A beautiful song. I suspect it affected in some way John Lennon when he heard it . His mother's name was Julia and the song he wrote about 3 years later, in honour of his mother, certainly has an echo of the melody heard here, especially when you get to the name (very similar phrasing).

I met a nurse today called Juliet. I told her that her name is one of the most beautiful, I ever heard and she proceeded to tell me a lovely story. One day four male patients on her hospital ward, sang this song as she came on shift one morning. She said she'd never forget how sweet it was to hear this song which she had never heard as she was a Nigerian lady new to the UK. I didn't know the song, which is why I am here! It really is as lovely as she said it was. Thank you!😙🎵

I used to drive around in my '64 Chevelle playing this record on my car record player! Those were great times!

When I was in highschool around 1969. Those glasses were totally out of style, although I enjoyed his songs when they played oldies on the radio, I had never heard of Buddy Holly and didn't hear of him until the 1980's.

OMG ! Lol he was about to walk off after the first song! This was a moment in history! First white act on that stage! That had to be the first time for black style horns!! A Jam !! A 1,000 times better than the movie!! The guy who booked them thought they were black & they didn’t know the Apallo ! It was only named “Buddy Holly” but when they recorded the demo tape ( in a garage) crickets were in the background. The promoter told the guy “it’s the Buddy Holly guy with the crickets ( in the background- talking about the demo- promo guy booked it & wrote it down and that’s the history of the band’s full name, accidental.

Buddy Holly was my favorite back then but also believe Richie Valens would have been great also at 17 yrs old he was also an amazing talent.

Great performances of 2 Mega Super groups The Beatles and the Dave Clark 5. These bands had their own sound and here in America they were part of the British Invasion.

This is my first time seeing him perform. I guess I'm about what his age would be, 79, maybe he was a little older. He was great and could he play that guitar! Rip Buddy, you didn't get to see how much we loved your music!

My father saw Buddy Holly and the Crickets at the Montréal Forum 1957... With Fats Domino,The Everly Bro, Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry... He always said, Buddy Holly stole the show... Big Hug From Montréal !

Dave Clark deserves immense credit for propelling his band to the forefront leadership of the British Invasion of America! The Dave Clark Five and The Beatles were the 2 giant bands that led the British Invasion. The Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermit's, The Who, The Animals, Searchers, and so forth, all trailed the Beatles & The DC5. Also, there's a certain Mr Ryan who had legally relinquished his writing credits via a deal with Dave Clark. Ryan made the deal with Mr Clark. However it seems in the last few years that Ryan has endlessly complained, whined and cried to anyone and everyone that he is not credited with songs he purportedly wrote but are credited to Dave Clark. Mr Clark has the legal right to claim writing credits to the songs. Fans of the many Dave Clark Five fan groups throughout the internet are quite tired of hearing Mr Ryan's whining and crying over any deal he made with Mr Clark.

This is why we used to get along with each other, that is until the government got involved!! 😢

They need to remake that show that Gary busey made. Buddy Holly is way more of a showman than I thought he was, just from that movie. He had some hella moves not awkward like Buseys was.
