprising Visitor to Sharon Woods

The Limpkin is a wetland bird that usually ranges from Central America to as far north as Florida. Suffice to suffice to say birders were excited to see a limpkin at Sharon Woods, the second sighting of such bird in Hamilton County. The first sighting of a limpkin in Hamilton County was just a few days prior at Shawnee Lookout, which is another Great Park. One of our nature interpreters can be ...

Thanks gang looked it up on google and got here
I actually thought you were gonna eat it.... Makes sense why she bit you😂
Your supposed to jump swallow the seeds, not chew them
That is awesome!
Happy raptor training??? 😂
Jeezus. I just realized I need a hawk. Damnnn..
Wow, so cool man...
are electric skateboards allowed on your trails
They really do, we would dare each other to eat them as kids 😂
Thanks for doing this one
That same type bar linkage was also disconnected from the A key on my KHM. What an odd coincidence.
They say they don’t bite and that’s a lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good information. Nice Job.
The native Americans used the maypop passion flowers for medicinal use as well
Yo you gotta give em something with a beat.
Those are Whooly Beech Aphids! Also known as Dancing Woolly Aphids or Boogie-Woogie Aphids. Hope this helps! 😁
Yep, KHM12-1974688 is a 1936 KHM with 12" carriage. (:
You can eat the Seeds. I’ve got them all over my yard.
Ever roast them like pumpkin seeds?
@@Noshow242 they burn too easy.
Very helpful thanks
1st!
Slay emma
With maypop, I go by smell rather then color, many passion fruit species need to get wrinkled before eating because they are otherwise sour, but that's untrue for maypops and when they get too wrinkled they start to get a fermented flavor that I'm not fond of. Unripe they smell bland and maybe a little like rubber and are very firm, and taste like lemon, ripe they smell very strong and tropical and soften like an old sad balloon and taste great!
Also these are dry on the inside which means either they weren't properly pollinated, are in poor soil, or most likely aren't receiving enough water or sun. And they need about 90 days on the vine, so late season fruit maybe soften before developing fully
He is bamboozling everyone because they have never used one of these. To get all the keys to hold together, he may have had to hold them together out of sight. It is simple to untangle the keys, just do the top one first. (Not the highest one, but the last one to tangle, the top). One at a time. I would be more concerned as to why, once "fixed," a couple keys didn't lay down correctly.
Howd you fuck it up like that? Ive never seen anyone tangle the hammers that badly
Mother nature is astounding
Promo SM 😭
Really big catfish and some nice crappies
This place is awesome ❤😍
Looks like fun!
Very interesting! And that's a great closing shot of Bellatrix on the fence.
I like this Tom fellow, he seems very knowledgeable. More Tom videos!
Love 3-D printing and nature so this was so cool
Happy to see you making such awesome educational stuff !!
p̷r̷o̷m̷o̷s̷m̷
We have them everywhere on our property in the Cedar Glades, Middle Tennessee.
How come nobody fishes for bluegill there
ew grass i could never
Being that there is 6,600 and something different types of species of harvesters in my experience you got to get the ones with the white bellies. Those taste more like mint.
The largest freshwater fish I have ever reeled in was a nearly six foot longnose gar out of the big upper lake at the place. It's a great fishing spot!
I find it funny when humans think vultures are gross for eating "stuff that's been dead a couple of days" when most humans eat animals that have been dead far longer than a couple of days. Everyone that eats animals is eating flesh in some state of rotting and decay.
Ummm lady u wrong about a couple of things
Rabies is way more disgusting than vultures. Thank you vultures!
Trailblazers camp 🏕 made me a spider licker 🤦🏾♂️
Great job sharing information on such cool birds! What's a captive vulture eat?
I absolutely love Black Vultures. I have one come visit me everyday on my porch. I’m trying to learn everything about them.
*no spiders were harmed in the making of this video*
I caught a 5 pound largemouth bass there in June. It's a good place to fish, but once it gets hot the bite dies. I think they go back to the river where there's more oxygen and cooler water. Beautiful place though!
i ate a daddy long legs by accident and it was the worst thing ever, i had the taste of it in the back of my throat for an hour straight
that sounds hellacious 💀
Do as i say, not as I do. ;-)
